I was thinking about this when I was reading articles for both New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Mario Galaxy 2 and was wondering what your thoughts are.
Does anyone else find it odd that Nintendo is releasing these two titles out around the same time as each other?
Could they be connected in some way?

Think about it, they both will have Yoshi and he will play a more major role ,like in Super Mario World, in both as well.

One of the new items in New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a Peguin Suit that freezes eniemies which sounds a little like the Ice Flower from Mario Galaxy.
There will also be a few newer Ice levels in Mario Galaxy 2 so that could be a hint that the Penguin Suit may appear along with Ice Flower in Galaxy 2.

The Koopalings are confirmed to be in the New Super Mario Bros. Wii for the first time in 3D. Since the Airships have been confirmed in Galaxy 2, is that a hint that they may appear, more well-polished, in Galaxy 2 alongside their brother Junior and Bowser?
New Super Mario Bros. Wii will be out before Galaxy 2 so it could be Nintendo's way of re-introducing them for their appearance in Galaxy. That could be why they don't want as much story in Galaxy 2 so they don;t have to explain where they've been or anything.

I also read somewhere that either the President of Nintendo or the Director incharge of Galaxy, I can't remember which, stated that alot of the Power Suits that were planned for Mario Galaxy but were taken out will appear in Galaxy 2.
He also said that the ideas that they had for Galaxy 1 but didn't use will also be in Galaxy 2.

Does anyone else think these two may be connected in some way? I just had to ask about this.

theyre not connected bros. wii is probably about repetive rescuing. galaxy doesn't focus on story much and there cant be a connection wih the 2

well there both like the 2 game in the series and well they are not connected but do have some of the same things.

They both have new stuff. I don't think they are connected though.

I was thinking about this earlier, how that now they have reintroduced the koopalings to modern audiences they may use them again. Galaxy 2, probably not. But it could mean us seeing more from our(my) favourite sibling group of evil.
