OMEGA Wrestling

...:::WWE HQ June 26th 2004:::...

Vince McMahon slammed the newspaper, folded in half, onto the table, keeping his hand on it, he leaned toward the table.

Vince: How the hell can Shane do this to me? He's my own goddamn son, he's the heir to the McMahon family throne. He's meant to be running this company, not some crappy OMEGA Wrestling!

Vince looked pissed, he pulled himself up from leaning on the table and puts his hand to his head.

Vince: I mean, I work my ass off bringing him up to believe WWE for Life... And he screws me over.

Not even Vince could believe the words that came out of his mouth. Vince was a renowned screwer, he wasn't used to being screwed!

Vince: This is unacceptable, I;ve got Shane running a mockery of the McMahon name, who's next, Stephanie...? No, no, I will not allow my daughter to run AWOL! I assure this place will stay number one... I've already got enough on my hands with Jerry Jarrett... This is the last damn thing I need!

Vince slammed his fist onto the table, everybody around the table including me jumped.

Arn Anderson: Vince, I think you're taking this a bit too far. You should be happy for Shane, he's finally getting his life into priority.

Vince: Arn, you know what, you're right. I should be happy for Shane, he is taking his life into priority... But it's the wrong damn priority, in 30 years time when I'm six foot under it should be him taking on my legacy. But instead the little bastard screws me over. I want the WWE name to live on in 30 years time, not the OMEGA name!

I had been working for WWF/WWE for 15 years now. I had even taken control of the company for a few months in 1994, I agreed with Vince, Shane shouldn't have walked out on Vince. But I also agreed with Arn, Vince was being a tad OTT!

Vince: As much as I hate to say it, I want to put my son out of business...

Now Vince had gone insane, the last time I had heard him say this was with Ted Turner and WCW, and I know how serious he was then. I was the first to speak out.

Oliver: No Vince, this will not happen.

Vince looked angry, it was clear he expected everyone to just stay seated and shut up.

Oliver: You've crossed a line here Vince, I've stuck with you through every bad patch this company has gone through. Montreal, I was there. The InVasion, I was there. The ditches and dumps this company has gone, and are going through, hell I was there... But I'm not gonna sit here and let you talk of financially destroying your son...

A smile appeared on Vince's face, he looked fit to burst into laughter.

Oliver: I quit...

The smile on Vince's face disappeared just as quick as it had popped up, I got up and walked out of the room, slamming the door behind him, as soon as I was outside I couldn't believe what I had done, this was certainly not in my character. I had stuck with Vince through everything, and now I was unemployed.

...:::Home June 28th 2004:::...

I still couldn't believe I had quit, I hadn't shaved since I walked out, I slumped down on my couch, a house warming present from Vincent K McMahon. It was the same couch as you see in the VIP rooms on SmackDown! and RAW. Those nice black leather one's. Vince hadn't bought it, he simply took it, I switched on my television, a house warming present from another close friend of mine, Steve Williams-Anderson. Stone Cold Steve Austin. I was about to watch WrestleMania XX, when I saw Shane McMahon on the screen.

Oliver: What the hell is Shane doing on MTV?

...:::OMEGA Wrestling Press Conference June 25th 2004:::...

Shane: It's come to my attention that OMEGA Wrestling has opened up to the public. A lot of rumors are aloft right now and a lot of people have been asking me questions. Why did I walk from WWE? Why am I opening my own promotion? Who have I signed? When will it air? I'm here today to answer these questions...

Suit #1 Are you doing this to run against your Father, owner of the WWE name, Vincent K McMahon?

Shane: I'm not doing this against my Dad, as you will all know the WWE has been going through a mass slump lately. All I'm doing this for is to prove that I can. Because one day I will be owner of the WWE, and if I can prove I can run a company now I'll be ready in twenty years time, I haven't spoken to my Father yet but I hope he will...

...:::Home June 28th 2004:::...

I jumped out of my seat and ran toward my phone. I quickly stabbed buttons and waited while the phone rang...

Oliver: Come on... Come on... Pick up...

the answer phone.

Oliver: Dammit!

I slammed the phone down and walked back to the sofa, I thought I should record the press conference, if Vince could see Shane was doing this for the WWE, he wouldn't want him out of business, and I could get my job back.

