ECW: Puttin The Extreme Back In ECW. Requesting Closure. |
![]() ECW: Extreme Championship Wrestling. Backstory. In June, 2007, ECW seemed dead.. Even the signings of Cristopher Daniels and Carlito weren't enough to keep the ratings afloat, with main events involving Bobby Lashley overcoming the odds week after week keeping any chance of survival to a minimum.. The network finally gave them an ultimatum.. At the ECW on Sci-fi show on the 26th of June, they had finally had enough.. They noticed the show badly damaged their ratings and demanded change. Fast.. They appointed an anonymous new head booker for the show and he slowly began to turn things around.. He promised to shake up the roster slowly, increasing ratings without any changes too radical to risk their precious few viewers.. He claimed his main obstacle was the troublesome time slot, with only one hour for ECW to get all they have onto the T.V. His first show changed that.. quote That episode of ECW changed everything.. The ratings came in.. The highest rating since ECW joined Sci-Fi.. The network were thrilled by the change of results, and when the new head booker requested a prime-time trial slot, they were only too happy to oblige.. They gave ECW a test.. One prime-time show, and their ratings have to increase from the ratings their late evening slot received.. The new head booker had done what he had said he would. That ECW did go down in history, as the last ECW show to be shown on late evening Sci-Fi.. Now, it's primetime! However, it became immediately obvious the roster needed a lot of work to get and keep this slot, with the current main eventers not being completely suitable for the title, with the only legitimate contender, Rob Van Dam's contract still in doubt, so giving him the title could open up a whole can of worms.. The Head Booker remained unphased and claims that ECW will keep this slot, and head onwards to greater things.. This message was edited by zhaoyun770 on Jun 12 2007. re: ECW: Puttin The Extreme Back In ECW. |
![]() Styles: Hello once again to our ECW fans.. Welcome to the debut of Prime-time ECW, here on Sci-Fi, and once again, we have a great show lined up for you, in our new two hour timeslot! Tazz: Damn right.. Two hours of nothing but Extreme wrestling.. This is gonna be great.. Styles: Yep, the excitement leading up to this has been massive backstage, with everyone thrilled to have two hours to do what they do best.. Tazz: And let's kick it off with the first scheduled match of the evening, Chuck Palumbo against Mike Knox... Match One: Chuck Palumbo vs Mike Knox. Chuck Palumbo enters first, walking slowly down to the ring, getting a small cheer from the crowd in attendance... He is shortly followed by Mike Knox, received by a far more hostile boo, before getting the match underway.. Palumbo and Knox match each other in strength when trying to gain an early advantage, and the match remains very tight, until Knox uses a rake to the eyes to get the upper hand.. He throws Palumbo onto his shoulder and powerslams him to the mat, getting a two count from the referee... Know gets frustrated and claims the referee was counting slowly, giving Palumbo time to recover. Knox gets irish whipped into the ropes, and given a hard clothesline by Palumbo. He then picks him up, only to get raked in the eyes once again.. Knox throws him into a powerbomb position, only for Palumbo to roll through.. 1.2.3!! It's over.. Palumbo wins on his debut! Winner: Chuck Palumbo By pinfall Match Two: Stevie Richards vs Balls Mahoney. Balls Mahoney enters first arousing a small cheer from the crowd, followed by Richards, getting a similar reaction.. Mahoney debuts a new mean streak, focusing on Richard's leg with various vicious assaults, including the ring post. The crowd then start to boo Mahoney as he continues working on the leg, distracting him from the match.. He taunts the crowd, only to be suplexed from behind by Richards.. Richards hits a couple of quick clotheslines followed by a small spear to gain momentum. Mahoney slowly gets up and Richards attempts for the Stevie Kick, but Mahoney blocks it by grabbing his leg..Richards smashes the side of Mahoney's head with an enziguiri before unleashing the devastating Stevie Kick.. 1..2..3.. All over.. Winner: Stevie Richards By pinfall Segment One Rebbecca De Pietro stands backstage, hosting an interview with ECW's newest superstar, The Fallen Angel, Cristopher