RAW (2/26/2007):

0. Invasion?

During the opening video for RAW, something incredibly strange happens. At first, it appeared to be the normal RAW opening when the feed suddenly shifts to amateur footage shown outside the arena RAW will be held at tonight. The two voices from the strange No Way Out video can be heard again, arguing over whether or not they should head inside. The pair argue until one says that the other knows that their mentor want them to just watch for now. A sigh can be heard, followed by a voice saying fine, before the feed shifts back to the standard RAW opening.

1. Basic Thuganomics

RAW officially opens with John Cena's old "Basic Thuganomics" song playing and the fans erupting in boos. The mere sight of Cena elicits a huge negative reaction but Cena just flips the crowd the bird before heading into the ring. Once the crowd dies down, Cena begins to talk about how, at first, everything was fine between him and Taker. Then, he made one mistake during a match against Rated R-KO and The Undertaker began to disrespect him. It was then that he decided that he'd fix two problems at No Way Out. First, he took out Edge and Randy Orton so brutally that doctors say they will most likely miss Wrestlemania. Second, he destroyed The Undertaker. With the fans booing like there's no tomorrow, Cena finishes his promo by telling The Undertaker that he should respect the Undisputed champion, even if it takes another ass-whooping come Wrestlemania.

2. Rey Mysterio vs. Muhammed Hassan

After Cena's promo is over, Hassan makes his way to the ring without his manager, Daivari, but with a microphone. He rants a bit that the only reason he can't have Daivari with him is because of racism in America but he is interrupted by Mysterio's entrance. This was another good match between the two that ended when Hassan rolled Mysterio up with a fist full of tights for the cheating win.
Winner: Muhammed Hassan

3. A Voice For A Monster

Paul Burchill is standing backstage with Todd Grisham when Todd asks him for some reaction after his match with Kane. When Burchill just stood their standing, Grisham tried to ask again but was interrupted by a very familiar voice. Paul Heyman walked onto screen saying that Grisham needs to leave his client alone and talk to his manager instead. When Todd gave Heyman a confused look, the creator of ECW sighed before condescendingly explaining to Grisham and the crowd that he will be taking care of Burchill's career from now on. As for a reaction from last night's match, Heyman says that Kane got what he deserved and that Finlay will get the exact same thing tonight. "Sincerely, Ichabod" can then be heard through throughout the arena and Burchill heads to the ring with Heyman.

4. Finlay vs. Paul Burchill

A great showing from both men in this match that was an impressive brawling spectacle. Finlay took control during the early goings only to have Paul Heyman try to distract him. This allowed Burchill to attack Finlay from behind and turn the match in his favor. After that, the match was back and forth but it ended after Burchill hit a Curb Stomp followed by a standing shooting star press for the pinfall victory.
Winner: Paul Burchill

5. Chris Hero vs. Super Crazy

Super Crazy got a moderate reaction while Chris Hero's entrance got quite the negative reaction. Crazy tried to put up a fight but between interference from Claudio Castagnoli and good wrestling by Hero, it was only a matter of time before he was hit by the Hero's Welcome and pinned for the win.
Winner: Chris Hero

6. So Much For The Celebration

Immediately after the match, Castagnoli got in the ring with Hero with a pair of microphones and the pair began to talk about how they're the greatest team ever and how they proved that at No Way Out. Suddenly, a voice comes from the crowd and the camera shifts to show The Hooliganz high up at a crowd entrance. They say that The Kings of Wrestling proved nothing at No Way Out other than the fact that they're a couple of cheaters. The two teams argued back and forth which lead to Hero claiming that The Kings of Wrestling are the world's greatest tag team. This sentiment brought Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin out from the back and into the ring. They argued with KoW over what they just said when The Hooliganz jumped in on the argument as well. The three teams each said they were the best but Castagnoli said that he and Hero are the "it" team in the WWE. Familiar music played and MNM appeared at the top of the entrance ramp. Melina said that all three of the other teams are a bunch of idiots and Nitro and Mercury are the best team in the WWE. All four teams argued a bit more when JBL appeared on the titantron. He said that this will all be settled next week on RAW when it will be The Kings of Wrestling vs. The Hooliganz vs. MNM vs. The World's Greatest Tag Team for the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Titles. He then orders all four teams to leave the ring so RAW can get back on track.

