RAW (1/15/2007):

1. Cena and Booker Insult Trading

John Cena comes to the ring and talks about how he defeated Finlay last Friday on Smackdown before insulting King Booker which brings the competition to the ring. Booker and Cena immediately start trading insults with Cena making fun of how Booker calls himself a king but lacks any gold and Booker talking about how Cena is a peasent. The segment ends with Cena trying to get Booker to fight him right then but the number one contender leaves the ring.

2. Paul Burchill vs. Johnny Nitro

Burchill is gaining more and more heat but the fans are slightly confused by him facing another heel. However, Burchill destroys Nitro but when he has Nitro set up for the C-4, Melina jumped onto the ring apron to try and plead for Burchill to not hit the move. Burchill just shakes his head and finishes Nitro off. He then walks off while Melina and Joey Mercury try to help Nitro to his feet.
Winner: Paul Burchill

3. Kid Kash vs. Chris Hero

Hero is a great technical and high-flying talent for his size, which showed in this match. Hero went into this match without Castagnoli but still did very well. Kash put up a fight but Hero was able to hit the Hero's Welcome for the pinfall victory.
Winner: Chris Hero

4. Jamie Noble vs. Brian Kendrick

A great high-flying match. Noble did well and this match along with the first helped show why The Pitbulls were reformed. Kendrick picked up the win with a Sliced Bread #2. However, he was then attacked by Claudio Castagnoli who hit the Ricola Bomb on Kendrick before running off when Paul London ran to the ring.
Winner: Brian Kendrick

5. Explain Yourself

Mysterio makes his way to the ring and once again begins to talk about Chris Benoit's recent actions. Mysterio says that he understands that Benoit's problems are personal but Rey thinks that because he is Benoit's friend, he deserves an explanation. However, Benoit never shows up so Mysterio ends up shrugging his shoulders and leaves the ring.

6. Matt Hardy vs. Gregory Helms

Despite not being on television, Hardy picks up quite the face reaction. Helms and Hardy know each other well after their OMEGA days and it shows with some great ring psychology. Helms was able to pick up the win after hitting a low blow without the referee noticing followed up by the Nightmare on Helms Street for the win.
Winner: Gregory Helms

7. Better Than That

As Helms is leaving the ring, the titantron suddenly cuts backstage to show Bryan Danielson standing in front of a camera. Danielson says that if Helms wants his Cruiserweight title, he'll have to do much better than what he just did. Bryan says that he's smart enough to not lose to a cheater and that Helms better be ready for the fight of his life. Helms doesn't look happy as he heads to the back.

8. Another Victim...

Gregory Helms is shown walking backstage muttering about Danielson when he suddenly stops. The camera looks over his shoulder to show Rey Mysterio layed out just like Nitro and Eugene have been in the past week. Helms glances around before saying something about not wanting to get accused of something he didn't do. Helms then runs, leaving Mysterio knocked out on the floor.

9. Chris Benoit vs. Sabu

Two ECW wrestlers who know each other well, Sabu and Benoit have quite the history after the Wolverine snapped Sabu's neck. This match showed that Sabu can wrestle without having to be Hardcore but the extremist still fell to Benoit's vicious technical style. A Crippler Crossface was all it took for Benoit to make Sabu tap out.
Winner: Chris Benoit

10. D-X Filler Segment!!!

Shawn Michaels and Triple H are show walking towards the ring in wrestling gear. The RAW theme is playing but fans can just make out Triple H talking about Lita while Shawn just rolls his eyes.

11. Edge vs. Shawn Michaels

Edge and Shawn go at it with absolute ferocity during this match. Triple H, on the other hand, continues to torment Lita but he is enventually stopped by Randy Orton. The former Evolution stable mates begin having their own fight as their partners continue their battle. Michaels picks up D-X's first win in weeks after dodging a Spear and hitting a Sweet Chin Music while Triple H shoves his way out of an RKO and hits the Pedigree on Orton. Triple H then slides into the ring and D-X have their first victory celebration of the year.
Winner: Shawn Michaels

Quick Results
1. Paul Burchill dominates Johnny Nitro
2. Chris Hero defeats Kid Kash
3. Brian Kendrick beats Jamie Noble
4. Gregory Helms defeats Matt Hardy
5. Chris Benoit beats Sabu
6. Shawn Michaels defeats Edge

Sabu never ever ever taps out. Anyways, the show did a good job of progressing feuds and the length of the summaries was ideal.

2. WrestlingNews.com strives to give you the best wrestling news, rumors, and updates on the web.

As I have said before, I love the way you do your polls. The news is also fine the way it is.

