 ECW. Extreme. Hardcore. Just a couple of words to describe the most iconic wrestling companies ever. Back now, and better than ever.  WWE. At times, mindblowing. At other times, frustrating. After difficult years under the 'John Cena' era, the WWE has bounced back. But now, ECW is on the block. How will they cope? ------------------------------------- 2010: The WWE and ECW have never been better. After ECW's resurgence and WWE buying out TNA in 2008 after they actually started to become good again, wrestling is at an all-time high. With Shane & Stephanie McMahon in charge of WWE, and Paul Heyman in charge of ECW, both companies look good for the future too. But in one innocuous meeting, everything changes. WWE decides to put their 'B' show, SmackDown!, up against ECW in an attempt to squash them into the ground. Will this 'evil' plan work? And what lies in the future for WWE and ECW? ECW BACKSTORY 2007: The end to 2007 was not a good one for ECW, which saw Big Daddy V winning the ECW World Title from CM Punk on ECW, after Punk had defended previously against Elijah Burke and Tommy Dreamer at No Mercy and Survivor Series. Matt Striker was now getting a lot of plaudits for his in ring work and microphone skills, so gradually, he broke off from BDV and began to operate alone, going over The Boogeyman repeatedly on ECW. Kevin Thorn began to dominate Stevie Richards and Nunzio too, until that was all he could go over. In the end ECW was the same 11-13 superstars every week, mostly Nunzio & Richards jobbing, and Punk and Dreamer teaming in the main-event and it grew tiresome. After the ratings hit rock bottom, WWE decided to call it a day at Armageddon, where the team of Tommy Dreamer, CM Punk, John Morrison, Elijah Burke and Big Daddy V where defeated by Randy Orton, Shelton Benjamin, The Great Khali, and Deuce & Domino, to end ECW.
