I was thinking about buying this game, loved X and generally like most square games. The problem is that I have heard bad things about this game.

So...is it worth it?

I havent played FF X so I cannot tell you whether you would get good value in X-2 but X-2 on its own is a great game. Currently its my favorite PS2 game. It's very playable and has a lot cool stuff too.

FFX-2 is a good game. But it's not a good Final Fantasy game, or a particularly outstanding RPG. You'll get enjoyment out of it, but don't expect a deep plot and deep characters/villains like FFX had. The battle system is pretty fun though.

it continues about a year after FFX and focuses on Yuna's story now so if you like girl power and the team rocket style of LeBlanc (absolute failure who likes to wear very little) and her minions (Laurel and Hardy lookalikes almost)
you might be onto a winner

Thanks, guys. I had already read the metacritic reviews, it got a good score there. The problem was that most of my friends who had played, and whose opinions I trusted, were far less than pleased.

Think I'll check it out, now.
