American Samoa || The Start Of A Legacy |
![]()
American Samoa in recent years have not been that successful in football with 13-0 defeat to Fiji and a world record 31-0 defeat against Australia. In all of the teams that they have played, they have won 0, drawn 0 and lost 26. This shows that American Samoa is a very weak football nation. American Samoa's weakness is due to both its small population and the popularity of American football, baseball and basketball. Now that current manager David Brand has left the managers seat, the Arab Prince has announced that unknown English manager Mario Johnson is now the new manager of the American Samoa nation football team. In Mario Johnson's first act of manager he has announced that he has arranged friendly's with Afganaistan, Tuvalu and Sao Tome and Principe.

The match began and Afghanistan were in complete control with 4 shots coming in the first 10 minutes of the game. Most of the Afghanistan shots go miles wide or miles over the bar. Just before half time it was American Samoa who almost found the break, but the shot just went round the post. The half time whistle went and Afghanistan were in complete control. In the second half, it was a midfield battle with Afghanistan getting a few more shots in. It was near the end of match that American Samoa almost scored with their shots getting tipped over the bar and just going over the bar or past the post. The final whistle went with the American Samoa crowd cheering it was a good result for American Samoa in a match that they expected to lose. How Mario Johnson will react to this result we do not know.

![]() American Samoa Rise To The Challenge ![]()
American Samoa started the match brightly with a couple of shots in the first 10 minutes. However on the 15 minute mark, Jeff Lewis found the break through with a cracking shot from 35 yards. 10 minutes later it was team mate Kurt Hopkinson who got the second and surley put the game safe. Just 6 minutes later Tuvalu kept fighting and fighting until Rob Parsons finally got the goal that got Tuvalu back in the match. For the rest of the first half it was American Samoa who were fighting for a goal to make the game safe, but the sides went into the break with the score 2-1 to American Samoa. In the second half, American Samoa were looking tired but determined to not concede a goal and to make the game safe. With 11 mnutes left on the clock, Rhys Cannon made the game safe with a fine finished to make the game 3-1. It was only 3 minutes later that Kurt Hopkinson got his second goal of the game to make it 4-1 to American Samoa. In the dying minutes of the game, Joe Nicholson got a goal for Tuvalu to make the game 4-2. When the final whistle went Mario Johnson jumped in the air and cheered in delight that his hard working team had won the game.

![]() Against All Odds ![]()
American Samoa started the match brightly with Steve Crosby who opened the scoring with a fine header inside the area. Other chances were made in the first half with American Samoa looking for that second goal. But it was Soa Tome & Principe who almost got a goal as the Soa Tome & Principe striker skipped round all of the defence before shooting wide. With minutes left in the first half, American Samoa had a goal ruled out for offside. The half time whistle went with the score 1-0 to American Samoa. In the second half, it was really one-way traffic with American Samoa getting into the Soa Tome & Principe penalty are, but failing to shoot on target. Against all odds, Soa Tome & Principe put the ball in the net from a corner, but it was ruled out with a push on the American Samoa defender. With American Samoa keeping pressing and pressing Jeff Santos made the game safe on 74 minutes with a fine strike from outside the box. For the rest of the match American Samoa kept pressing until they got the 3rd goal. However they failed to get it. The final whistle went and American Samoa went straight to the American Samoa fans and celebrated in front of them. A good win against very strong opponents.

![]() Simply Fantastic ![]()
Both teams started brightly with the game being a midfield battle. With both teams going forward, it was American Samoa who found the break through as Robert Wicks header found the back of the net past the keeper. The half time whistle went with American Samoa being 1 up going into the break. Early in the second Scott Edwards put American Samoa 2 up and at that time the game safe. However Reunion kept on fighting and finally got a goal as Jean-Sebastien Jaures got a goal for Reunion on 65 minutes. For the rest of the match American Samoa kept fighting and fighting for the 3rd and safe goal but they didn't get it. The final whistle went which meant a 3rd win in a row for American Samoa.
