As far as we know, yes. Bland name in my opinion.

I think if they go through with this they should re-release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for those that haven't bought it as simply Modern Warfare for continuity sake at least. Thats the one thing i don't like about this change is that realistically there was never a Modern Warfare 1, just a game with a subtitle.

its apart of the franchise but doesn't have the name in the title as for Call of duty doesn't really mean its world war 2 based you would be suprised to find a poster saying your contruy has called for duty or somthing like that in the 80s

It's still part of the franchise.


It's just like, shortening the name.

Gaz is dead. Price is most likely dead.

Soap's survival is not guaranteed.

Going to bump this because I am intrigued as to the true name of this game. Are they just calling it Modern Warfare 2 or will COD be properly included?

The way I see it at the moment is that it is still a Call of Duty game in the Call of Duty series, but by calling it just "Modern Warfare 2" it is sort of saying "When you see that title you just know that it is a Call of Duty game without us having to explicitly say it".

If you read this thread in entirety, or one of the other threads, or if you just google it, you'll know that dropping COD lost 20% of sales and not everyone caught on.


COD is BACK in the title for sure. Although there is speculation that this won't effect the Special editions.

But we don't know for sure yet.

What do you mean?

They were branching off of The "call of duty" because that's more related to service during WWII then any other time. They had branched into their own segment with Modern Warfare and they wanted to make the full separation.
