Gee, such a motivating way to start a new thread.

I started playing this game just over a day ago. So far I'm 5-6 hours in and on episode 3. oO Effectively I am just starting out, so any tips on how to go on would be appreciated.

Oh, and as the Anime Moderator I just can't resist commenting that Etna & Flonne so much remind me of 2 characters from Tenchi Muyo (Ryoko & Mihoshi). In fact, Pioneer would have been better off using the VA of Etna for Ryoko's voice. It is just too perfect.

Well, I would suggest leveling up as much as you can.

I heard that when you start out you should start with females because you can get better classes sooner.

I would definitely get a male Warrior and a male Brawler up up to level 20 as soon as possible so that you unlock the ninja class, and then proceed to level him up, because Ninja's are very good early on in the game.

They have high speed, making them dodge just aboout everything, and they counter like a mo'fo'.

Hmm.. the only characters I've picked up are a female cleric, and a female brawler. How many total characters can you have?

Clerics are pretty useless IMO, so I'd stay away. I never really healed and if you go far enough, Angels get healing moves which make them much better.

You can have an absurd amount of characters, I think it's over 100. You can only have 10 out at any given time though. To list the classes for you, Warriors, Brawlers, Ninjas, Majins, Ronins, Knights, Archers, Skulls, Mages, Clerics, Striders, EDF Soliders, Angels, Theives and then you can add on all the monster classes. A lot of the afformentioned classes are hidden and hard to obtain at the beginning of the game, so I'd stick to warriors and brawlers until you unlock ronins and ninjas. Both of those classes rock. To get a ninja, get a male brawler and a male warrior each to level 10. To get a ronin, get a female warrior and a female brawler each to level 10. With those two classes, you should be set for the long run. Then when you get better you can get EDF soliders, Angels, and especially majins, which all kick ass.

don't forget to make a thief early in the game. that's because they're the only means of getting the BEST items in the game. i'd say level them up now, or you'll get tired leveling them later.

I made my Cleric learn winged Slayer, I trained her at Caves of Ordeal, and now she is a pretty neat character.

I mean Obviously I have a Prophet but they look cool, also they can heal really well if they are leveled up.
