Is anyone else having problems with heading. I just can't get the hang of it. It seems very hit and miss, sometimes i can manage but most of the time i can't win a header although i still press the buttons the same as when i do.
I dread giving away a corner because 95% of the time the opponents win the header.
Any tips. please.

SUCCESS, since my last post i have headed two goal bound efforts, but with the strength of a wet lettuce and i have headed a few more outfield as well.
Very difficult to master, spoils the game a little bit.

How on earth did you manage to score with you're head?! Closest i have been is in the bar! well done mate

the only time ive ever been able to head in a goal was unmarked right in front! it makes it hard in professional/world class mode to win because i cant get to the ball with my head most of the time and concede alot of goals (and dont score many). do you actually have to hold down the Y button or just press it to head? and when exactly? thanks.

What is working for me is two taps on the Y button while the ball is in the air, so if you miss time with the first one you can get it with the second.

Today i pressed the Y button and scored! (Not with the head tough..) I'm good It was a great goal too

Well i really went and done it today.
Gerrard broke from right of midfield as he did Murphy started a run down the right wing, Gerrard delivered the thru ball and Murphy crossed it first time. Diouf on the edge of the six yard box dived and HEADED it past the goalie.
I don't know how much it was down to me or pure luck but i don't care.

I find tht if I continually tap the "Y" button while the ball is in the air, I win about 50% of headers. But it seems to get more difficult closer to the goal. I scored once with a diving header, but I haven't been able to do it since.

I have tried to tap y constantly and I can win about half the air balls at midfield and on my defensive end but I cant get any around goal, I have still been able to head in a goal only once in all of the games I have played.

If You wanna get good headers it's about timing. if you keep getting pushed in the back your jumping too soon and if your shots are weak then your too late. aim to press y (or tap twice, both work for me). Also for bycies and scissors tap y twice as the ball is after dipping down and is close to you. when heading aim to jump abouy 2 thirds/ 3 quarter way through the cross, waiting more or less depending if it is a drilled shot or a high lob. this is wat works best for me hope it works.

HEY I SCORED A GOAL FROM ABOUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD IN THE CORNER IT WAS CRAZY DID ANYONE ELSE SCORE FROM THERE?

Have not scored one from that range but i haven't tried.
Scored a few 40rd free kicks though. The design and method of the freekicks is the best i have used.

Personally I don't mind that it's hard to score off headers. IMHO it's much more realistic that way, since headers are pretty much hit-and-miss in RL as well. If I could score half the time I headed the ball in FIFA 2003, I'd lose interest in the game rather quickly. This way, I just watch the replay a couple of times (it's almost like scoring 5 times in a row, LOL) Just like when I scored my first goal using a freestyle move to get around the last defender, it was just too sweet ... must've watched the replay 10 times, hehe.