Daniels, who last week, saved Rob Van Dam from an enraged Snitsky.. He explains he was merely in the area at the time, and that he meant for nothing to happen from it. He then goes on to say that he plans to teach Snitsky not to attack people from behind, and to fight like a man.. He then challenges Snitsky and a partner to fight him and RVD next week to prove that.. The cameras then pan off to the next segment. Segment Two The Camera is walking around backstage looking at various workers and backstage people.. The cameras then find fan favourite Bobby Lashley talking to some behind him, who the camera cannot recognise.. Lashley sees the camera and walks away, revealing the person he was talking to to be none other than Elijah Burke.. The camera then follows Lashley who claims his championship has been stolen and that the old Bobby Lashley is dead.. The cameras pan away leaving the fans to wonder what he means, and why he was talking to Burke.. Match Three: Carlito vs Hardcore Holly. Hardcore Holly's requested match was granted, and he enters first to a loud boo from the crowd.. Carlito then charges down to the ring to a loud cheer.. Carlito slides under the ropes, and Holly attempts to attack then but Carlito is too quick and gains an early offence with a series of punches.. He sends Holly into the ropes before arm dragging him over his shoulder.. He holds onto an armbar on Holly, and after holding for a while, lets go.. Holly gets up slowly to get dropkicked out of the ring.. Carlito landed awkwardly though, and reels around in pain in the ring.. Holly recovers outside the ring, and sees Carlito in pain.. He grabs a chair from ringside, and enters the ring.. He smashes it down onto Carlito resulting in a DQ.. This doesn't stop him from hitting Carlito twice more, before leaving for backstage, with Carlito motionless in the ring. Winner: Carlito By DQ Match Four: Cor Von/Striker vs Sandman/Dreamer. In another rematch from last week, the Originals hope for revenge over the new breed team of Cor Von and Striker.. Striker starts off with Sandman and gets completely dominated, and squashed into a corner of the ring, before Sandman attempts a clothesline, finding only turnbuckle.. Striker then hacks away at the leg of Sandman before he tags in Cor Von, who cleans house, much to the chagrin of the crowd before focusing on the Sandman.. Sandman gets a chance to tag in Dreamer but battles on despite his injuries.. He charges at Cor Von with rage, but Cor Von ducks under, runs at the ropes, and hits Sandman on the return with "The Pounce!!" 1.2.3. Done.. Dreamer enters the ring to check on Sandman and asks why he didn't tag him in.. They argue as the cameras pan to... Winners: Cor Von/Striker By pinfall. Segment Three Backstage CM Punk is walking backstage being followed by the camera.. All of a sudden Elijah Burke jumps him, ahead of their match next.. CM Punk notices however and dodges him.. They brawl fiercely until the backstage security break them up, with Burke and Punk still wanting a piece of each other, needing several guards and other superstars to hold them back.. Segment Four The Titantron shows a short video of the Burke-Punk feud, showing their arguments in the new breed, their later conflicts, and their recent skirmishes.. This video hypes the crowd in preparation for the next match between the two of them, which is up next.. Match Five: Elijah Burke vs CM Punk. Punk and Burke both enter quickly, clearly relishing the thought of defeating their long term rival.. Burke uses his traditional dirty tactics to gain an early advantage over the straight-edge superstar. He presses the advantage following a rake of the eyes, by utilising several moves focussing on Punk's back. He continually works on Punk's back, driving his knee into it, until he applies an abdominal stretch.. Punk fights out of it, lifting Burke and flipping him to the mat.. Burke gets up immediately and attempts to get back on the attack.. He picks Punk up and throws him against the ropes, before dropkicking him to the outside.. The referee begins his ten count as Burke follows Punk outside.. 1. He works on the back outside the ring with more knee thrusts.. 2... 3... 4. Burke then picks Punk up, and attempts to suplex Punk.. 5..6... Punk battles out and pushes Burke away, but Burke grabs Punk's hair and keeps on the attack.. 