7. Bryan Danielson vs. Carlito

Bryan Danielson continues to get larger and larger pops with every entrance while Carlito got a moderate cheer, evidence of the fact that he has been underused of late. Both men put on a great match but it was only a matter of time before Bryan Danielson locked in the Cattle Mutilation and Carlito was forced to tap out. Despite this, Danielson helped his opponent to his feet and the two shook hands to the delight of the crowd.
Winner: Bryan Danielson

8. Give Me A Hell Yeah!

The sound of glass shattering caused the crowd to explode in cheers as Stone Cold Steve Austin made his way to the ring. Once he got there, he started talking about how he'd been away from wrestling for so long shooting his movie. They showed a few clips of it and Austin talked about how it was a pleasure to kick some ass on the big screen. He goes on to say that he's talked to JBL backstage and they've agreed that Austin will be at Wrestlemania in some way. Stone Cold then called for a couple of Steve-weisers and began to drink in the ring. After drinking the first two beers, Austin called for another set when highly familiar music begins to play. CM Punk walks out from the back and begins yelling at Austin that he's an idiot for drinking that poison in the ring and the fans are idiots for cheering him on. Austin fires back that he doesn't even know who Punk is so why should he listen to him. Austin chugs down the two beers and signals for another pair while Punk retorted that Stone Cold got his name for kicking the ass of an untrained businessman and for drinking beer in the ring. Stone Cold asks Punk why he has such a problem with beer which Punk responded with "Because I'm Straight-Edge and that means I'm better than you". Austin glared at Punk and told the crowd that if they wanted CM Punk to get into the ring and get his ass handed to him, then give him a "Hell Yeah". The audience shouts exactly that but Punk just replies that he won't wrestle a drunk simply because other drunks tell him to. Punk leaves, Austin shrugs, drinks a couple more beers, and RAW goes to commercial.

9. Rob Van Dam vs. Chris Benoit

Another great match was put on by these two former ECW stars. The match went back and forth with both men hitting various signature moves. Benoit, however, was the one who came out on top after hitting the trivesta of German suplexes, the diving headbutt, and locking in the Sharpshooter all in a row. After the flurry of moves, Rob Van Dam was forced to tap out.
Winner: Chris Benoit

10. Rock Stars Don't Deserve Titles

Benoit immediately signals for his microphone and begins to rant about Chris Jericho. He says that he understands that since Jericho is a rock star he got the night off in order to play with his band. He says that is despicable for a man who is supposed to be a wrestler first. Benoit says that if Jericho isn't going to focus solely on wrestling, he doesn't deserve a wrestling title. He finishes by saying that he wants a rematch for the United States title and, if it isn't to much trouble for the rock star, he wants an answer at Smackdown.

11. John Cena vs. Triple H

John Cena sparked another massive negative reaction as he made his way to the ring in a throwback jersey and wearing a backwards baseball cap. Triple H, however, got a strong pop for his entrance. Both men put on good match that had the fans on their feet through out. The match went on for roughly fifteen minutes with neither Triple H or Cena gaining control for very long. The referee was knocked down after Cena shoved him out of the way but Triple H wass able to hit a spinebuster on Cena before the Undisputed champion was able to get in any illegal blows. With his opponent knocked down, Triple H posed to the crowd before turning around to begin setting Cena up for the Pedigree. However, he's met with a superkick to the face. Shawn Michaels then slips out of the ring and escapes through the crowd as Cena and the referee both recover from their respective blows. Cena brings Triple H to his feet before hitting an FU on the Cerebral Assassin. Cena then covered Triple H and was able to pick up the victory with help from HBK. The Champ grabbed his belt and posed when the crowd began to cheer and The Undertaker, heavily bandaged around the ribs, ran to the ring and began to brawl with Cena. Eventually Taker's Wrestlemania opponent flees the ring and the Phenom rolls back his eyes and poses in the ring as RAW ends.
Winner: John Cena

