According to Official Nintendo Magazine, Link be getting a new instrument among other things in Spirit Tracks.

The "Spirit Pipes", pan pipes which you can play to summon special powers. Exciting right? To play them you blow into the DS microphone while cycling through different colored pipes using the stylus.

Those of you who can't blow in rhythm, don't worry. The developers have included a built-in metronome to help you keep rhythm.

Sort of look like that, to play it you press and hold the pipe you want to play, then you blow in the mic.
