Boston Bruins Gagne - Getzlaf 'C' - Okposo Burrows - Bouchard - Knuble Moreau - Brind Amour 'A' - Zubrus C. Bourque - Rupp - Modin Bieska - Streit Grebeshkov - Corvo Ward 'A' - Oystrick Lehtonen Darling My team started out completely dominant and I was first in the conference by a huge margin. As the season went on the team's play dropped a bit but I still remained a top the league. At the deadline I dealt Burrows, some prospect on my AHL team who had like 1.5 Points/Game and my 1st Rounder for Zach Parise who had been on a the Stars who were in last place in the league. At the deadline I also claimed Chris Osgood off of waivers. My team was a lot better than than the day before and the season carried on. However, my team entered a huge slump. Began to lose games left and right. Osgood played atrocious and had a GAA above 4 for me. Lehtonen soon got every single start. I finished the season with 49 wins and in first place by just one point. Towards the end of the year I had been winning more but wasn't playing spectacular hockey. To start the playoffs, I faced the 8th seeded Atlanta Thrashers who were led by Alex Ovechkin in the first round. I fell into a 3-1 hole but was able to climb back out and win in seven games. I moved onto the next round where I was up against Philly. I again fell down 3-1 and again climbed back out. I made it the the Eastern Conference Finals and was ready to square off the the defending champs, the Pittsburgh Penguins. I won this matchup in six games led by Zach Parise who had 11 points in those six games. I was moving on to the finals. The Stanley Cup Finals was Boston vs. Vancouver. The 'Nucks were riding along on the stellar play of their netminder, Luongo. My team came out flying and won the first two games. Vancouver was able to bounce back and take the next three games. In those three games they outscored me 12-2. Game 6 was back in Vancouver. It was a chippy game and there was five fights It was 2-2 going into the third. With about three minutes left the Vancouver defensemen, Regehr, two handed Okposo in the face, fracturing his jaw. He was given a game misconduct and a major penalty; on the ensuing powerplay, Getzlaf fed Gagne in the slot and he buried it top shelf to force a game seven. Game Seven was back in Boston. Both teams played cautious and the first period was scoreless. About halfway through the second, I got a 2 on 1; Okposo, who was playing with a jaw protector, slid the puck over the Gagne to make it 1-0! The goal held up for the rest of the period. About halfway through the third Okposo tried to clear the puck from the defensive zone but took a delay of game penalty. Vancouver capitalized on their chance when Daniel Sedin buried a rebound. 1-1. The game continued and chances became more abundant. With six minutes left in the game, Mark Streit gave Simon Gagne a beautiful pass that put him on a breakaway. Gagne got tripped up though and was unable to score, despite attempting to shoot the puck from his knees. As Bruins Fans let out gasps, good old' Gary Thorne screamed, "It is going to be a penalty shot!" Gagne went to center ice for the biggest moment of his career. He picked the puck up and headed towards Luongo. He planned to do the triple deke: backhand, forehand, backhand. Luongo went for the pokecheck. but missed! Gagne slid the puck into the empty net. The score was 2-1! Vancouver put on relentless pressure but was unable to get a tying goal. The Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup! Getzlaf won the Conn Smythe; he amassed 31 points during the playoffs. What a fun first season. ------------------- ![]()

Sexy write up Kevin.
Even though I don't have NHL 10, I'll post my NHL 09 fantasy team: San Jose Sharks Phil Kessel - Eric Staal - Rick Nash Steve Bernier - Mike Fisher - Milan Michalek Nicklas Bergfors - John Tavares - Ryan Clowe Bobby Ryan - Ilya Zubov - Chris Kunitz Shea Weber - Luke Schenn Duncan Keith - Ryan Whitney Brent Seabrook - Victor Hedman Jonathan Quick Rick DiPietro I'm still in the middle of October but I've got high hopes for this team. While drafting, I was defensively minded (y'know, after drafting my three core players: Kessel, Nash and Staal). My second line has proven to be extremely explosive; it's my perfect grit line. Then from there, you can see I aimed my focus on the future, drafting Schenn, Tavares, Hedman, Zubov, Ryan, and Bergfors. I've started Quick ahead of DiPietro because, frankly DiPietro is shit and in the games he's played, he's let in some weak goals due to poor positioning. After trading Varlamov (my original number two goalie) for Quick for the same flaws DiPietro has, Quick has put up some impressive numbers, despite his lack of experience. I've put DiPietro on the trading block but it seems no one wants a goalie made out of glass, with 7 years still on his contract. My penalty kill units are what define my team. With the first united headed by Fisher and Bernier, and Staal and Clowe leading the second unit, the team has combined for 7 shorthanded goals in 6 games. However, there is a consequence with such a defensively minded team. It seems breakout artists such as Kessel, Nash and Tavares have yet to adapt to coach McLellan's playing style. It's only the beginning of the season, so things could turn around. DiPietro has overstayed his welcome (yes, 6 games into the season = too long) as I hate to have a goalie rated 90 overall be a backup to Quick, who has an overall of 87 but plays much better than DiPietro. I can guarantee that Rick will not play out his entire contract in San Jose. In the upcoming months, players will move around the roster to pick up for the lack of scoring I expected from Kessel and Nash, while still trying to maintain our defensive perfection. ------------------- ![]()