3. Rumors are abounding among the internet fans that Vince will soon be naming a single general manager who will run both shows.

Who would you like to see become the new WWE GM?

Eric Bischoff or Paul Heyman, both are great.

Heating Up
January 19th, 2007

Undefeated
Umaga has been undefeated since he came to the WWE. Chris Benoit has been undefeated ever since he won the United States Championship. This Friday, these two will go one-on-one for the first time ever. Will the Samoan Bulldozer continue his streak or will the Rabid Wolverine make him tap out?

Hardened
Rey Mysterio was brutally assaulted last week, just like Johnny Nitro and Eugene before him. Now, the former World Heavyweight Champion must face the same man that the two before him faced, Paul Burchill. Can Rey Mysterio overcome his wounds or will the souless Paul Burchill make him just another victim?

A Regal Challenge
We have recieved word that Bryan Danielson recently challenged William Regal to a match for Smackdown this week. Regal and Danielson are both known for their mat wrestling and unique styles. Can Regal defeat Danielson or will the American Dragon make the British wrestler pick up the win?

Defense of the Kingdom
In Smackdown's main event, former tag team partners will go one-on-one. King Booker is currently gunning for the Undisputed Championship but first he must go against the high-flying Rob Van Dam. With John Cena almost certainly going to make his presence known tonight, will King Booker be able to pick up the win or will the former ECW extremist pull off an upset?

Smackdown (1/19/2007):

1. Overthrown?
King Booker is backstage with Todd Grisham. Todd asks Booker if he feels confident going into his match tonight with Van Dam. Booker replies by saying that he will defeat his former partner and then move onto the misfit who overthrew him. Booker then starts talking about how he will defeat John Cena at the Royal Rumble and then the true king will reign once again.

2. The Kings of Wrestling vs. Ken Doane and Mike Mondo
Ken Doane and Mike Mondo come out to the ring in entirely different ring attire and to rock music instead of the Spirit Squad theme, signifying the split up of the cheerleading team. Doane and Mondo put up a fight but it is only a matter of time before Hero and Castagnoli hit Mike with a Hero's Welcome Kings of Wrestling Edition for the pinfall victory.
Winners: The Kings of Wrestling

3. Just Another Victim?
Rey Mysterio is backstage in his locker room. He starts talking about how he was attacked last week from behind with a steel chair. He says that he now has ten stitches in the back of his skull and that he will do whatever it takes to find the person who did this to him, Eugene, and Nitro. Mysterio then says that while Burchill might have been able to defeat the other injured superstars, that he wouldn't be able to defeat him. Then, out of nowhere, a figure wearing all black and a hooded sweater covering his face attacks Mysterio and lays into him. The person is quickly run off by security before going to commercial break.

4. Rey Mysterio vs. Paul Burchill
Coming back from commercial, "Sincerely, Ichabod" plays and Paul Burchill makes his way down the ramp, dragging a beaten Rey Mysterio to the ring. Burchill throws Mysterio under the ropes before following him in as well. Burchill gives Mysterio a few suplexes, followed by a C-4 in order to get the pinfall victory in just a little more than a minute.
Winner: Paul Burchill

5. Lack of Honor
Bryan Danielson is backstage talking about how he has been dominant since he came to the WWE. He says that while he respects William Regal, the British wrestler has no honor and will be defeated by the American Dragon. Danielson is about to say something else when he is attacked by Gregory Helms. The two brawl a bit before Helms runs off.

6. William Regal vs. Bryan Danielson
Gregory Helms's music plays and he heads down to the announcer's table to call the Danielson's match. A highly technical match, Danielson showed off both his high-flying and his mat wrestling abilities. Regal wrestled well but, despite being attacked earlier by Gregory Helms, Danielson was able to lock in a Wakigatame for the submission win. As Danielson celebrated, Helms looked like he was going to attack the Cruiserweight champion from behind but Danielson turned around and scared Helms off.
Winner: Bryan Danielson

7. A Challenge Accepted
As we return from commercial, CM Punk is in the ring with a microphone in hand. The straight-edge wrestler starts talking about how he has been undefeated for his entire ECW and WWE career. Punk says that since he doesn't have a match for the Royal Rumble, he's going to put out an open challenge to anyone in the back who think they're good enough to take him on. Shelton Benjamin walks out from the back and says that he accepts Punk's challenge.

