Will Halo Reach be based on a new engine?

There are a lot of pros and cons for having a new engine but what do you think?

You should be able to take cover, but more like you can in Rainbow 6 vegas. Also, something like the VISR in ODST where you can see the outline of the enemies/allies.
And the Armor should also have more of an effect on the game, like the scout can zoom in more and EVA has more peripheral vision.

i like what your thinking. like hayabusa can see through walls if u press LB but only for a few secs

It'll probably be time for a graphics update by the time this comes out, so yes, I think they'll use a new engine. That'll probably be the only improvement. The current physics and everything are about as advanced as you need for a Halo game.

Ha! If its not being built on a new engine then it better have actual animated cutscenes. The ODST scenes looked like shit.

But yes, Halo Reach is going to be running on a new engine from what I've learned.

Pretty much, yeah. The physics system Bungie has is one of the better in the gaming industry, that and the Source engine.
Even though the graphics are pretty sleek, they are creating a new engine, probably to be used in future projects once they are finished with Reach.

Well, I don't even believe that some of the helmets had been fully developed by Reach, but I'm not positive about that.
And having different advantages with a helmets is a cool idea, but it seems like extra work and would also set up an unfair advatage and favoritism for the helmet with the best ability. I think helmet and armour customization should be strictly asthetic as they are in Halo 3.
