re: Forum Feedback & Information

Yeah, I have a question.

Is there any way that I can change in the game date? I'm using the 98' year scenario, but it always has the actual, reality, date at the top of the in-game screen.

Is there anyway I can adjust this? It's really kinda bugging the hell out of men...

Set your computer clock to the month before you want the game time to begin.

re: Forum Feedback & Information

Minor Announcement: Just thought I'd leave a warning that I could potentially be cut off in the next day or so. There is heavy flooding in this part of the country, and if it gets into the local sub-station my power could be out for a few days. I fairly confident that won't happen, but figured I'd give people a heads up if I randomly disappear for several days.

With any luck, there will be no problem but it's better to be safe than sorry.

quote Me; Yesterday
Since becoming a moderator, I live in the special Neoseeker Compound in Vancouver, Canada. They cater for all our needs from food to sexual partners.

Anyway, I have made a start on the Active Diaries section of the thread index, and hope to have it done in the next few days. It's the Inactive section that is more daunting. To be consider an Active Diary, there must have been an update within the past month, so when I'm done with this first lot any diary with an UPDATE [not post] in July will be on the list.

Still undecided on the forum header, though I am swaying towards just keeping entries open permanently, and changing the header when a new one I like is submitted. Personally, I'm not a fan of the header changing whenever you refresh the page but maybe that's just me.

Announcement:
In future, can people please refrain from posting comments like "I'll be reading". It adds nothing to the thread, and doesn't help the writer. If you are reading, then read. If you are going to comment can people please try to be more constructive rather than posting meaningless comments that only serve to increase their post count, if that as some don't even reach the character limit.

Here is a perfect example of what I do not want to see in future.

It will benefit the forum a lot more if people could comment helpfully rather than completely pointlessly. I'm not going to set a hard and fast rule now, but that may have to be the case if this persists.

re: Forum Feedback & Information

When you downloaded EWR, it should have created an EWR folder in which the game was contained. Within that there is a Data folder. To install a scenario, download whichever one you have chosen to play with, unzip it and then copy all the files inside it into the EWR Data folder. Overwrite the old files, and then start up the game. It should have the new scenario up and running, but will not affect your old save games.

re: Forum Feedback & Information

Just want to throw a topic out for discussion, as a couple of people have passed comment on fantasy diaries recently.

What is the general consensus of the forum? Do you like/dislike fantasy diaries [that is to say, diaries that aren't created using EWR, TEW or WreSpi as a base] and why?

I know they were accepted by static_puzzle, and I think by Blue Streak but personally, I am not that keen on them. This after all the EWR forum and the unofficial TEW and WreSpi forum. I'm not sure where, if anywhere, fantasy diaries belong on Neoseeker.

Anyway, discuss!

Well I think your referring to the first person style diaries everyone seems to be putting out. I think people are more worried about quality of shows then anything.

re: Forum Feedback & Information

Well since I am one of those that is making his diaries without a program, I think it's fine. Some of the best diaries are ones without the EWR, TEW, etc. programs. I do agree that maybe it's the wrong place for them as it is the "EWR forum," but really, where else would you post them? Maybe a sub-forum for those kind of diaries off of this one should be made for them. Because honestly, it's just not fair to not allow them anymore after all the hard work they do.

re: Forum Feedback & Information

Fantasy Diaries are just pointless imo. It's like some people come to the forum, see people making some good diaries, then make ones without bothering with downloading EWR! You may aswell stick to roleplaying or some other alternative.

There are barely any alternatives tough, Guillotine. Wrestling fanfiction? No, people usually just expect some stupid 'Stephanie McMahon cheats on Hunter with Randy Orton' story. Roleplaying? No, because that takes other people to make it. I could go on... but I won't. This is really the only place that's similar to what people like me are doing. This is also the only place where their work will actually get read. It's kind of lame tbh if you don't read a diary just because they don't use EWR. The best diary I've ever seen was one by my friend who just used his mind and his Word Processor, not some confusing programs like EWR and TEW.

No offense to anyone who makes them with those programs, but from my experience, they're confusing as hell.

That isn't what I'm talking about AT ALL. Those, when based off shows booked and run in EWR, TEW or WreSpi have the potential to be the best on the forum.

I am talking about shows that are complete fiction, without the involvement of a simulation program. More often than not, they are written in the traditional diary style as the whole promotion.

Also, I'm not saying there shouldn't be a place for these fantasy diaries, I'm just not sure this forum is the right place as they don't relate to the series of games. They are more suited to the roleplaying forum in all honesty.

Finally, once you spend some time playing with the games they aren't confusing and booking the shows and navigating around the game becomes second nature.

re: Forum Feedback & Information

Yeah but it's completely unfair for someone like me who's doing an ROH diary. They only have scenarios from like 2004... you can't really create anyone to put on the roster, it's worse trying to figure out than Photoshop tbh, and just trying to find scenarios is hard enough.

I do agree that this place may not be the right place for them, but I don't think the roleplaying forum is the right place either. Doesn't that need cooperation from more than one user? I don't know, but if you're thinking of moving them or something, I think there should be a sub-forum for the diaries off of this one. Even with that I'm a bit disappointed because I know even less people will read my diary. Not only will people not read it because it's ROH and not used with EWR... but you'll have to click an extra link just to read it >_>. I say leave them, but I'm being biased because of my own diary.