Quick Results:

1. Muhammed Hassan defeated Rey Mysterio
2. Paul Burchill defeated Finlay
3. Chris Hero defeated Super Crazy
4. Bryan Danielson defeated Carlito
5. Chris Benoit defeated Rob Van Dam
6. John Cena defeated Triple H with interference from Shawn Michaels

Firstly, great show.

I like what you are doing with Cena, make him a bit edgier if possible. Heel Cena>Face Cena no doubt.

Love the idea of Heyman managing Birchill. Should be great to really elevate him.

Not sure how much I like the Punk/Austin thing. Sure it's easy to book but I personally wouldn't have Punk feuding with someone like Stone Cold over the issue of drinking beer- I feel that's more of something that could be added into a promo later on in a feud for better effectivity. None the less a program with the 2 should be interesting and I can see a Wrestlemania match in the horizon.

In all, great show. Look forward to reading some more.

Cena promo really was good, it gave out an explaination for his heel turn. Surprised Taker didn't play any mind games or something in that promo though.

Burchill to ECW? Good move if it happens, don't even think i'm right that there is an ECW as you don't write it up but oh well.

Fatal 4 Way Tag Team match should be good and i'm also hoping that MNM win as they are the only decent tag team there really. Or maybe WGTT!

Austin and Punk at Wrestlemania? Hope so as this should be a great feud. A young talented superstar against a veteran and roughneck. Great segement there but Punk doesn't suit heel at all, make his a face in some way or another.

The main event was awesome with two feuds building up heat, Michaels getting one over HHH and Taker and Cena end up in a brawl. Like it!

Overall i would give this show a good 8.75/10, the show was good but i think that you need to make a new feuds and nothing really happened amazing. Wrestlemania should be all hyped up for well though but only if you make this Punk-Austin feud brilliant!

The feud's going to become about more than just beer, don't worry about that. I have some plans but I figured having Punk come out during that would be the best way to kick things off. Maybe a bit early but it just seemed like the best way to spark the feud.

Nope, I don't have ECW. I turned Heyman into a manager like he was for Brock Lesnar a few years back. I wanted to keep Burchill as a silent non-promo cutter but I needed some way to have him get his point across, therefore I needed a manager. I then figured who better to manage the person I'm pushing as a future star than Paul Heyman?

I like Punk as a heel. He's a bit more versatile because I can play up the straight-edge more than just "I'm straight-edge, everyone love me because I'm a good role model". Instead I can make him a militant who goes around smacking beers out of random people's hands. Much more fun !

Heh good show, the angle with those two mystery men is very interesting, and the big tag team segment was great, should be a good match next week. Burchill with Heyman is a good choice, I hope he has a good run towards Mania and maybe gets involved in the US title match (seeing as we've already had Benoit vs. Jericho one on one). Punk feuding with Austin will no doubt get him way over, good move.

Maybe to add a little variety you could occassionally write segments out in full (like, with speech seperate from description as slim occassionally does in his diary). Don't need too much detail but it could help you portray people's character better.

Not enough speech is a problem I've had in this diary simply because of the writing style. Smackdown's already 3/4 of the way written up but I'll see if I can pull something like you describe off during one of the promos.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. Expect me to step up my game a bit now that I have some real competition from Shape, Slim Jim, and everybody else. I'll be posting shows more often (probably on a schedule of Preview, Show, Skip A Day, Preview, Show, Skip A Day, repeat) and doing what I can to improve the diary overall.

Wow, RAW certainly went above what I expected.

The John Cena changing back to Doctor of Thuganomics? freakin' sweet. Team Xtreme is right, Heel Cena > Face Cena.

