Peter M going to address major RPG problem |
|
At Gamecon Peter Molyneux (I know I spelled that wrong) said that there was a major flaw with RPGs that has never been addressed and that he'll be doing so with Fable 3.
Now, all Peter M hyperbowling comments aside (we all know he does it so let's not talk about it) I'm interested in what it might be. A theory I have is that the game might be automatically saving constantly to avoid people reloading after tough decisions. I would actually like to see that in a game. What 'major RPG elements' do you think Peter might do away with in Fable 3? ------------------- Watch Milkenobi on youtube \ ]

I'd love their to be some sort of autosave feature and to be able to have many save files so that we could always go back and do something that we enjoyed or missed out originally!

On the Lionhead twitter he was asking fans what they felt was wrong with Fable II that could be changed.
As for what he's going on about, who knows? What's the betting it'll turn out to be something slight that he ends up yapping on about for the next year? =P ------------------- ![]()

quote Cruxis ManaLet's see... 1) Stupid looking heros 2) generally poor graphics 3) long loading times 4) glitches galore 5) cheesy expressions 6) unrewarding relationships, (Ex. meet a villager, talk to her for one minute, she marries me! wow, that was hard...), 7) money too easy to obtain - making moral choices pretty easy as well as the overall game. 8) ending SUCKED. wow, I killed the final boss in 1 shot, I feel so accomplished... And hmmmmm, should I take a million gold or save my family & dog, one of which I can revive on Knothole island and the other I could get another of within 5 minutes. For a mature game it seems very childish and silly most of the time. It's only saving graces are it's fun combat and ample quests/things to do. -------------------

Elaborate on why you think the heroes look "stupid" in Fable II please. Also, the graphics are awesome. Maybe you just need a better TV? Uhm, a MUCH better TV.

I have a 32" 720p TV. That's not the problem. The graphics are just not that great compared to most 360 games. And for the hero looking stupid, just look at his face. He looks like some silly cartoon character. I can't take the game seriously when my character doesn't look right.

Lol, the whole design of the game has a cartoon-styled artist approach, as did Fable 1. It looks awesome. It's not meant to be a realistic, insanely detailed game, which gives it a certain uniqueness, and it looks very good. Fable is extremely vibrant and appealing, whereas games such as Gears of War or Fallout look more realistic, daark and somewhat dull.
Also, your TV should support 1080i. I'd try getting onto that setting if I were you. -------------------

Having a cartoon theme is no excuse for bad textures and effects. Sure the lighting and colors are pretty, but that's about it. I should at least have the option to make my character not look like a silly doofis. Does he look like a moron here:
![]() No, he looks pretty cool actually. Not to mention that you have to make him super tall and huge and blue just to increase your abilities. That should not affect your appearance... If I don't want to have stupid blue marks all over my body and still upgrade my magic, I should have that ability. It's impossible to make your character look the way you want unless you gimp him. Even then, the outfits leave A LOT to be desired. Wheres my cool armor from fable 1? NOWHERE! Instead im stuck with fluffy outfits galore! I swear lionheads goal was to make your character look as dumb as possible... Please lionhead, give me some GOOD character customization options please... -------------------

While I agree with you on the lack of character customisation, I loved the look and feel of the game from beginning to end...

Maybe Peter intends to get rid of that old RPG staple 'hit points'. That would be an interesting idea.

I was thinking maybe this, I noticed it on the pokemon rescue team games a few years back. You are given 10 questions, answer them and your character is generated. i.e <> 1. You are at the top of a tower, you can either A. push of the people next to you B. Declare war on everyone C. Grab ahold of the person thats falling D. drop all of your gold to the beggars. <> so like if you choose evil answers, you become evil, etc. etc. And I was really hoping for the 'dark cloud' weapon break scheme, you use a weapon too much, it breaks unless you repair it. Legendary weapons can't and neither can weapons with a 'unbreakable' augment.

I've seen that done a few times before. I like it when games have that aspect to them.

Oh, the Gold issue has to be different. It was far too easy to obtain gold in fable 2. They should have where you have to pay for things, like taxes, bills. But, for some odd reason, I can't picture this game NOT being like sims.

I would like the to incorporate more similarities from Legend of Zelda, but nothing that would make it a "cheap knockoff" of the game.
