re: Requests, Feedback, and Suggestions |

It's not going to be a social game like in Loungin'. It's just going to be a Trivia game with a prize at the end. I don't really see how it could be a social game in a Pokemon forum. So it's just a Trivia game with special rules. ^^;
If you or anyone else, wants to give me a specific suggestion (meaning the full code), on what to do for the full layout on the forum, I'm willing to test it out. Whatever you guys want.

The whole voting/eviction thing is a social concept. Even if you stuffed some trivia in there to make it Pokemon applicable, on a personal level I still don't agree. I'm not complaining for it to be closed or anything, just giving feedback. By not participating I don't mind either way.
Sadly I have no means to use to play around with coding but what I had in mind was something like this. Furthermore, I think it'd be great if this forum could follow what I started in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness where there was themes for times of the year. I loved the Christmas one a lot, I had others in mind but never got to use them. I think I still have the Christmas code saved somewhere, if you'd like it in a PM some time for sampling. DA Edit: Much better Lindsey. Not quite the scheme I imagined but it's okay. The theme looks neat!!!'
But I was thinking, Lindsey, you think you can do one of them color faders for the links? Like when you hover over it it changes from the blue and then so some other color and then fades back? I think it'll look awesome in this forum. Never know. =o -------------------

If I remember right, examples of that can be found in the forums of Star Wars: Battlefront II and Runescape. I like it too, it's fun to play around with.

I'm glad you guys like it! I've never done a full color scheme like that before: just links and headers and stuffs. Yay! <3
I am going to try to get the code for the fadey links; I should have it by today or tomorrow. So we can test that out and see how it looks.

It looks great! :D It matches the forum header and everything. I keep thinking the dark blue links are the visited ones, though, haha.
I don't know if you got it already or if this helps at all, but I was looking at the source code for the Runescape forum and found this and underneath that some code that apparently makes it work with non-IE browsers.... I don't know if you need this or not, but maybe they'd let you modify their source code a little so you wouldn't have to do it from scratch? -------------------

I'm sure everyone's noticed the consistent flow of threads asking about the release date and it's both annoying and a waste of time for everyone involved. Therefore I shall reiterate my point:
quoteI understand your last point, Sakura, that it was done in Diamond. I do however stress the point that a person can't keep relying on things which happened well over a year ago now. Can't treat two forums as the same, two different communities of people as the same etc. If it was put into the header in bold, just underneath the header in a nice stand out way, I highly doubt most members will miss it. If it even stops one thread being created it'd be worth it, especially since nothing else is happening with the header at the moment anyway. ------------------- Gone Fission: Blog Centaurus-A | Decrepit Birth | Gorod | Necrophagist | Nile | Psycroptic | Revocation

Dark Arcanine, I hate to break it to you, but that won't stop people from making release date threads. I don't know if you were here, but back when the Complains and Reports forum was public and you could technically report just about anyone, there was one MAJOR rule. If you weren't involved, you shouldn't post. Unfortunately, no one followed that rule. So instead, they did what they thought was best, to put the rule in some BIG HUGE RED font on top of the forum as the header. And still, people, some how missed that rule. Though it caused some serious raging to some of our Supermods at the time and led to the privacy of the forum, it was quite fun to watch and read.
Now, if we go to the Moderator Requests era, which I think you may have been there at the time, same concept. People were supposed to read the FAQ in the thread so they'd know what to do, and it had EVERYTHING on there. I mean everything, and people still managed to ask the most basic questions, and they were answered there, they continued to ask if they got the spot (when it said not to), and they also asked when the applications would be open (when the faq clearly answered that). So, they did the same thing as I mentioned earlier, and people STILL managed to ask the same stupid questions and PM the Supers and everything. The whole process was then dropped for what we have today, where the Supers only select a Moderator if a forum needs one. It's an option, but it's not going to stop the dumb threads asking when the game will be out, it's just something that people will end up asking even if we put the information on top of the forum. Hell, I bet that even if we put Spring 2010 there, we'd get threads like "What month of Spring?" or "Are you guys sure?". -------------------

I agree with what ZL said, and that's the main reason why I am not going to do it. However, I am going to say that I don't see what's so wrong with people asking the same question over and over again. I mean, when people make the same Help thread over and over again, you help them individually. What's so different about a question about the release date? Maybe that's the first thread they'll ever post here, and that's what makes them join the community. There's no reason really to forbid or close the threads unless they are completely clogging up the forum. People are going to make these threads, like ZL said, even if there is a big, bold, red statement telling them not to along with all the information we have. ^__^

I think he means it's annoying for the people who have to say the same thing 3-4 times a week. And tbh, it is getting boring.

Then that's really your own personal problem and there's an easy solution, just don't reply and let someone else do it.