...:::OMEGA Wrestling Press Conference June 25th 2004:::...

Shane: ...Another question please...

Suit #2: What contracts, if any, have you signed for OMEGA?

Shane: I have a three week contract with MTV to air OMEGA Wrestling TV. It will first air on the 7th of August and at the end of August will be a Pay-Per-View on DirecTV, if in that short time MTV are happy with OMEGA I have been promised a 24 week contract. If MTV are unhappy at the end of August OMEGA will air once a month on DirecTV...

Suit #2: Any workers...?

Shane: Well yes. I have signed an announcer for OMEGA Wrestling TV. The brilliant Joey Bonsignore, who used to work for Major League Wrestling... I have also signed a few very big names to wrestle. I can't reveal them yet, but I can say that one was a huge superstar at WWE, one was a huge superstar at WCW. And the other a huge superstar for ECW... I suppose I can reveal a couple of other names I have signed. Page Falkenburg, better known as Diamond Dalls Page has signed a 6 month contract. Bobby Heenan will also be appearing at an OMEGA event. Michael Watson, or Mikey Whipwreck, has also signed a contract. There are still a lot of signings to come... I hope that answers your questions. That will be the last one. Thank you.

re: OMEGA Wrestling

...:::Home June 29th 2004:::...

I still hadn't heard anything from Vince. I had left two messages on his cell phone and a few messages with his personal assistant at the WWE HQ, but he hadn't got back to me. I wasn't sure what I was going to tell him when I did get through, but I know I should apologise. The phone rang, I was seated at my dining table reading a newspaper, I put the paper down, leaned over and grabbed hold of my phone.

Oliver: Oliver Fitzgerald, how may I help?

I answered formally in the hope it would be Vince, instead I got Vince's son.

Shane: Ollie! How on Earth are you?

Oliver: Shane? I'm fine, thanks, how are you?

Shane: Let's just get straight to the point. I heard you walked out of WWE. Nice one, I want you to check your mail. There should be a letter addressed to you. It's an invitation...

I got out of my seat and walked toward the door, sure enough there was mail.

Shane: There should be a big brown envelope, inside is an invitation to the OMEGA preview show. It's invite only. I want you there.

Before I had a chance to answer back Shane had hung up. I looked at the invite, sure enough it was all Shane had said.

quote
OMEGA Wrestling Preview Show
July 5th 2004
There was also instructions to get to the arena. I was sure to go. I sure as hell wasn't going to get another job at WWE. I'd talk to Shane instead.

re: OMEGA Wrestling

...:::OMEGA House Show 5th July 2004:::...

The house show was impressive, it was two hours of very good wrestling from the already signed members of the OMEGA Wrestling team. There were only fifty people at the small arena in Conneticut. These were the only people Shane invited. I didn't recognize many people there, there were about ten familiar faces. After the show Shane came into the ring with a microphone.

Shane: Laides and gentlemen, what you have just witnessed is the future of wrestling. You could say that the people you have just witnessed are the omega of wrestling today... I have invited this small amount of people here because I think you could help. You people could help to make OMEGA the biggest and best name in wrestling today... I am looking for twenty-five of the fifty people here today to be on the OMEGA board. These twenty-five people will help to make OMEGA Wrestling what I have already promised it to be... looking for two more announcer's, four referee's, five production workers, two medics, five writers, five road agents and one trainer. This adds up to twenty-four... I am then looking for one man to be my right hand man, my second in command...

The small crowd began to chatter among themselves, I stayed quiet, hanging on every word Shane said.

Shane: You will all be notified in the next week if you have received a place in the OMEGA team... Thank you, have a safe trip home... I hope you enjoyed your evening...

re: OMEGA Wrestling

...:::Home July 12th 2004:::...

