Downloadable Content

DLC?!

I was just browsing a couple screenshots from this site when I saw this image. What caught my attention was the 'DLCVersion' part. DLC is usually an acronym for Downloadable Content I'm sure so does this mean we're going to see some arrive for PES2010?

Even if it's not the case and it doesn't stand for what I hope it stands for, downloadable content in football games is, currently, an unknown quantity and, thinking about it, it's strange that that's the case. I would definitely have thought that EA (damn their 'soul') would have latched onto the DLC bug and have various gimmicks that players of their game can purchase for extortionate prices. Anyway, what Downloadable Content would you like to see for Pro Evo?

I'll add my opinions later as I really can't think of anything at the moment...

re: Downloadable Content

I'd hope to see more players added to the Other list, that we unlock for ML. However, fully licensed, not just fake names! Current and classic footballs would be nice too. All for free .

I would like to see an additional commentary team of Peter Drury and Jim Beglin. That would be unbelievable quality. Would even pay a couple of quid for it...

re: Downloadable Content

IIRC, I think Seabass said that he wanted to include a lot of downloadable content in PES 2010. I remember that the members from PESFan were talking about it, and whether we would have to pay for it. I doubt we'll get as much DLC as FIFA though.

re: Downloadable Content

Hopefully if there is downloadable content then the prices wont be too high. The video game industry rips us for every penny it can get at the moment and I'd like to see PES buck that trend. It would probably bring in more players if they introduced DLC that was free, which would bring them more money anyway (more people buying the game for the DLC). I'd like it if Konami brought in a 'Live Season' type thing, although obviously better than FIFA's which is packed with problems.

It would be pretty cool if there were LittleBigPlanet style DLC, where you can buy little things that maybe don't add much to the game but make it more fun. I'm talking PES Shop type stuff here (like the Ostrich suits etc.), but we can get it from the Playstation Store instead - again hopefully for free.

Stadiums! PES Shop was very poor, instead of getting more hairstyles, faces or celebrations, we had the silly suits/heads or the ball effects :\.

re: Downloadable Content

Quality find, that video answered loads of questions for various threads!

Boots and balls sounds intriguing, no doubt Nike, Adidas and co will use PES as a means of advertising the new range of boots that they bring out by putting them onto the game through DLC. I bet that we have a lot of World Cup specific DLC when it comes around next year.

That would be cool if we could download the World Cup ball and even have World Cup advertising in some of the stadiums when you play on the World Cup in-game. Unlikely at the moment to be honest but it would still be nice to see.

EDIT: I'd just like to note that I'm taking full credit for spotting the DLC stuff first

I doubt there will be world cup stuff tbh

EA are probably making a game for that and will have secured the license.

re: Downloadable Content

True, although they may not get full exclusivity and if Adidas provide the match balls, PES may still be able to get them. Still, the fact they're carrying on with DLC is a good thing and hopefully there is even greater commitment to it this year. It bloody well better be free as well...

re: Downloadable Content

If companies indeed proceed with that idea to use DLC as marketing, we should expect freebies. Companies will provide images/material for the boots and balls and pay Konami to insert it ingame. Unless Konami sees an opportunity to also charge on top of their extra income.
