re: Disgaea General Discussion 2 |

Actually, don't even bother worrying about specialists or anything, for now...all you need is to have two sword fighters who know winged slayer, your mages, and some careful thought on the Combo plus.
Don't expect the first few characters (unless they are strong, like 2000+ attack), to do any sort of real damage...instead, chain attacks. Have the first 5 or so weak characters, attack connected enemies (or all the same enemy, if you're sure they won't kill em...if you think they will, just use one char's attack to connect to connect to a different enemy. In the end, use your strong characters (mages and sword fighters) to attack a 3x3 square (or otherwise, multiple) enemies at once...You should kill at least a few, if not all of them, by the end...Just basically go from weakest, to strongest characters (in attack order). Have final 4 attackers around 2500+ Int/Atk at least. Buy weapon worth several Mil HL. Keep your mages as far away as possible, unless their HP is around 1K, and Def is around 400. -------------------

OK so have the weaker characters start attacking and weaken them and then winged slayer?
Problem is the monsters move after the first go around - then winged slayer not as effective. I will upgrade my gear then give it a shot. When is a good time to start getting specialties on weapons?

Actually, weaker enemies don't have to do damage, they just boost the combo+.
Have one person on each SIDE of the 3x3 group of enemies (have them attack last, providing they are very strong)...I recommend characters that can do winged slayer, as they'll likely have more HP and Def then the mages. Have the mages in front of, and to the left of the base pane, have on attacker (high def recommended, like space monster) in front, and a few others behind (shooters, or mages, or sword users that can do wind cutter) the base panel. That way, most of the surviving monsters will move FORWARD one spot...meaning, a majority of survivors, means you just have to move your winged slayer attackers down one spot or so, and move your allies out of the attack range...that way, winged slayer, and large 3x3 grid attacks, are still effective agains them...there will likely be one, maybe two, that go backwards, to get beside your winged slayer users, but thats fine, the majority should still be in a rough 3x3 grid. The problem is - I really can not do much damage to these guys - the high defense is really killing me.
Laharl has a very good weapon - Attack is over 3500. He can do alright killing - just want my other characters to be able to level up here as well. I guess it will take some practice and messing around to get a good strategy to work. I am only getting a bonus level of 2. How did you get up to 5-6?

After a little bit of messing around - I can get a bonus of 6 now - and that is great.
Its becoming easier now - only person I can not level up is my thief ;p - I need to get a high enough attack power for him. Also - what is a good way to raise influence for the Dark assembly? Thanks for the tips!

Technically, you're not suposed to double/triple post (just edit messages, if you have more to add).
Anyhow...Yeah, your weapons just plain suck, I guess...Like I said, have at least your stronger characters (Yes, your MAGES included), have weapons worth several million each...Trust me, it makes a LOT of difference (difference between success, and failure). Only way to raise influence, is to bribe...or defeat the Lord of Terror...Which gives you a special rank, making passing a bill on the assembly, almost guaranteed...but trust me, you're nowhere NEAR the level required to get that >_> Basically, all bills to unlock new areas, pretty much require beatdowns (unless you're lucky). Probs with theif (and other gun users) leveling, is that guns only hit one target BTW: Sorry about the last line on my last post, I'm using the PS3 browser, and there is a dumb character limit on messages -_- If you couldn't tell, I was saying "Get specialists later"....like, after you have pwned in CoO3 a bunch of times. -------------------

*Apoligizes deeply, in a bow, to any mod that has to see him double posting because of his char limit, but he needs to say more stuff...merge my posts, if you happen to see it*
Ironic, me double posting after telling you not to >_> About influence, are you talking about "Influence" listed as a number? In that case, I think that is actually the influence of the senators (I think it is just their combined level, or something)...I could be wrong, I've never bothered with the specifics... BTW: Recommendation for Theifs, and other gunners (on top of other single area strikers)...quite simply, just weaken all the other enemies to near death via Combo+ attacks, and on the next turn, either have the thief have super high hit, or combo+ it so the thief can kill when they go...Elemental weaknesses are a plus for attacks (Rapidfire for enemies weak to fire, triburst for enemies weak to ice, normal shot, or a proximal shot, etc, if enemies not weak to either ice or fire)... -------------------

Talteen - sorry - I can edit posts if I post before someone else does.
Also - I have 10 characters out and the first run through I get a combo of 9. Then usually a combo of 8- then I destroy the monsters on the 3rd go around - so I think that is the best I can do. I get a bonus of 6 - sometimes 7 - so what else do I need to do really? I am getting a ton of exp and money. Also right now my Disgaea playing time will be going down - I just started BioShock and game is pretty much amazing! I will still be playing Disgaea though ;p - just not as many hours at a time.

re: Disgaea General Discussion 2 |

No worries, it was just for future reference, since you can draw ire from some mods, by repeated double/multi postings ^_^
Need to do? Well, I'd get enough money to get all your major players the best items (Weapons and armor) money can buy, and then go through those items, and maybe you'll see some rank 39 legendary weapons (like Cosmic Blade), and level those up to 100, and get the rank 40 weapons (like Yoshitsuna...a sword that can do normal attacks, from like 4 panels away)...And eventually go through all of CoO, to get the Rank 40 fist weapon at the end... Then doing the other bonus dungeons, (but be in the high thousands, I would say).... Really, like with the rest of the game, its all about power leveling, but now its got even more focus on it, and getting better weapons and armor, to take on the bonus dungeons... And farm Specialists when you feel up to it too ^_^ I'm going to be playing Overlord on the 360 most of the time myself, but I'll still post here, if you need more help and stuff ^_^ -------------------

What levels do you recommend my characters get to in CoO3 before trying the item world?
I am looking forward to getting some of the best gear and doing the high level dungeons! Overlord was a great game - had a ton of fun with it - hope you enjoy it ;p

re: Disgaea General Discussion 2 |

Depends on the item you are entering, but the higher your level, the better
I'd recommend leveling at least a couple of your characters to a good level, like 250 (not hard at all, with the Staticians) If you're entering high ranking items, well...go by the level it says on the bottom of the item (when talking to the item world mage)...Try to be at least I dunno...10% higher than it says? So if it says level 100, try to be around level 120+ for at least a few characters...And only take it 10 levels at a time...GOOD ARMOR AND WEAPONS ARE A MUST, pretty much Like I said...buy some uberness weapons and armor...maybe save a real good one, to level up a bit in the item world And if you see a legendary cosmic blade on the Bonus guage (or equipped to an enemy) do whatever you can, to get it, they arn't that common (some people have a hard time finding them) Rsrch Rank 39 Weapons Yeah, Overlord is pretty fun, I have the Green goblins now ^_^ Need to find the blue ones though >_> Will trade Rose, to get Violet -------------------

The item world really isn't as scary as either of you are making it out to be.

I'm not saying its scary, just that it is best to be prepared...
It REALLY sucks when you're doing well in the item world, only to die at the end (like, the multiple of 10s stages)... In any case, if you're going to a high level item world, have some stealing hands (high level ones, like around or above 100HIT), a gency's exit, and some healing items... -------------------
