FM2009 Experiments, Challenges & Competitions Rules

Football Manager 2009 Experiments, Challenges and Competitions. » Forum Rules

It's getting to that point of the year when the trophies are rolling in. Trophy cabinets are bursting with shiney gold and silver pots as Neo managers lead the likes of AFC Wimbledon to Champions League glory. So you've won every trophy there is to win in England, strolled through the season in Spain and powered to the title in Portugal? Need a new challenge? Well, you've come to the right place.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give great pleasure in welcoming you to the Neoseeker Football Manager 2009 Experiments, Challenges and Competitions Forum! Of course, if you're only dropping by to have a read through the ongoing challenges and experiments, you're as welcome as the creators. Be sure to leave a gentle comment or a good tip. People might just be looking for the tiny flaw they couldn't spot but you could! Overall, this is meant to be a nice place, where member involvement and light hearted competition is rife, and where potential competition and challenge creators feel fine and safe enough to use their creativity at will. What we cannot do without on a forum as busy as this and with such specific purpose, is a set of rules. Along with the Football Manager 2009 Forum Rules, we've set up a few rules that specifically count for the competition forum. Please have a read through them before you start a competition or challenge.

With that, these words of welcome have come to an end and I just wish you a lovely time on the Experiments, Challenges and Competitions!

One competition at a time
quote
You are only allowed to have competition running at a time.
No more waiting list!
quote
Anybody is encouraged to start a competition or challenge. We hope by getting rid of the waiting list, we will get plenty of new, creative ideas to get this forum going.

Thread captions & headers
quote
If you would like have a caption or header added to your thread, simple pm a moderator, and we'll gladly add the header or caption to your piece of work.

Constructive Criticism
quote
Being constructive is hard, we all know that. However when commenting, try to be specific in what you think needs improvement. The creator gains more from "I noticed you are using this or that color for your match updates, my idea is that those colors don't fit into this story because they are the colors of your teams rivals!" than a simple "class presentation, kiu". Also if you like a competition, please tell what you like about it.

Sign up threads
quote
Obviously for certain competitions you will need a sign up thread. To keep the forum nice and tidy, please either do all sign ups in the same thread as the competition, or encourage people to pm their applications.
Finally, here is a small guide about what actually consistutes an experiement, competition or challenge.

Experiment: Football Manager 2009 offers an impressive database, and an even greater modifying tool coming with it: the editor. There are endless possibilities with it and a lot of them are fun to edit, start a new game, and watch the outcome. I remember on FM08 that someone made a world league of leagues, making teams of every team in Europe, choosing their best players, having them play against each other and seeing which league would ultimately be the best. AndyD_U's Eurovision Striking Contest is a great example of an AI/DB experiment as well.

Competition: We've all seen competitions around the forum. Usually involving a sign up, the most common is an offline league whereby the creator asks for people to pick players, tactics and sometimes even a manager before playing the league and reporting back the results. sexondabeach's International League is a perfect example of a well executed competition.

Challenge: This is a thread where the creator challenges you to achieve something in your game. This may be to lead a team to a specific trophy, or a more vague challenge, such as the excellent unemployment challenge.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns PM a moderator.