Great move giving Burchill a manager, and Heyman's the man when it comes to managing monsters.

Who the hell are those two people who keeps on talking every opening of a show?

Last comment, so I see you're continuing the HHH - HBK feud, that's good.

filter's review of the show: a four out five stars. lol.

Time for blodes super long review.

Segment 0: Very interesting angle you've got going here. I smell either VKM or the Second City Saints. Although, I'm sure I'm wrong you can't blame a guy for guessing.

Segment 1: Heel Cena > Face Cena It's that simple.

Segment 2: Don't really like the feud between these two, can't explain it, it just seems like they don't "click" know what I mean?

Segment 3: *bleep*ing yes! Heyman as a manager for a silent but deadly monster always works. I'll be VERY interested to see where Burchill goes from here. Too bad you can't do an MITB match on EWR, I would have banked for Burchill to win.

Segment 4: Default squash. Meh.

Segment 5: Chris Hero pwns. I'm a Hero mark. There's only one guy I mark harder for and he's in TNA right now.

Segment 6: That seems like a PPV quality match. No offense or anything but why on earth would you put that on RAW?

Segment 7: See #4.

Segment 8: I've always seen Punk feuding with Stone Cold or The Sandman. Either one would work. But since you have Stone Cold, make sure you put Punk over Stone Cold.

Segment 9: See #4. Although, lord knows you shouldn't be using RVD in squashes...

Segment 10: Nice angle. I could see Benoit and Jericho doing this. Benoit as the guy who just wants to wrestle and kick ass. Nice.

Segment 11: Nice ME. May not be much in terms of quality, but crowd reaction has got to be huge.

Anyway, I give tonight an 8.8/10. I've seen better from you but it was still solid. Seems like a *very* high quality RAW show today.

Good Raw, I can already see some Wrestlemania matches in the horizon. Punk/Austin should be good, I wanna see Punk pull out a Stunner or something. I think that the tag team match will end up being TLC at WM, and you have lots of shows and many combinations for all four teams to carry the feud.

I've been really impressed with this diary throughout, and I really think you deserve a mention in the Hall of Fame, this has been a great read so far. I've decided that I'll repay what you've done for many of us diary writers, and I'll give you a long comment, that you will hopefully enjoy

Firstly, like most people in this thread have said, Heel Cena > Face Cena. I like the arrogance type gimmick you're giving him, it really boosts his character, and I prefer Cena like that then a fan-favourite any day of the week.

I really liked the direction you've taken Burchill in this diary, he deserves more credit then he is getting by Vince in real life, and the monster type gimmick that you've gave him is doing extremely well. Now that you've given Burchill a manager, in Paul-E I'm expecting good things coming from that.

The four way tag team match is going to be awesome, I'm seeing Kings of Wrestling retain, but some great tag team action anyway.

Austin/Punk is going to be a great feud, it'll bring in audiences. I read through Slim's older diary, and he had Punk feud with another legend in Sting, and that was a stellar feud. I see the exact same here, I see some great angles that you could pull off.

Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit = Gold!

With Wrestlemania coming up, I sense more great shows from you, especially with feuds such as Undertaker/Cena and HBK/HHH, I'm really looking forward to those two feuds getting better as the shows go by.

Anyways keep going with this diary, one of the best reads I've had since Slim's diary, best of luck to you

Some quick responses to feedback.