8. Umaga vs. Chris Benoit
Umaga and Armando have lost a lot of heat after not being on television but Armando is able to make it up by insulting the crowd. Benoit makes his way to the ring to confused cheers as the fans try to figure out what is up with the United States champion. Benoit and Umaga go at it in a stiff match but Benoit's superior wrestling ability quickly wears down the Samoan Bulldozer. Benoit picks up the win after grabbing Umaga's arm mid-Samoan Spike and transitioning into a Crippler Crossface for the submission victory.
Winner: Chris Benoit

9. This Public Service Announcement Was Brought To You By...
Degeneration-X is backstage and they talk about how they were able to turn things around on RAW last Monday when Shawn Michaels defeated Edge with a Sweet Chin Music. D-X starts shilling their merchandise when a hand taps Triple H on the shoulder. Hunter turns around and gets hit with an RKO. Michaels is to busy talking to notice but is quieted when Edge runs in out of nowhere to hit a Spear. Rated R-KO then says that next Monday, D-X will have to take on The Kings of Wrestling.

10. King Booker vs. Rob Van Dam
King Booker's entrance gets huge heat while Van Dam is cheered like there is no tomorrow. A great match with lots of ring psychology, these former tag team partners wrestled for a strong fifteen minutes before the end of the match came. Van Dam attempted a Rolling Thunder but Booker rolled out of the way, covered Van Dam, put his feet on the ropes, and got the pinfall by cheating. RVD looks upset while Booker celebrates. But wait...
Winner: King Booker

11. Old-School Stipulation
John Cena's music plays and Booker's face immediately changes from delight to anger. Cena talks about how Booker likes to cheat by putting his feet on the ropes or having Finlay do his dirty work. Cena then says that he just got done talking to Vince and that, at the Royal Rumble, Booker won't be able to cheat his way to victory because they're having an old-school cage match. The door will be locked and there will be no pinfalls or submissions. The only way to win will be to escape the cage. As Smackdown fades out, Booker looks angered at the thought of being stuck in a cage with Cena while the champion gloats at the top of the ramp.

Quick Results

1. The Kings of Wrestling defeat Doane and Mondo
2. Paul Burchill defeats Rey Mysterio
3. Bryan Danielson defeats William Regal
4. Chris Benoit defeats Umaga
5. King Booker defeats Rob Van Dam

1. With less wrestling and more attack angles than usual, this Smackdown had a much different tone than earlier shows. WrestlingNews.com wants to know your opinion.

How was Smackdown? Too few matches? Too many attacks?

2. Some of our editorial staff are saying that they feel that RAW and Smackdown are getting slightly repetitive, with lots of the same on each week.

What would you do to help freshen up the WWE product?

3. The Royal Rumble is fast approaching. With only a week left to go, the WWE is sure to try and put on a pair of great shows to increase buy rates. With three matches announced, and more to be announced at the end of the week, the WWE fans are most likely in for a treat.

Are you looking forward to the Royal Rumble? What matches (and matches that you believe will happen) are you looking forward to?

1. How was Smackdown? Too few matches? Too many attacks?

I liked the show as usual. There may have been too many attacks, but I guess once in a while is okay compared to having that amount every show. I think the match count was fine, as you used the rest of the segments to push angles/feuds.

2. What would you do to help freshen up the WWE product?

Perhaps more multi-man feuds (triple threat, fourway)? I don't think the shows are getting that repetitive, but EWR does limit what you can do.

3. Are you looking forward to the Royal Rumble? What matches (and matches that you believe will happen) are you looking forward to?

I'm sure a three-team match will be added for the tag team titles. Punk/Benjamin will be great despite the lackluster buildup, as will Helms/Danielson. A match I think would be unpredictable would be Benoit/Burchill for the US title.

This Week's Show Ratings

This week WWE picked up yet more points while TNA drops slightly.

RAW came out on top this week, scoring a strong 6.06 rating, up a full 0.18 from last week's show.

ROH Technicality continues to remain in the low 1.0+ range, scoring a 1.21, up a mere 0.01 from last week.

iMPACT scored a slightly lower rating this week, which is odd considering they're coming off of a Pay-Per-View. They score a 5.43, down 0.04 points from their last edition.

Smackdown's rating also faltered a bit. Scoring a 6.03, this is 0.05 points lower than last week and this is the first time this year that Smackdown was not the highest rated wrestling program for the week.

As always, the table below shows this week's ratings in order from highest to lowest:

RAW: 6.06
Smackdown: 6.03
iMPACT: 5.43
Technicality: 1.21

ROH Large Event Attendence In, Controversial Hiring!

The ROH Trios Tournament was held this past Sunday. ROH was able to get a total attendence of 3032 people, which is one of their highest entrances ever.

