Ok, so I got MW2 early, and naturally I was just spamming the online play yesterday, and at one point, a guy came in and started telling me how when the game is OFFICIALLY released, everyones level will be reset to 1, who got the game early, including Infinity Ward employees. I have looked everywhere to try and find confirmation of this, and I've failed pretty miserably. So can someone post any sort of confirmation of this? I personally don't care if my level is reset, it's a fun as hell game and my favorite gun is open to use once you get create a class, I am just curious as to what I can expect.

lol, i would buy you a copy and mail it to you, but by that time it would be a few days after the actual release

I read that the leaderboards are getting reset so i would assume this will be extended to the levels and everything else too.

There was a tweet by fourtwozero confirming this, I can't seem to find it though.

There other other rumours going about that a patch has been released that disables Trophies/Achievements until official release and people on the 360 are being banned because MS thinks they are playing Pirate copies.

I don't think IW are too chuffed about the game being sent out early.

I'd stop playing if i were you. Microsoft are confirmed to be pretty much perma banning any console they see playing the game early, regardless of pirating or not

There are legit copies out right now for reviews and video sites. Trust me. ; ) I know.

They are just banning pirates.

It has been confirmed by 402 that there will be a complete leaderboard wipe at time of launch.

Part of me wants the game early but the other part is glad I don't because I don't want to be banned :<

Do you have a source for that? It doesn't seem likely that Microsoft would be able to do that, considering some retail outlets are selling legitimate copies of the game. Then again, I suppose it might violate the User Agreement, which I haven't perused since I signed up for Live.

That seems sketchy to me.

They are banning on the off chance that your pirated it, but this seems to be X-box only. I've heard that Ps3 will get a leaderboard reset for everyone at midnight on release day so that anybody who wants to compete for first to level 70 can do.

Xbox only seem to be banning because they have nobody else to take it out on. They can't punish the retailer because they don't know which retailer sold it to you, so they go after the player because they assume that the player went out of their way to get the game early.

Go to offical IW xbox boards, people are filling the place saying they've been banned after playing ther game on LIVE

I know someone who got console banned because they played a pirated copy of Modern Warfare 2 a week before it wsa released. What an idiot, no one should do that.

People who are playing it legitimately early though (because of a mix up on behalf of your retailer or because you just got it early through the post for some weird reason) are FINE because Microsoft can identify flashed consoles to legit ones.

As for leaderboards being reset, Infinity Ward DID confirm this via Twitter so expect everyone to be rank 1 on Tuesday. It's only fair, I guess.
