Storyline |

Do you think this game will be a direct sequel to Twilight Princess or will it be set in a completely different time period, featuring a different Link?
I'd prefer if it was a stand-alone game, with a much deeper storyline that actually makes us care for the characters involved in the plot. I want alot of background info on each character, etc. -------------------

I seem to recall Miyamoto saying it was a completely new era, but I could be wrong.
I would be most happy if Ganon, Hyrule, and the Triforce were no where to be seen in this game, or if present significantly different than they have been since OoT. -------------------

Here's a fun fact. Did you know the word "triforce" was not mentioned once in the entire game of Twilight Princess? I didn't realize it until I read about it.
I wouldn't mind if the triforce made a return, since it was pretty much ignored in TP. But if the Triforce returns, that means Ganon must return, which I wouldn't want. Actually, I wouldn't mind Ganon returning, but not as the main protagonist of the game. How shocking would it be to see Link and Ganondorf working together to defeat a greater evil? -------------------

It would be more cliché than shocking, tbh.
The storyline needs to depart from the predictable, paint-by-numbers patterns it has fallen into and give us something different. Even if Ganon is the main bad guy, present the story in a fresh way and suddenly the conflict won't seem so tired. ------------------- Barmy's Blog: A+B+Start.

Lemme explain this; No Triforce = no Ganon, no Ganon = no Zelda, no Zelda = no Legend of Zelda, no Legend of Zelda = not me looking here; So, they're all in the game again. Although in Twilight Princess the Triforce wasn't named, it was all about the Triforce again. So I'd figure all Legend of Zelda are about the Triforce. Lemme explain this too in wich if the Triforce does exist in this game: So, wich figures that when the Triforce exists, all the three holders must exist too. quote LegendgreatFive of the 13 Zelda games currently available do not reference the Triforce or Ganon. Two more games do not feature Ganon in regular gameplay. Three do not mention Zelda, and one briefly mentions her once. All up, more than half of the games in the franchise disagree with your logic. ------------------- Barmy's Blog: A+B+Start.

Does anyone else think this might stem off of the timeline where Link returned the Master Sword into the pedastal? Seeing as how he only has a shield in the picture, it might be some sequel to Majora's Mask.

Yet another game dabbling in the Ocarina era is exactly what we don't need. Every console Zelda game since Ocarina has been related to it somehow through the storyline, and that whole chapter has become rather stale.

quote Barmy BratWhy wouldn't they be related to it? It's chronologically the first in the Zelda timeline. You have to admit it makes sense though, seeing as how Link has blonde hair like he did in OoT, and he doesn't have a sword equipped. ------------------- ![]() ![]() Dance away, Salsa...

I honestly couldn't care less about the timeline, I just want an interesting story that isn't about OoT again.

Nintendo *bleep*ed up the timeline with Twilight Princess in a desperate attempt to make OoT 2 anyway. So to hell with it.
I'm with bbb here. I don't want Ganon or Hyrule anywhere near this game. The storyline has gotten tired. ------------------- "A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted. re: Storyline |
quote TwilightPrince darn TwilightPrince, I had this idea in the General zelda forum under my new zelda plot idea. I think this would be a great plot for Zelda. A new foe arising more that Link or Ganon can take on single handidly. Ganon could assume the role as the anti hero. I think it would be a great twist on the series and make it very interesting. Not the same "learn destiny, grab sword, slay Ganon" plot we are accustomed to. I would love to see an attack where Ganon powers the Link's Master Sword with his dark energy to see what kind of attack that would make. Just one of the cool ideas that can come of the link and ganon combo. The possibilities are endless.

Yeah, I'd really enjoy seeing that. How about being able to play as Ganondorf for a short period of time? Talk about revamping the series.
Anyway, I've been saying this for years now, but I really want this game's storyline to focus more on the races of the Zelda universe. Like there is tension between the multiple races of Hyrule for some apparent reason, and the game begins just before the outbreak of a giant war between the races. Sure, it's a much more mature theme for the Zelda series, but it's about time this series grows up. -------------------

re: Storyline |

I don't think it is necessarily more mature than the moon looming overhead, ready to crash at the end of three days, the disappearance of a hero leading to the destruction of a kingdom and the near extinction of its people, or the hostile takeover of the kingdom by dark beings due to the people's own laziness.
So yeah, I think a war theme would fit perfectly well in a Zelda game. -------------------

I'm not 100 percent sure of this but i believe before Ocarina of Time took place, the kingdom was not unified and the hylians, zoras, and gorons (not sure about the kokiri)didn't see eye to eye. The king is the one that unified the races. I could see a game take place in that timeline where a version of Link eventually becomes king and unifies the kingdom of Hyrule. I believe the story is mentioned by the Deku Tree Sprout. If im mistaken sorry but im trying to pull out some very old knowledge out of my brain.