The show featured the debut of former WWE wrestler, Psicosis. Psicosis was fired from the WWE due to being arrested on charges of car theft. These allegations proved false and ROH hired the Mexican luchadore. It is unknown what position he will be taking in the company.

3 More Royal Rumble Matches Announced, Current Card Below

On last Monday's edition of RAW, Shelton Benjamin accepted an open challenge by CM Punk for a match at the Royal Rumble. The match will be a standard singles match up. However, there are rumbles inside the WWE saying that their is the possibility that Colt Cabana could be brought in, creating a feud between The World's Greatest Tag Team and The Second City Saints. We have no confirmation of these rumors.

Last Friday on Smackdown, it was announced that it will be King Booker against John Cena for the WWE Undisputed Championship in a steel cage match. However, the only way to win will be to escape the cage and the door will be locked. The reasoning for this change in the cage match rules is because the current head booker feels that allowing for pinfalls and submissions, as well as having the door simply opened for wrestlers to leave, defeats the purpose of a cage match.

Just announced this morning on WWE.com, there will be a triple threat tag team match at the Royal Rumble. It will be The Kings of Wrestling vs. Ken Doane and Mike Mondo vs. Paul London and Brian Kendrick for the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Titles. Our sources say that there is a strong possibility that The Kings of Wrestling could pick up the titles in order to continue their push.

Current Royal Rumble Card:

Singles Match

Shelton Benjamin vs. CM Punk

WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championship Match

London and Kendrick vs. Doane and Mondo vs. The Kings of Wrestling

WWE Cruiserweight Championship

Bryan Danielson vs. Gregory Helms

Tables Match

Rated R-KO vs. Degeneration-X

Steel Cage Match for the WWE Undisputed Championship

John Cena vs. King Booker

Royal Rumble

30 participants including Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Chris Benoit, Rey Mysterio, CM Punk, Kane, and many more

Slow Burn
January 22nd, 2007

619 Rematch
Rey Mysterio suffered a brutal beating by a mysterious attacker last week before being assaulted again, this time in the wrestling ring by Paul Burchill. After the match, Rey requested a rematch with Burchill and his challenge was accepted. Will Mysterio be able to defeat Paul Burchill now that he will be going into the match up at 100%?

Back in the Hunt
After the triple threat match was announced this past week, Ken Doane and Mike Mondo have been preparing for their chance to recapture the tag team gold. This week on RAW, they will be going up against the men who took their titles, Paul London and Brian Kendrick. With The Kings of Wrestling busy tonight, which of these two teams will pick up the momentum going into the Royal Rumble?

Regal Challenge
Backstage after Smackdown, John Cena challenged King Booker to a match up a this Monday's edition of RAW. However, the king told Cena that he will instead go one-on-one with his proxy, William Regal. Will the champ be able to defeat the king's knight?

Heroic Effort
The Kings of Wrestling will be getting a chance this week to prove that they truly are a dominant force in the WWE when they face off against Degeneration-X. The legendary team has been on the losing side of things as of late, having only picked up one win this year. The Kings of Wrestling, on the other hand, have yet to lose a match. Will D-X be able to turn things around or will the rookie team upset the degenerates?

RAW (1/22/07):

1. Not So Easy
RAW opens to Rey Mysterio standing in the ring. Mysterio says that while Burchill may have been able to defeat him last Friday, this week he is fresh and Paul will not be able to beat him so easily. Rey then says that he has been told by management that at the Royal Rumble, it will be him against Chris Benoit for the United States Championship. Mysterio then talks a bit about Benoit's recent actions before leaving the ring.

2. Shelton Benjamin vs. Kid Kash
A good match to kick off the show. Kash and Benjamin's high-flying styles mixed well and they were able to get the crowd going. Jamie Noble attempted to interfere but Benjamin gave him a baseball slide before hitting Kash with a T-Bone suplex for the pinfall victory.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin

3. Respect?
Claudio Castagnoli and Chris Hero are backstage with Todd Grisham. The interviewer asks how they're feeling about taking on a legendary team like D-X. The Kings of Wrestling say that they respect Degeneration-X... NOT! They launch into a tirade about how D-X is nothing but the same old act week after week and that they, The Kings of Wrestling, are the future of the tag team industry. Hero then says that after they take out Degeneration-X tonight, that they will then go on to the Royal Rumble and become the Undisputed Tag Team Champions. Castagnoli finishes off the interview with a "Yeah!"