Shane had promised a week until we got the results of who would be part of the OMEGA team. It was the seventh day and still nothing, I had spoken to a few people who were at the event. Rocky Johnson got the role of Trainer, Ed Ferrera and Bobby Boil had got the two announcer places alongside Joey Styles. Billy Silverman had got one of the four referee places. Tommy Carlucci, Mark Melaccio and David Sahadi had got three of the five production spots. Michael Leisner had got one of the two medical places. I hadn't heard anything else from anybody else. I was pleased for these people, but I still wanted a place. I had been drinking buddies with Shane for years so working with him would be amazing. It would also be good to stay close to the McMahon name. I had known Vince since I was fifteen years old, and only two weeks ago I walked out from his company, it wasn't a good feeling, Vince was like a Father to me. If I could continue to work with the McMahon family, I wouldn't feel so bad. And than, just as I was set to leave the house to get the food shopping a letter popped through the letter box. I ripped it open and read.

quote
To Oliver Fitzgerald.
We are pleased to welcome you to the OMEGA Wrestling backstage team. You will be taking the role of head-booker, if you wish to take this place in the company please reply to the e-mail address provided below. If you do not wish to participate in the OMEGA team than we wish you well in the future.

Headoffice@OmegaWrestling.com

Shane McMahon
OMEGA Wrestling Owner
I was speechless. Head booker was Shane's right hand man job and I would not miss it for the world. I e-mailed back and got information about when I was first needed. I would be flown out to what was now known as the OMEGA Amazing Future Arena in Conneticut, where the preview show was held the week before. I would have to leave next week.

re: OMEGA Wrestling

...:::OMEGA Amazing Future Arena 21st July 2004:::...

It was like the first day of school, Everybody was excited at their new job, working for Shane McMahon. We were in a big hallway, just at the entrance to the OAF Arena. The people here were the twent-five Shane hand picked to be on the OMEGA team. The staff were:

quote
Announcers:
Ed Ferrera
Bobby Boil

Referees:
Billy Silverman
Robert Brisko
Mike Sparks
Scott Armstrong

Production:
David Sahadi
Tommy Carlucci
Mark Melaccio
Ubaldo Fasano
David Lowe

Medical:
Michael Liesnar
Becky Givens

Writers:
Janie Engle
Dominik Pagliaro
Josh Hedges
Kevin Kleinrock
Josh Gross

Road Agents:
Skandar Ackbar
Jon Price
Andre Baker
Fredric G. Rubenstein
Ken Taylor

Trainers:
Rocky Johnson
And then of course me, the head booker. It was a step up from where I was at WWE which was even better, and just as Shane was doing this to prove he could, so was I! Just then Shane McMahon and Joey Styles walked into the room, everybody stopped talking as Shane bellowed out.

Shane: Welcome one and all once again to the OMEGA Amazing Future Arena here in Bridgewood Conneticut. This is where all of our shows will be taped. Than once a month we will move to a different state for our Pay-Per-Views. Our top three in command here are me, of course, than second in command will be Oliver Fitzgerald and than last but certainly not least we have Bonsignore, aka Joey Styles. Make yourselves at home. Soon I will be giving the roster list, which, I hope you will all enjoy... Fitzgerald... With me...

I walked toward Shane and Joey as everybody else continued to chatter, we walked along a few hallways before getting to an large office-room, Shane opened the door and ushered me in. There was a young girl sitting on the desk.

Shane: Here is your office Ollie... this is Sophie, your own personal assistant. Sophie this is the new head booker, Oliver Fitzgerald. You'll find a copy of the roster list in the top drawer. I want you to draft me a card for our first show. Than I'll get the writers to fine-line it, and on August 7th, you'll see you're product, live on TV... How does that sound?

Oliver: That's brilliant, thanks a lot man!

Shane laughed as he and Joes walked away from my new office, I sat down, opened the top drawer and read the roster list.

re: OMEGA Wrestling

I had been given the task of booking the first ever televised OMEGA show. There were two things for certain. Number 1: It had to be the best card ever. Number 2: It HAD to be the best card ever! It was a very talented roster, with some brilliant skills. I had been told of the two titles at offer right now. The Lionheart title, a belt for the workers under 225 pounds, much like the WWE's cruiserweight division. The other title was the Heavyweight title, self explanatory. I was going to have both titles on the line at our first OMEGA event. The only problem being that the matches would not be taped for another two weeks so nothing could be written in stone. After about half hour of planning I cam out with the draft for the title matches, there would be a short, one night tournament for the Lionheart title and a singles match for the Heavyweight title.

quote
OMEGA Lionheart Tournament:
AJ Styles /Vs./ Juventud Guerrera
TAKA Michinoku /Vs./ Low-Ki
Jerry Lynn /Vs./ Christopher Daniels
The winners of each match would go through to a 3-Way for the Lionheart Title.

