good ways to kill the metal slimes is instant kill abilities(notice how i said abilities, and not spells) The hero learns two spear abilities that have instant kill properties: thunder thrust and lightning thrust. Obviously the latter of the two is better, but requires more work to acheive.

Yangus learns two axe moves that have instant kill properties, hatchet man and excecutioner. again, the same applies to yangus with these abilities as the heroes spear abilities.
