As a child, Jin Mikuriya often played beneath the great sacred tree of the local shrine. One day, he encountered a beautiful and mysterious priestess, who vanished just as quickly as she had appeared-- Almost as though she had been swept away by the summer gale.

Years later, the image of this entrancing beauty remains steadfast in the mind of Jin; Who is now an aspiring art student, living alone in his father's absence. For a school project, he decides to make a wood carving that bears the likeliness of that priestess from so long ago. Using the wood from the sacred tree that had been cut down, he finishes his project.... Only to have it crack open, and birth a real live girl in the process.

And so, Jin's first encounter with the enigmatic Nagi came to pass. The girl, bearing the same appearance of the Priestess from his childhood, claims to be the God responsible for all life on Earth-- She is the personification of the Great Sacred tree, and she is less than pleased to find out it has been cut down. (And even less pleased with Jin who had the audacity to make a wood carving out of such an important relic.) Nagi reveals that without the Great Tree, manifestations of human hatred and malice called "impurities" will bring misfortune to the land. She (Forcibly) enters Jin's life, claiming that he is obligated to help her cleanse these impurities from the land, and save the world from any calamities.

Jin shows reluctance at first, not wanting to help the selfish and awkward Nagi. But only together, can the two prevent what has yet to come.