OMEGA Heavyweight Title
Sting /Vs./ Raven
I wanted two more matches to take place on the night, but I wasn't sure who I wanted participating. I wanted to have the rest of the upper midcarders working as they would draw in the fans for the following weeks. Again after much thought I decided on the following match:

quote
Al Snow /Vs./ D'Lo Brown
This added up to 6 matches for our first card, which I believed to be a strong card which could make for great viewing. If all went well there could even be a few storylines or feuds in the pipelines. I had also booked for Stone Cold Steve Austin to be at the event. It definitely looked up to be a good event!

re: OMEGA Wrestling

If anyone is reading this you may notice the dates have changed. I felt that if I had a month before the first show there would be nothing else to do in that month, so the dates are 2 weeks (I think) forward. I should be posting the first show tonight or tomorrow! JOY!

---------

...:::23rd July, OMEGA Amazing Future Arena:::...

So the matches for the first ever OMEGA Wrestling TV event was set, it seemed brilliant to me, but for some reason I was worried Shane wouldn't be so pleased. I didn't doubt for one moment it was a bad card, I was just worried that Shane wouldn't think the same thing! I got to Shane's office, the piece of paper the card was wrote up on in my hand and just as I was about to knock on the door Joey Styles stepped out.

Joey: Hey Ollie!

Oliver: Oh hey man, is Shane in there by any chance?

Joey: Depends, is that the card?

He was pointing to the piece of paper in my hand, I pulled it up closer to me.

Oliver: What, this? Yeah it is...

Joey signalled for him to see the paper, I handed it too him, he stared at it for a moment before handing it back.

Joey: Nice! So whatcha need to see McMahon for?

Oliver: He... asked to see it...

For some reason Joey laughed, I wasn't sure why but something had certainly amused him!

Joey: Don't show him. Shane likes surprises, trust me. It's a fantastic card, surprise him with it. When he sees it, he'll be speechless!

Oliver: You sure?

Joey: Positive! Trust me!

The thought of a surprise card would be brilliant. But Shane had asked me to show him personally. Not sure what I wanted to do, I decided to take Joey's advice. He was right, it was an amazing card, nothing could go wrong with it!

Oliver: OK, I'll do it! August 7th will be a surprise event!

...:::July 25th, OMEGA Amazing Future Arena:::...

The breaking news today was that six of the workers working on open contracts have signed exclusively to OMEGA Wrestling, OMEGA offered for AJ Styles, CM Punk, Colt Cobana, Devon Storm, Harry Smith, Homicide, juventud Guerrera, Mikey Whipwreck and Sonny Siaki to all sign exclusively to OMEGA. AJ Styles, CM Punk and Sonny Siaki all turned down the offer because of commitments to NWA Total Non-Stop Action. The others however all jumped at the chance.

re: OMEGA Wrestling

...:::July 26th OMEGA Amazing Future:::...

It was now less than two weeks until the first ever televised events, everybody was extremely pumped about it. Without even seeing any events the public had already got excited. They had been churning out adverts on MTV for two days and interest had sky rocketed! Tikctes to the event were also set to go on sale tomorrow. It was expected they would sell out the Arena before 9pm, just 12 hours after tickets were available... Shane still had no idea about the card, but he wanted to know. It was on this day I was approached by Shane himself..

Shane: Hey Ollie, I gave you the assignment a working week ago and I still haven't seen the card, what's with that?

I had to think quickly, I wasn't going to give in and tell him but I needed to think of something to tell him.

Oliver: Shane, do you trust me?

Shane: Yeah, of course I do. You'd still be unemployed if I didn't trust you... Why you ask?

Oliver: Well I can't show you the card, and you've got to trust me. Me and Joey have decided to stage a secret show for you, you'll be as clueless as the fans. And if you're as clueless as the fans, that would give you even more the reason to mark out when you see the event, right?

Shane laughed.

