I'm unsatisfied. There i've said it, the game lacks modes! Gauntlet is a let down, although i find the "mini-story" of it funny, it's just a tutorial. They would've included that in the training mode.
I've picked this game due to the fact that i don't own a ps3 or 360 to play soul cal 4. And you have to use a 'character slot' if you want to change the weapon of your character plus there are no stats so getting their ultimate weapons is pretty much useless. I wish that they've included 1. a story mode (i honeslty still don't know why dampierre and kratos are doing in the soul calibur world) 2. Change freely the characters weapons + include weapon stats 3. Chronicle of the Swords. This is the main reason why I still cling to SC3 ------------------- ![]()

Amen to that! I took it and got store credit at gamestop for it (which i NEVER EVERRR Do!!) they gave me $17 store credit... so I got a copy of Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles (Excellent!) and threw in some more bucks and got a copy of SC3 for the PS2

Hahaha, kids these days. =P Disappointed because it doesn't stand up to its console counterparts? This game is aimed for new or amateur SC players, which explains the Gauntlet mode. =P
I'm not disappointed in it at all. It satisfies what I wanted: SoulCalibur, even when I'm away from home. <3 Plus Dampierre and Kratos have really fun and interesting styles to learn. I didn't expect it to be a masterpiece or comparable to its console counterparts. =P I expected the gameplay I've adored since day 1 though, and I got it in a graphically fantastic portable package. My only complaint is that they didn't take advantage of online in this one. If they did, man. I'd be playing against someone right now. XD But it's also provided some comical entertainment. It seems so lighthearted compared to the canon games. Especially with Dampierre the moonwalker.

quote Knightmare ChaotixI guess that's it... i'd consider myself a veteran with soul calibur games... been playing them since soul calibur 1 on my dreamcast.... gauntlet really wasn't my thing... I guess I expected there to at least be an arcade mode... -------------------

I'm not really sure if the developers intended this game for the newbies in SC. Yeah the Gauntlet's purpose to introduce the mechanics of the game and what not, but several AIs are really... really good. I took me countless times just to get Siegfried's Soul Calibur in Trial of Attack mode...
Not to mention a couple of AIs in Quick Match I often got whooped... by the computer. ------------------- ![]()

I'll be honest with everyone, Ive only played Soul Calibur in arcades. Saying that, I can't say that I feel disappointed. I enjoy versus/fighting games like this one. I don't play story modes in games such as Tekken, Judgment, or this--I go directly into the fighting stages.
I enjoy this game. For story modes, maybe Final Fantasy. -------------------

The game is enjoyable atleast, there are alots of hints and tips in the main menu but something tells me the game lacks something. Some parts in Create-A-Soul perhaps? ------------------- ![]()
