[RMT] Goku sucks :(

I figure I kinda want to be first, see what people think of this, and hopefully get this place off to a good start in this respect.

GINYU FORCE ASSEMBLE!

Captain Ginyu (Jirachi) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 80 HP/252 Atk/176 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Iron Head
- Trick
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
---

The lead of the team, and one of the last Pokemon I chose. I needed a few things: a lead and Stealth Rock. Leading Jirachi accomplishes both. Rocks can usually be gotten out on turn 1 or 2 (If Trick is involved). If Scarf remains on Jirachi, it can revenge kill in a pinch, and its scouting ability is excellent in tandem with Flygon's. Note that Iron Head has a 60% flinch rate with Serene Grace.

Burter (Snorlax) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 244 HP/28 Def/236 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Body Slam
- Whirlwind
---

Alright, standard Sleep Talk Snorlax with Whirlwind over its secondary move. I needed something to absorb status, take special hits, and help build up residual damage. Snorlax does that and apparently doesn't like to die. This would usually be my first course of action against most special attackers.

Zarbon (Skarmory) (F) @ Shed Shell
Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 252 HP/64 Atk/176 Def/16 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Spikes
- Whirlwind
---

Uhuh. Totally not a member of the Ginyu Force, but way cooler than Guldo. Anyway, gives me something to do against most physical attackers, sets up Spikes, Whirlwind for more phazing goodness, and that ground immunity is delicious. Fire weakness is bait for Heatran and Snorlax doesn't care about Fire either; Electric weakness gives Flygon an excuse to come in without a hitch.

Dodoria (Slowbro) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 212 HP/252 Atk/44 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Slack Off
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Yawn
---

I believe this was the 2nd to last Pokemon I chose for my team. Anyway, the dude meshes, type-wise, with the team. Yawn promotes switching with potential for sleep, Slack Off gives me health back, SurfBeam is weird but gives me something for Heatran and Dragons. Second guy who can take physical attackers, just not stuff like Scizor. Own Tempo helps against Machamp's Dynamicpunch.

Jeice (Heatran) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 88 HP/168 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Toxic
- Flamethrower
- Earth Power
---

Woosh. Substitute Heatran. Can outstall Blissey without Seismic Toss, gives out Toxic, and Fire-Ground is good coverage. I forgot what exactly the speed EVs are for, though. This fits in type-wise and gives me something to do against Scizor if I play right and don't switch in from Snorlax.

Frieza (Flygon) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Thunderpunch
- U-turn
---

Alright, final member and leader of the Ginyu Force. This would be my revenge killer who can switch in most any time when one of my other team members is in danger. Under normal circumstances, the only one he can't switch in from is Snorlax. Thunderpunch is over Fire Blast (and thus allows me the benefit of a Jolly nature instead of a defense-hindering nature). Thunderpunch gives me something more to do against Gyarados and Bulky Waters who want to rain on my parade. Barring Swampert, who I just now remembered, though shouldn't give me too much trouble with all of the residual damage and (IIRC) being 2HKOd by Outrage. U-Turn is for scouting and works great in tandem with Jirachi and my other members.

What I try to do is obviously get rocks out ASAP and send in Skarmory when an opportunity presents itself so Spikes can get out. Skarmory and Snorlax can phaze most things themselves to build up residual damage, and Slowbro can do this equally well [if not better] since Yawn can cause a Pokemon that just came in to go right back out, while I recover or switch myself. Jirachi and Flygon are reliable for KOs and scouting. Heatran absorbs fire and spreads toxic on the opponents, who is also my most reliable measure against Blissey.

So, in short: entry hazards + 2 scarfers.

Well, there it is. Heatran sometimes doesn't do too much, though at other times it works as intended. It's pretty much my most reliable to stop Bliss, though I dunno if I should be so concerned about her. :S It is also disappointing I don't have a a weather-starting Pokemon (and to a lesser extent) a spin-blocker.

Thoughts/suggestions/etc appreciated.

[RMT] Goku sucks :(

So, I've battled this team, and it works pretty well. A couple things to note though. It's extremely important for you to get Stealth Rock off, in our battle you didn't and I think it hurt you a little. I'm aware that when you saw Jirachi at the lead you probably didn't expect it to be scarfed and have a similar set to yours. And I imagine that as such, you were a bit scared that rocks while you have a scarf would let me set up, and if you tricked and I happened to be scarfed, you wasted a turn. So you played a bit defensively in order to find out more, however getting rocks up is the most important thing. Between Skarmory and Snorlax you don't need to be particularly afraid of getting set up on, and either way Flygon is a great backup considering you outspeed Mence barring 2 Dragon Dances.

Slowbro was actually very effective, and I'm surprised it isn't used more than it is, but with Tyranitar and Scizor being as common as they are I suppose it has a hard time walling most teams on the physical side. Not really too big of a problem for you though, between Heatran and Flygon you seem to be fairly well off.

Heatran didn't really do too much, and I think it's because you weren't aggressive enough with it. I'm aware that it's a defensive set, and the point of it is sub-toxic. But max special attack Heatran can do a lot of damage. This leads me to think that Heatran might not be the best fit for your team.

I'm basing most things off of how our battle played out, because I've never seen this team used in another context.

On paper it looks pretty good. However a spin blocker might be a good idea, simply because your team relies on forcing switches and damaging the opponent with entry hazards. Maybe something like Rotom over Heatran, provides bulky toxic subbing in the same fashion, but you lose offensive power in exchange for spin-blocking and an extra fighting immunity. Also, the Ghost weakness is already pretty well covered, the Dark weakness is a bit troublesome with the only other resist being skarm. Also, while you lose the ability to switch it in on Fire aimed at Jirachi, you don't become any more Fire weak with all the random resists you got.

Great team. Although it's probably a typo, I'd like to mention that there's 252 Atk EVs on Slowbro. =P

re: [RMT] Goku sucks :(

No denial that not getting rocks out then was one of the worst moves I made then. Otherwise Mence would've been in much more trouble. Hindsight is 20/20.

I'll try Rotom-H over Heatran for a while, because I honestly considered him and it should be a better Scizor check. I'll also go and try a more offensive Tran like you have. Toxic is cool for stalling stuff and whatnot, but Explosion is sorta some killpower I need. <_<

But yeah, Slowbro is very nice to have around (pretty good resists, honestly) and I've found many people don't use (or expect) Yawn at all. Personally, it's why I love Uxie so much (well that and huge defenses). But uh, Yawning when the Slowbro-killer comes is sorta cool. Either they sleep, switch, or they attempt to KO Slowbro. And IMO, one of the coolest things to do is Yawn then Yawn again as the opponent switches. Again.

And uh... that's not a typo. That's a horrible horrible mistake on my part. I uhm copy and pasted the team from Shoddy's export to text... so I've sorta been battling with a 252 Atk EV Slowbro for a while. And it worked. I know it's resisted, but taking 22% from Machamp's STAB Dynamic punch with no defense investment is impressive (Based on our battle). I will correct those EVs the next time I get on shoddy.

And thanks, both of you.

it's a great team, I see no improvement needed.
