re: Disgaea General Discussion 2

In the item portion of the shops, there are "hands" at the bottom of the list, so you buy one of those, then when you want to steal from an enemy, open your item menu in battle and then click on the enemy you want to steal from. Then it'll open a mini-menu showing their items and the percentage that you'll be able to steal them. The higher the HIT on a "hand" the better chance you'll have at stealing something.

And about the clerics, yes, you would only need one in the beggining, and I belive the female ones are actually better anyway.

I have a number of those Stealing Hands, but was never quite sure just how to use them. Are they like ABC Gum in that they disappear after you use them?

Yes, they do dissapear after you use them, what's really cool is if you go in a stealing hand or something, and get it up to level ten or higher, the HIT increases and that really helps the chances of stealing.

Is that the only way to up your thieving percentage? Or is it like any other skill in that you have to use it in order to improve in it?

re: Disgaea General Discussion 2

The rouge class are the only characters that can have a better than 50% chance of stealing anything. I believe it mostly depends on your level and your hit stat, but don't quote me on that. Just be around the level of the guy your stealing from and you'll be fine. (When you get much higher in levels, it varies. A level 2500 space pirate can take Baal's equipment with 99% accuracy.)

re: Disgaea General Discussion 2

This is the formula in the help section :

The stealing formla was discovered by Scy046. Here's the simplified version
you'll find in Bend's Item Guide:

Thieves:
--------
Thieves have a stealing chance up to 99%.
c = h + t*2 + 25 - e - r*3 - a

c: The percentage chance to steal.
h: The HIT statistic of the hand being used (including specialists).
t: The level of the thief.
e: The level of the enemy.
r: The rank of the item.
a: 0 if the rarity of the item is Normal, 10 if the rarity is Rare, 30
if the rarity is Legendary, or 100 if the item has rarity 0.

So by far the most important aspect is your level, nothing else really matters too much.

Yea, im pretty serious because of how useful they will be later in the game. However too much is a bad Idea also, you often have leveled up or rare Items, but not for all.

So you do need to balance out the characters you will use, and the one's you made just because they look cool.

Yup, nothing is higher than the awesome hand. It definitely helps, but it's really all about the level - the hands don't make much of a difference.

I usually only buy a..."hand"...if it has a resident on the HIT. That gives it a big boast when you level it up.

So long as your in the 3000s, you can steal most anything with a bandit hand.

Why would you waste your time getting the Marskman out of a hand when it would be extremely low (probably in the 15-25 range), when you can just get a good item that will have a Marksman in the 85-150 range, and if you prefer, move it to the said hand?

What I mean is I just buy the hand, i don't level it up. It saves a lot of time, or when you don't feel like going in item world, but still want a higher chance for stealing.

And thank you Rue for the compliment. Shadowslayer did do a good job on it, And I don't mind that you didn't make one, I mean you guys do it for free and in your spare time, so that should be enough.