7..8.. Punk kicks Burke in the gut and desperately tries to re-enter the ring.. 9...10!!! Punk climbs into the ring just as the referee says ten.. After some discussion, The ringside announced announced the match a draw... Punk stormed backstage, with Burke laughing at salvaging a draw.. Winner: Draw Segment Five. A video is shown hyping the next match between two completely new superstars, making their ECW debut this week. Without revealing who they are the video shows various clips to do with the match's prize.. The ECW World Championship.. Match Six: ??? vs ??? for the ECW World Heavyweight championship. The hyped crowd eagerly await the two new arrivals to ECW.. They cheer deafeningly when none other than Chris Jericho's music hits, and the man himself appears on the ramp!! He walks slowly down the ramp, soaking up the appreciation from the fans.. He is followed by none other than Christian Cage!! They cheer lightly, not liking theu guy, but appreciating his ECW arrival... He walks into the ring and gets the match underway with a low kick to Jericho. He pushes him into the turnbuckle, and charges at him.. He misses with the shoulder tackle but finds the ring post.. He writhes in pain as Jericho recovers.. He tries to german suplex Cage, but he grabs onto the top rope, before low blowing Jericho, undetected by the referee.. Cage taunts the crowd before preparing for the unprettier.. He positions Jericho, but he powers out of it, forcing Cage to release.. He attempts another german and there's no rope to save Cage this time, as he goes flying into the air.. Jericho positions Cage in the center of the ring and attempts a moonsault from the second rope.. But Cage dodges sending Jericho into the canvas, hard.. Cage quickly climbs the turnbuckle and attempts a frog splash, but Jericho quickly gets up and catches him atop the turnbuckle.. Cage quickly rakes Jericho's eyes, before pushing him down, and hitting the frog splash!! 1.2.3! It's over, and Cage has stolen one! He celebrates in the ring as the cameras pan off... Winner, and New ECW World Heavyweight Champion: Christian Cage By Pinfall. Comments and feedback appreciated.. -------------------

Good show, I was pretty happy with all the outcomes, the last match especially. I would like to see a Cage v Jericho feud. Burke and Punk drawing was a good idea. Have Elijah win the next match though. Mahoney and Richards was an okay match, they are both mostly ECW's jobbers, so I would like to have seen someone interfere and just kick the crap out of both of them. Maybe someone your trying to build a monster gimmick for. Other than that, Im glad Richards won. Overall, good show. The segments were well written, and I will definitely be reading again. -------------------

Poll: 1. What was your favourite part of the show, and why? - Cage winning the ECW Championship. I want to see him have a good long feud with Jericho. 2. What was your least favourite part of the show, and what could be done to improve? - Probably the Richards/Mahoney match. Like I said earlier. Have them both lose somehow. Both get beat up, etc. 3. Good show overall?? - Yes. 4. Who would you most like to see pushed?? - Elijah Burke 5. What do you think of Lashley's actions?? What do you think/want to come from it? - Even though I liked it, Suspend Lashley. -------------------

Well, sorry to dissapoint certain people, but my file's data is majorly corrupted, and therefore, I can't continue with this.. I'll be making another diary at a later date but it may not be an ECW one.. For all of you who were interested, Lashley was going to turn heel and ally with Snitsky against RVD and Christopher Daniels, who would later on turn heel and feud with RVD.. CM Punk and Burke would feud for the newly made TV Title, with Punk ending up with it, only to be beaten down by Jushin Liger, who would then take the title, and feud with Punk.. At the PPV, Jericho would beat Cage in a Hell in a Cell (Got 99% overall rating) and Punk would win, along with Carlito beating Holly again, in their 10th match of the feud, all 10 won by Carlito, despite Holly desperately trying anything.. Finally, Balls Mahoney and Richards were going to feud, with their 3rd match signalling Lashley and Snitsky allying with Snitsky and Lashley beating them both down.. That's about the main stories to be honest.. PM Me if you wanna know anything else..

It is a shame this didn't take off, especially when it was due to data corruption. Hopefully you will be back with a new diary soon.
