re: Unemployment Challenge [V]

Had a very good run in the last few games. I'm 3rd now. Watford are dominating and got a big lead already, me and Newcastle keep switchin places in 2nd/3rd.

I'm not sure I can keep it up though. I'm trying to stay up here til Jan then try to bring in reinforcements with my terrible finances!

re: Unemployment Challenge [V]

Season Overview
After my first season as Farsley Celtic manager I have left with the big trophy, the Blue Square North. I was knocked out of the Conference League Cup in the first round by Droylsden, drawing 1-1 but losing 6-5 on penalties. I made it to the FA Cup 1st round, knocking out Ossett Town, North Ferriby and Guiseley in the qualifying rounds but losing 3-1 to Accrington Stanley. I was also knocked out of the FA Trophy in the 1st round, losing 1-0 to Woking. However, I was unbeaten until late February, where I lost 2-1 to Stalybridge. From there I lost another 3 times. I won the league by 3 points, finishing on 94 points.

This is my squad

and my top goalscorer

re: Unemployment Challenge [V]

Got bored with my other games and fancied a challenge so I started this and got offered the job at Alfreton Town in October.

Currently 18th in BSN, so this should be a challenge.

re: Unemployment Challenge [V]

Right, I'm 10 matches through my second season, my first in the Blue Square Premier, and I can't seem to get a good run going! I'm now 7th in the league and 7 points off top, and my form is W5 D2 L3. I won my opening 3 but then I've lost, won, lost, drawn, drawn, won, lost. My team is by far the best, with League 1 players littering the field. I've bought 5 new first team players and have stuck with my 4-1-3-1-1 tactic which served me well through BSN. could anyone help, I'll post a screenie of my team.

EDIT:

re: Unemployment Challenge [V]

Hey seanb2k6,

I'm in the BSQ Prem as well with Macclesfield at the moment, I started off like you, win lose win lose. So I changed to 4-4-1-1 and I've done a lot better and jumped right up the league.
Try and get a good target man, I got Zavon Hines and he is banging them in.

re: Unemployment Challenge [V]

Thanks The Hudd, I've already got a good target man so I'll try that now I've got Oxford at home now which is where I've been quite good at, so hopefully a good win here, and maybe Thomas will find his feet again being a target man.

EDIT: Beat them 2-0 and Joel Thomas managed to score his first in 5, so I'll keep going with this

re: Unemployment Challenge [V]

Won 1, Drawn 1, Lost 3.

Not very good, but I'm enjoying this game.

Is it me or are more controversial offside goals given in the lower leagues?

re: Unemployment Challenge [V]

Half-way through the season now and the 4-4-1-1 hasn't quite worked so I've gone back to my old tactic. I'm 10th in the league and 6 points off the playoffs, my new season aim. I lost again in the FA Cup 1st round, this time 2-1 to Bury and lost to Wrexham on penalties in the Conference League Cup last 16, 5-3 on penalties after drawing 2-2 in normal time. I'm still in the FA Trophy though, after recently beating Salisbury in the 1st round, drawing 0-0 then winning 3-2 in the replay. I have Hinckley in the 2nd round, so expecting victory there.

EDIT: Do other clubs offer you the job while your at another club or do you have to apply for them?

re: Unemployment Challenge [V]

Just got the Farsley Celtic job. Any tips on signings? I loaded Ukraine, Poland, Reunion, and France.

Edit: Thought I'd got it but didn't. Thanks for the recommendations though.

re: Unemployment Challenge [V]

sign Miroslaw Wania for 2k, amazing for BSN, and Julien Harrouard for RM. also, Jim Ablancourt is a quality defender for that league and Nicolas Vallar and Baptiste Llop are great CM's. Pascal Bedrossian is also a quality player and Pierre Galuppo if you can afford him. Karnas and Kardas are very good too. Also if their on it, Didier Caro, Ludwig Norbert and someone called Cabarin and Piesio.

re: Unemployment Challenge [V]

Yeah sean they will approach you while your in charge of your current club.
You can also apply for jobs but be aware that it may result in the board asking you to resign so only apply if your a dead cert.

I'm just coming upto xmas, im around mid-table with Macc still. I'm very on and off it is frustrating me, but then I have changed the team, so maybe it'll take some time.
