January 2007 TNA had an chance to start the year brightly with Final Resoloution, which had it's share of shocks - and which left the fans very pleased with how it turned out. LAX defeated the Dudleys when Homicide was able to get away with a low-blow to Bubba Dudley, and then he and Hernandez double-teamed D-Von and nailed the 5150 for the win. Awesome King was too much for Gail Kim during the whole of their bout, but a sunset flip caught Kong off guard and the momentum and surpise factor allowed Kim to sneak a victory. The crowd nearly blew the place apart (in joy), however, when Samoa Joe got the better of Kurt Angle after Angle looked to have grinded his way to a 2-1 win over Joe - when he nailed him with an Angle Slam, but when it came to getting to pinfall, a tired, weary Kurt Angle was, from nowhere, rolled up and swung into a deep Coaqunita Clutch and had no choice but to tap to give Joe the 3-2 victory! The best was still yet to come however, as during the Main Event, Sting was eliminated after an Unpretter, and then after sixteen minutes of brutal action, Abyss was named the winner and still NWA World Champion as he caught Cage in mid-air and Black Hole Slammed him through the table and all the way through the ring for the pinfall! WWE, however, didn't have such a famous night when the Royal Rumble rolled around. Batista and John Cena triumphed as expected over Ken Kennedy and Umaga respectivley - and come the Royal Rumble, every fan in the WWE thought it was to be either The Undertaker or Shawn Michaels to win it - and in the end, it was a draw - between Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Edge and Randy Orton. As Michaels hit Edge with Sweet Chin Music, Edge grabbed his leg and dragged him over the top rope with him, and Orton clung onto the Phenom when he getting tossed over the top rope. The next night, on Raw, however - it was announced the four would battle it at No Way Out in a fatal fourway steel cage match to decided who gets the right of Royal Rumble winner! | |
