Sorry for not following the above listed format, but the following hosts should be avoided:

CIHost:
CIHost was involved in a pretty serious class action suit a few years ago. The datails elude me but I was a customer when they had problems. I would never trust CIHost with my money, my information, or my site. I believe they were also implicated as having lied about providing services that customers paid for, but which were never implemented (specifically: customers were paying for backups, and CIHost claimed they were making those backups, but it turned out that no backups were ever performed). This may or may not be the cause of that class action suit.

Webhosting.com

Webhosting.com is a huge company. They are also very "hard headed" and always use their rules and ToS to THEIR advantage. They are not very customer oriented. I was charged an entire year's service by them, AFTER I had terminated my account. They're excuse: I did not fully complete my termination.

If you cant find a free host and you have dsl or faster, you might want to consider hosting the site yourself. Check out dns2go.com. they are a dynamic DNS service that will allow you to host a website on a dynamic IP address. I use it and i love it.. saves alot of money on hosting. Also, if you have any problems setting up your box for hosting, I, as well as many others here, can help you out. I am a systems admin for a web host company so i could answer most of your questions.

SSH, MySQL, PHP, Perl, Python, tutorials, community.
