Your arch nemesis |
|
Do you have any player that is constantly a thorn in your side whenever you play against him? That one guy who wrecks your game plan and forces turnovers or huge plays to take games away from you?
I have two arch nemeses, Julius Peppers of the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints OLB Scott Shanle. Everyone knows about Peppers' skill as a pass rusher, but where he wrecks games for me is with his freakish coverage skills. In just about every game I've played against Carolina, Peppers has picked me off. I really struggle when I think someone is pass rushing but then they drop off, and I tend to have made my decision on who to throw to before I have time to read and react to Peppers dropping back in coverage. He's about 6'7 and he can jump like a Gazelle, plus he's a good catcher and can run with the ball as well. I hate Julius Peppers As for Scott Shanle, whenever I play the Saints, he seems to get picks, sacks, forced fumbles, recoveries... Despite having an overall of about 75 with the latest update, he always ruins drives for me. He'll be quiet for ages, and then he'll come in with a big sack on 3rd down or he'll make a ridiculous tackle to stop my back just short of the 1st down marker. He's so annoying that I traded for him in my Rams franchise this offseason to stop him wrecking my games.

I don't really have a single player that wrecks my games. It's more of a scheme.
The scheme that I have a hard time beating is the Tampa Cover 2. In earlier versions of Madden, when Tampa Bay had the players like Derrick Brooks, John Lynch, Warren Sapp, and Rhonde Barber, I just could not solve the Tampa Cover 2. Every time I think I find an opening to throw to my receiver, someone pops in from nowhere to pick it off. Head coach Lovie Smith has brought the Tampa Cover 2 with him to Chicago and I had the same issues in my first 3 seasons with my current franchise with the Packers, going 2-4 against the Bears. I finally had a season sweep of the Bears in Season 4, but only because they lost a lot of key defensive players. Urlacher retired, Briggs left via FA, and Tillman was injured among a few of the key Bears players on defense. Even then, playing the Cover 2 is one of my weaknesses in the game and something I have to work on. And I think the Bears reloaded for Season 5, so it should be interesting when I play them again. ------------------- ![]()

I personally can cope with any 4-3 schemes. Its when teams run 3-4s that I start getting confused because you never know who will be rushing and who will be covering. They're also harder to run against, I find.
