So far as for races, I discovered just in the trailer alone were shown 4 races, hunam(lol there all over the place), mithra(shes on the boat holding up that force feild), galka(if u noticed there proportion is alot better, and they have no tail), elvaan(at the end of the trailer shes the female on the left).

also on the offical site in the portait, if u look theres a tarutaru(they look more like childern, and not like big headed midgets), so all the races from ffxi are ported to ffxiv but with appealing alterations.

Now the question is will there be other races?(like a horned tarutaru looking speices on the farest left in the ffxiv portait on the offical site?!?! will the male mithra aka manthra be playable, only time will tell...

The only thing I hope for on the subject of races, is for them to not dictate the effectiveness of jobs nearly as much as they did. You had already seen weird stuff like Taru Taru Warriors and the like, so it really didn't prevent lore bends (if that was what it was for), so it'd be best to do away with that concept and let anyone be anything without penalty.

Just like in WoW. Except, WoW limited which classes you could be. Still, I'd prefer that.

I thought this would keep to the old races like moogles and stuff.

IMO, stick to the FF XII races, though that's obviously not how it's gonna go.

Outside of Male Mithra's I see no room for possible changes to races that could be implemented.

The addition of Viera, Seeq, Bangaa or Nu Mou could be a high possibility, though I'm really not personally interested in new races except maybe Viera and Bangaa.