Shane: I'm sure you've heard these words from my Dad's mouth on numerous times, I'm counting on you... But if you screw up you're jobs up for grabs!

Shane laughed again, I surely wasn't. I still had the feeling that he wouldn't like it.

Shane: Seriousley, I want a good card. I trust you can put on a good card. But this will be the most important night of my career, if it screws up I'll have a lot to make up for. If the first night isn't good, what's gonna make people want to see it again!

Oliver: You won't be disappointed...

I didn't finish the sentence, I wanted to say, you won't be disappointed, too much, I hope! I was begging to think the secret card was a mistake.

Oliver: Lemme show you the card...

Shane: No... I'm looking forward to it now. What would life be like without risks...

He had a point, so just as he would take a risk and hope it would be good, so would I!

re: OMEGA Wrestling

...:::July 29th, OMEGA Amazing Future Arena:::...

The last ticket for the Televised OMEGA event had just sold, the first ever night was a complete sell-out. This made me think two ways. one was was that this could be brilliant, everyone would go away happy and it would be an amazing night. Number two however was the complete oppositem my secret card would make OMEGA bankrupt, I know that was a long shot, the card I had booked had a good mix of veterans and new talent, but it could still happen. August 7th would either make or brake my career. And things were about to get even more complicated, just as I was sitting in my office I got a phone call from Mr. Vincent K. McMahon himself!

Vince: Oliver Joe Fitzgerald, it's been weeks since we spoke, how the devil are you?

Oliver: Vince?

Vince: Haha, yes it's Vince. I saw you've been snapped up by Shane, nice going there. I hope you do well.

Oliver: Why are you?

Vince: I've got an offer for you. How does thirty thousand sound?

Oliver: For what?

Vince: Fifty thousand a month, I'd say that's a nice little sum of money...

Oliver: I don't understand...

Vince: I want you back on the team Fitzgerald. I'll give you twice what Shane is paying you, you'll have immediate effect as head booker at WWE from the moment I hang up this phone, Mom's the word Fitzgerald.

Oliver: No Vince! I don't agree with what you're trying to do to your son, and no money is going to change that.

Vince: How about immediate control over the WWE the second I stop breathing...

Oliver: Full... Ownership?

Vince: You'll be heir to my throne...

I was confused to say the slightest. I had been given the choice. I stay with Shane, or I go to Vince. It was a tough decision. I didn't agree with Vince trying to put Shane out of business but what Vince had just offered me was... Amazing... I had to think, so I quickly hung up, it was something I would have to think about, alot!

re: OMEGA Wrestling

[My game has finally started people, the fun shall now begin!]

---------

...:::August 1st OMEGA Amazing Future Arena:::...

Vince had given me until August 6th to make my decision, it was certainly the biggest decision of my life. In other news the card was given to the OMEGA roster and they had started to prepare for their matches. I was particularly impressed with the skills of Christopher Daniels, it was clear he was going to go far in the business.

The OMEGA Report - 1/8/4

- The idea was to have Stone Cold Steve Austin feud with Diamond Dallas Page, the feud would 'rage on' until the new year, but SCSA turned it down saying that DDP was not up to his league. The writing team were not happy with SCSA's attitude. The feud will still go on, but when DDP has given himself a more distinguished character.

- The winner of the World Heavyweight match at the televised event is still being discussed with the team split half and half who should come out victorious.

- A decision however was made today, this time on the topic of the announcers for OMEGA Wrestling TV. Joey Styles will be the main announcer with a new guest commentator every week. On August 7th, Upper Midacrder Steve Corino will be joining the desk during the show. In coming weeks expect superstars such as Sting, Steve Austin, Diamond Dalas Page and Don Callis to make appearances. Ed Ferrera will work as a Ring Announcer and Bobby Boil will work as the 'backstage correspondent' or interviewer!

- With Christopher Daniels impressing staff and wrestlers alike backstage it has been decided that he will play a main part in the comming weeks. The writing team are currently looking for someone to feud with him.

re: OMEGA Wrestling

Yes, I would like to make a comment! You're diary hasn't even really started and I'm already hooked! Your backstory is so characterful (if that's even a word!) and very, very interesting! Can't wait for the first show! I just hope your write ups are as good as the rest of this story!
