re: [Anime] 5 Centimeters Per Second - a chain of short stories about their distance |

Yeah... I saw that a few days ago. The most hilarious part is, ADV still hasn't put even a news article about it on their website. lol It's still awesome. I was thrilled to see that the other day.
The Blu-Ray version will be priceless, IMO. It's a possession I would horde for the rest of my life... until there is a higher quality release. I need to get a blu-ray player for my computer... ![]() -------------------

Just checked this out after seein this after searching through the index for something interesting.
And although this isnt what I usually watch, and had it not been anime I dont think I would have even bothered, it was brilliant. Closest I've come to crying in a long time. Sad, but realistic, ending. Great film, definitely worth checking out the animation is top knotch. -------------------

Yeah, a bit sad....It progresses in different time periods, so you can see how things change a bit.
Well, I have to say the second 'episode' is the most visually appealing one by far (to me at least). The surreal space visual is just plain awesome ^_^ Graphically, this anime is quite good. I saw it on my standard LCD computer monitor. The source video was a 1080p file. My video card didn't like it much >_< It struggled a bit (not surprising, considering).... -------------------

I'm glad you liked it Goyun. I recommend you try it out in BluRay quality. It's freaking incredible. It's the only anime I know of that was worth getting in BluRay. Anyway, yeah, Cosmonaut was supposedly the most visually appealing on purpose. Shinkai believes that good scenery will heal any emotional wounds. So, during the saddest chapter, he chose to use the most beautiful scenery. I adored Cosmonaut. It was most certainly my favorite chapter.

Well, I think he has something going there. People like looking at beautiful things. Staring at the clouds or scenery when you're outside is nice an relaxing....It is one of those 'feel good' things.
But of course, for some types of people, looking at beautiful things make them feel worse....Like they're 'worthless' or some such...But I think that is in the minority. Feel a bit bad for the tanned girl in the second chapter though.... -------------------

Oh of course. I love Kanae. She's a favorite. And truly, he is on to something. I went to Cornwall a week ago, and I must say, it has the most beautiful countryside I've ever seen. Just looking at it made me forget all of my troubles and I could feel my stress drain away. It's a euphoric experience.

That's real deep Mastix.
Yeah I felt sorry for her too. First time I watched it, I didnt realise the boy she loved was the one from Chapter 1 until about half way through, then I was like "Aww no, that's unlucky!" Loved it. -------------------

Anybody see the (Official I think) music video, One More Time, One More Chance?
I wasn't partial to the music, but I sure enjoyed the high quality video source I got >_> Makes the 1080p source I used before look like crap. -------------------

This anime is amazing.. I can't believe how powerful it is. The narration and fractured style of the anime really makes you empathise for the characters

To be honest, I don't know why it's Shinkai day today of all days, but it is.

I watched it and it reminded me of Voices from a Distant Star, I think its by the same director. 5cm is better, but only by a tiny bit.

I have the Blu-Ray version...my computer can barely run it the graphics requirements are so damn high. Then again, I had to install a Blu-Ray player myself to get it working.