4. Gregory Helms vs. Funaki
Funaki comes to the ring to a small pop but Gregory Helms is picking up heat quickly. Lots of great cruiserweight action, the match didn't fail to entertain. Helms picked up the win after hitting a low blow when the referee wasn't looking before giving Funaki a Shining Wizard.
Winner: Gregory Helms

5. Outside The Ring
CM Punk is sitting in his locker room and begins to talk about Shelton Benjamin. He says that while Benjamin may be a great athlete in the ring, that doesn't matter due to what he does outside of the ring. Punk talks about how he's seen Benjamin in bars, drinking with other wrestlers. Punk says that by allowing such disgusting liquid to pass his lips, Benjamin is only making it easier for Punk to win the match. Punk then says that he's straight-edge and that means he's better than Shelton Benjamin.

6. London and Kendrick vs. Doane and Mondo
Ken Doane and Mike Mondo are catching a bit of heat but not as much as when they were in the Spirit Squad but London and Kendrick's pops are still going strong. A good tag team match, Mondo was able to pick up the win by pulling London's tights up. The upset victory now gives Doane and Mondo that bit more credibility going into the Royal Rumble.
Winners: Doane and Mondo

7. Dishonor
Gregory Helms is walking backstage with a smirk on his face when he runs into Bryan Danielson. The Cruiserweight Champion asks Helms if he is proud of his win tonight. When Gregory responds with a yes, Danielson tells Helms that it is dishonorable to cheat inside the wrestling ring. Helms says that he doesn't care about honor and will do whatever it takes to get his title back at the Royal Rumble. Gregory then walks away, leaving Danielson standing there shaking his head.

8. Rey Mysterio vs. Paul Burchill
"Off with your head!" Paul Burchill is getting more and more heat with every appearence but this week he doesn't have the advantage of a weakened opponent. Mysterio gets the usual pop and the match begins. The match got a strong crowd reaction and Burchill showed more of his wrestling ability rather than just squashing his opponent. Mysterio looks like he is going to get the win after setting Burchill up for a 619. However, when Rey went to rebound off the ropes, a steel chair suddenly connects with his back. Burchill is up and hits Mysterio with a C-4 and gets the cover. The camera finally shows the attacker and it is none other than Chris Benoit! Benoit suddenly rolls into the ring with the chair, causing Burchill to exit the ring after a brief staredown. Benoit then proceeds to hit Mysterio a few more times with the chair before locking Mysterio into the crossface. Security eventually comes down and forces Benoit to release the hold.
Winner: Paul Burchill

9.A "Not So Royal" Rumble
We come back from commercial and John Cena makes his way to the ring with a microphone in hand. The Undisputed Champion talks about how, at the Royal Rumble, King Booker will be in a situation that won't be very royal, but will be quite a rumble. Cena says that Booker will be locked in a cage with the only way to escape is by getting out the top of the ring. There is no pinfalls, no submissions, and no interference, just a king and a punk ass kid looking for a fight. He then says that he'll defeat William Regal tonight and that he will retain his gold this Sunday night.

10. John Cena vs. William Regal
Regal was able to pull some mat wrestling out of Cena, which surprised some in attendence. With two brawlers going one-on-one, and one of them being a technical expert, the fans were treated to a very good match. Cena picked up the expected win after hitting an FU and then locking in the *bleep* for the tapout victory.
Winner: John Cena

11. Degeneration-X vs. The Kings of Wrestling
Kings of Wrestling are getting more and more heat while D-X is continuing to get their usual cheers. Hero and Castagnoli were able to put up a good fight but it was only a matter of time before Shawn Michaels was able to turn things around. D-X were in control for much of the match until Rated R-KO's music played and Edge, with Lita, appeared on the entrance way. Triple H starts looking around for Orton but he's no where to be seen. D-X continued their normal match but just after Triple H tagged in Michaels, Orton did make his appearence. Making his way through the crowd, he was able to distract the referee while Castagnoli slipped into the ring with a steel chair. Triple H tried to get in the ring to make the save but Edge pulled HHH off the apron and started to brawl with him. Claudio then hit HBK with the chair before rolling out of the ring. Orton stopped distracting the referee and Chris Hero was able to pick up the pinfall. Castagnoli then ran over and helped Edge beatdown Triple H while Orton and Hero took turns attacking Shawn Michaels. Suddenly, London and Kendrick's music hits and the Tag Team Champions run to the ring with steel chairs in hand. While Edge and Orton at first don't look scared, it only takes a few swings with the chairs to send Rated R-KO and The Kings of Wrestling running. London and Kendrick then help D-X up and the two teams stare down their opponents before RAW fades out.
Winners: The Kings of Wrestling
