I prefer the Thor because of the larger size of the mech allowing it to carry more weapons, yet it still has decent speed and the all important jumpjets.

My favorite mech depends on my tactics for that game. I usually go with the Victor, it can hold the all-important Heavy Gauss Rifle and it goes pretty fast with a few engine upgrades (Though a Victor going 90kph looks pretty weird). If I feel like a sniper I'll choose something a little slower and load up on Light Gauss Rifles or Arrow Vs.

You foo's don't know anything. The Mauler is the best mech to play as. 2 er large lasers, 4 ultra ac 2's, 34 lrms. yep doesn't get any better

Hmmm I gotta go with the Black Knight. It has great armor and not bad speed for an assault type. Plus I love the little shield on the right arm lol.

The HGAUSSes do nothing outside of 600m and the CERPPCs create massive heat. My LGAUSSes will annihilate you while outranging all your weapons.

Oh yeah, try my Fafnir, with two er medium pulse lasers, two er ppcs, two small x pulse lasers, a large x pulse laser and a clan lbx ac20, with maxed out armor and 63kph top speed, think you can beat that?

I probably could, after you shut down after 2 seconds because of the heat.

I have 2 favorite mechs, adn anyone who's ever run into can figure out the first one.
FYI: neither of these mechs are ment to play on a server with heat buildup enabled
1. Nova Cat: 2ERPPCs, 1 RAC2, max ferro armor (no armor in right torso), engine upgrades to about 89kph, the rest of the weight split between xpulse and clan lasers (medium and small)
2. Templar: 2ERPPCs, 2 RAC2s, 2 small x-pulse, 2 large xpulse, ferro armor, some engine upgrades, can't remember how many at the moment.
If i feel like sniping, I swap out the RACs and some of the lassers for ERPPCs and LGUASS
Don't criticize on the heat buildup to much, I've been playing warcraft 3 and halo for about a year or so; since there seems to have a been a change in attitude about heat buildup.
P.S. what is a good site for software and map updates, the microsoft site no longers carries them and everysite i've found so far is a couple of years out of date.

my favorite mech has to be the sunder, i don't belive anyone has mentioned it yet. i run without heat buildup, not as much fun, the two setups i run are 1) 4 er large lasers, 2 er ppcs, and 1 arrow iv cluster, tops at 76kph 2) 2 er large lasers, 2 er ppcs, 1 heavy gauss, and 1 arrow t, tops at 62kph. since the sunder has a wicked torso twist i can hit anyhting, and my firepower rating is literally off the charts. i crush people in multiplayer.

Hmmm, with so many mechs its hard to pick only one. A config I've had good results with is as follows.... A Thor with 3 large lasers and 3 medium lasers, all extended range. This requires at least 10 heat sinks. The 3 large lasers are one group, the 3 mediums another group. This allows for almost continuous firing without overloading the heat sinks and its easy to manage only two weapon groups. Getting hit with 3 LLs simultaneously can be very discomforting. Also the Thor is reasonably fast, fast enough to keep out of the way of big boys like Atlas and Diashi. I also max out the armour.

Jeez, I can't believe people actually use AC2s. Worthless guns.

I have played most of the mech games and read most of the books. But for MW4 there are a lot of mechs to choose from. It's really hard to say what mech can carry me through all missions, but what shocks me is that not a lot of people are going for the Timberwolf (some may know it better as the Mad Cat). But for me, I go for the Templar.