Segment 0: Very interesting angle you've got going here. I smell either VKM or the Second City Saints. Although, I'm sure I'm wrong you can't blame a guy for guessing.
Thanks. I'm planning on debuting the actual wrestlers on the next RAW. Just keep watching and keep trying to figure it out. I think everyone will like who it ends up being.

quote

While I can't do a standard MITB match in EWR, I am planning on doing something like it. I just need to work out how I'll pull it off. Glad you like Heyman as manager.

quote
Segment 4: Default squash. Meh.
I generally don't squash people. I do, however, use a quick writing style that makes it look like a squash. Generally, a squash will be described as "So-and-So had control the entire match and hit his finisher for the win within two minutes".
quote
Segment 6: That seems like a PPV quality match. No offense or anything but why on earth would you put that on RAW?
It IS a PPV quality match. I'm trying to build as strong of a tag team division as I possibly can so this is a way to pull it off. However, there is a reasoning behind this whole deal.
quote
Segment 11: Nice ME. May not be much in terms of quality, but crowd reaction has got to be huge.
I believe the quality was 70-80% (mostly carried by the high brawling scores) but, as you said, crowd reaction was huge, over 90%.

quote

I've said in other diaries, as well as this one, that I prefer heels over faces any day in EWR. They're just so much more versatile and fun to use. Cena's going to get a meanstreak now that he's "gone bad" and it's been pretty fun to write.

quote
Austin/Punk is going to be a great feud, it'll bring in audiences. I read through Slim's older diary, and he had Punk feud with another legend in Sting, and that was a stellar feud. I see the exact same here, I see some great angles that you could pull off.
I really enjoyed the Sting/Punk feud in Slim's Revival diary and I'm hoping I can pull something like it off. I've got a big angle on the way that'll really kick this feud up a notch. Keep watching to find out!
quote
Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit = Gold!
Heck yeah, I always get 100% quality when they face off. As soon as I decide to main event the two, I feel a 100% match on the way.

Thanks again for all the great feedback everybody. It's nice to see the diary really start taking off.

Two Feuds, One Match
March 2nd, 2007

Combustible Elements
John Cena was able to defeat Triple H this past Monday when Shawn Michaels interfered and played the Cerebral Assassin some Sweet Chin Music. This event was followed by the appearence of The Undertaker, heavily bandaged but more than ready to fight. The American Bad Ass immediately began to brawl with Cena as RAW ended. This Friday, by order of John Bradshaw Layfield, all four of the combustible elements will combine in a tag team main event. Will Triple H and The Undertaker succeed in defeating Shawn Michaels and John Cena or will it be their former partners who take home the victory?

The Challenge
Chris Benoit had some strong words for Chris Jericho this past Monday after he said that a person like Y2J who would rather play music than wrestle don't deserve to hold any titles. He followed the accusations with a challenge for Jericho to put his recently acquired United States championship up for grabs in a rematch. This Friday, Chris Jericho is scheduled to face William Regal in singles action. Will Jericho pick up the win and what will his answer to Chris Benoit be?

Tag Team Turmoil
The WWE tag team division exploded on RAW when The Kings of Wrestling single-handedly angered three of the best tag teams in the WWE today. JBL immediately went and made a match for this Monday where all four teams will face off for the Undisputed Tag Team championships. On Smackdown, however, one half of each tag team will face off with another half of a different tag team in singles competition. Will Johnny Nitro or Brian Kendrick come out the winner in their match? Will Chris Hero prove why he's part of the current top tag team or will Shelton Benjamin pull off an upset?

The Return of Money In The Bank
At a recent stockholder's meeting, WWE General Manager John Bradshaw Layfield stated that there will be yet another Money In The Bank match at Wrestlemania. However, to differentiate from earlier versions of this match, there will be only four participants and rather than facing off in a ladder match it will instead by a four-way elimination match. When questioned about these decision, JBL said the four wrestler limit was so only the best wrestlers could get into the match while the change to an elimination match was so it would be absolutely clear whoever wins the match is the best man while a ladder match could be won by anyone as long as they run up the ladder fast enough. The first qualifying match will be this Friday when Rey Mysterio goes one-on-one with Booker T. Which of the former World champions will get a shot at becoming Mr. Money In The Bank?

Other News

Also, Bryan Danielson takes on the man he defeated for the Cruiserweight championship, Gregory Helms. Will Danielson be able to defeat the former champion?

Finally, both RAW and Heat have had strange videos that are apparently from two young men. Will this pair make their presence known on Smackdown as well?
