Yeah I am going to do what you said in a previous thread and wait until I get the top items for my characters. (some nice rares and legends.)
Then I will go into the item world.

re: Disgaea General Discussion 2 |

Had a decent weekend in D1.
Laharl is now level 78 and I am trying to get the rest of my characters to 70. I am on Level 12 - I stopped at the board with the invincible tiles and starting to level up there. Very tedious work - however I triple the XP and I combine the monsters to level 312 or so and the person who does the kill goes up about 7 levels ;p. My characters range from 50-54. So it takes about 3 go arounds per character to get to 70 - only a few have reached that. It will take long to get my top 10 characters to 70 - Laharl I will go to 80 or so. Is that strong enough to beat the game? Also what is a good level to start doing Cave of Ordeals? Thanks!

I start doing it as soon as one of my characters is capable of defeating enough council members to pass the bill, but I always rush in to impossible battles.
The enemies in the final battlefield are only around level 100. ![]() -------------------

Ahh thats not to bad - I think 80 and some 70's should be able to do the trick.
What level are the enemies at Cave of Ordeals?

Or rather, post end game...since you'd want to do it AFTER cycling over.
I too, am at the end, I'm in the Seraphic hall or something? Last chapter anyhow, like, one area before the Serarph. BTW: Did you do the Etna Diary thing? If not, you 'talk' behind the throne, and the skull (next to the Rozenqueen salesperson), and talk to the upper corner in the middle room (past the throne room), that has two monsters in it (downstairs)...go there and read each entry every chapter, and you get a good item at the last chapter...Can be done every cycle (but after the first, it isn't so exciting). BTW: The monsters in Cave of Ordeals 3, is a Cosmic Monster (uber high defence and res), so good luck killing them, even with combos...At least, not till you get to around level 100 (multiple chars), with good items. BTW: Steal the items held by the strongest monster in Celestia area 1 (4 monsters, 50% EXP boost), around 435+ ATK on weapon, and 330 DEF on the Black Armor...Sells for a goodly amount too (Around 200K?) -------------------

tallteen -
Yes I got the Etna diary thing - thank you. Yes right now I am at the last chapter first board. The four monsters there yield a very high amount of XP which is nice. I have my thief go in and steal so I can make some very nice loot then keep buying top gear for my characters. Right now Laharl is level 98 with my other 9 characters all ranging from 55-75. Do I need to level all of these characters or is it now OK to level my top 5? Lets say Laharl, 3 mages, and a few fighters/ninjas - or do I need to keep leveling all 10 for the high end game stuff. The problem I have right now is I will need level 150 before going in to the Cave of Ordeals 3 which is the very good XP spot and right now it takes 1-2 monsters at the stage I am at now to go up one level. So if I take my lowest - level 50 character and go up 1 level per time - that will be 50-100x going into the stage per character which means with 10 characters entering the stage 700-900 times! What is the best way to level at this point in the game? I know there has to be an easier way to get my characters to 150 I just need to be pointed in the right direction. Thanks!

Create a belt or weapon with very high strength stats. I know the item world seems scary at first, but really, just find some low level items, and subdue the gladiators, then put them on a legendary item and work your way through it. With weapons, you can steal the next upgrade from the item god on the hundredth floor, or, with other items, you will usually come across a monster wearing it on your way through the item. Even if you can't make it to the hundredth floor at first, every ten levels will give your item a boost.
I'd also say that you should avoid fighting anything in the item world. The only things you need to kill are specialists and item bosses/kings/generals/gods. With a bit of luck, you can complete most levels in one turn, and only take damage from the odd counter attack. The high strength stats will allow your characters to defeat monsters of far higher levels than they are. ![]() -------------------

Hi Deis -
OK I will start to get acquainted with the item world. I have been there a few times - just did not know what was going on ;p OK so I should take a regular item with high strength and go in and kill the specialists. Does the regular item have to have an orb next to strength? Then I take the subdued specialists and transfer over to a legendary item - such as armor? (Since it has strength). Then I go into the legendary item and try to upgrade it? Is this right or do I have it wrong? Thanks!

Pretty much.
You need to hunt for Gladiator type specialists - those who have an orb next to strength, you're right. You can put them on armour, but I'd advise a belt or a weapon. And then, yeah, you upgrade the item. Just play with it for a bit, you'll get it. ![]() -------------------

Cool - will do!
I will have to do this with all the weapon types since each character is good with some weapons and not with others - could take a bit of time - but I will play around with it- thanks for the tips.

Go with the belt then; you don't need to change a characters weapon that way.
This may sound a little complicated, but try to fill every slot on whatever item you choose to enhance with gladiators. The item will get a permanent bonus to its strength when you kill the item boss/general/king/god on every tenth floor, depending on how many gladiators you have on the item. The item whatever will be standing on the raised bit in the centre of the level. ![]() -------------------

OK good idea - so I will get a belt with gladiator stats and then take the subdue the gladiator specialists and transfer them to a legendary belt and then go into the leg. belt and raise it up as high as I can?
Where is a good spot to find a leg. belt? OK the last part is try to fill every spot with gladiators on the item I am leveling up - I kind of do not get that - I guess I will have to look at the items and maybe it will be more clear.

The item world is the best place to get the Legendary anything pretty much...I don't think any of the high level enemies in the main story have a belt? Not good ones anyhow...So yeah, Item world is pretty much the best option, OR unlock the Cave of Ordeals and hope to luck out on the bonus guage on the first two areas...
BTW: Even I, who know what the enemies were in CoO 3 were, I didn't expect it to be so hard...even all of my best characters put together (top 5 chars floating around 1800-2500 offensive stats, rest over 1000), could only get about 1/4 or so, of the enemy health in one turn... Yes, its 8 level 150 space monsters, one level 160 higher tier space monster... I SERIOUSLY need to go to the item world now... BTW: Get staticians to help you level up quicker And you 'combine' stat boosters (gladiators in this case), to fit as many as you can in a given item...Level bonus tops out around...I thought it was something high like 19800, for combined gladiators and other stat boosting specialists? -------------------
