Forum Rules/Questions/Notices |
|
[Here are the rules] 1. No Spamming: spam includes off-topic posting, one-liners, senseless blather, etc. Also, do not reply to every single topic; it's very frustrating for a member to step into a forum where one person has taken all topics. If you have nothing to add to a discussion, then just don't add anything; simple as that. 2. No Flaming: it's worse than spamming. To flame someone is to insult or offend them. Come on, you know how to watch your mouth. 3. No Advertising other websites: just read the rule. Advertisements will be deleted and offenders will be dealt with accordingly. 4. No Circumventing bans: if you get banned, just wait it out. If you create a new account to get through your ban you'll land in a whole heap of trouble. 5. No crap Reviews: use your judgement what is an appropriate user review. If you continually spam user reviews, you'll be dealt with. 6. Read the Site-wide Forum Rules: it's got everything you need there. [color=#666666]This message was edited by DeathKnight on Aug 28 2003.

I'll post any notices here if there are any. You guys can ask questions if you'd like, it doesn't really matter.
For my first announcement, I have been installed here permanently as moderator. I am no longer a temporary moderator, so basically if you'd like to apply for this forum, you'll need my consent. There are some that I'm considering for co-moderator position so just pm me and I'll tell you what I think.

[ Notice ] Thread titled: NUMBER ONE has been deleted. Please do not make threads just concerning the individual ppd of the forum, as that is not constructive or even able to be discussed; in truth it is spam. Also, stats are only temporary

Mr. Moderator, I have a question please. Who decides to open new forums and who decides whether the forum will be closed to non-registered users? For example, there is a forum for Max Payne 2. The game is not out yet and the forum has no active post since 2 months ago. Why is a popular forum like ETM open to unregistered users, but a small, rather dead forum like Max Payne 2, is not? I'm just curious. Thanks.

Moderators select their settings. For a little while this forum was closed off to guests as well, but I decided to put it back on the 'anyone' setting to come with the game's release. If guests act up, I'll have to close off to member's only, however, the guests in here have, for the most part, been quite sociable and helpful

Also, in response to your first question, the person who opens new forums is a Neo Era Inc. employee, Wolfwood. First, they are requested in this thread

[ Notice ] I've decided to shut this forum off from guests. There's been some guest spam lately, and mostly just a lot of bullshit abuse of the forum by a few guests. Sorry that a few guys have to ruin it for everyone else, but that's the way it goes sometimes. To all guests browsing now, you can JOIN NEOSEEKER here: [ << Join >> ]. Thanks

Okay dokie, how would one become a moderator. Not that I got rejected, but what terms would you want another? Is the forum not active enough...?

The forum is plenty active enough, but currently I'm doing fine handling the forum alone. I don't have quite as much time to participate, but as far as actual moderating goes, I'm fine for time. Although, people are being considered for the co-moderator position.

[ Notice ] For some reason, people are starting a common practice of tearing the shit out of people who mistakenly type something wrong, for instance in the threads "Sord" and "Curch" there have been examples. Common guys, lighten up a bit. Just because someone misses a letter while typing, it doesn't give you reason to spam the thread with "HAHA He can't spell right!!!" and in doing so flame the originator. We're all human here (I hope), and we're all very capable of mistakes, so don't tear the shit out of someone for mistyping. And besides, spamming and/or flaming is a hundred times worse than making a typo Just chill out guys, alright? ------------------- ![]() They hand in hand with wand'ring steps and slow, Through Eden took their solitary way

Exactly. It's stupid and immature to make assumptions like "this kid's *bleep*ed!" so let's just chill out and cut people some slack guys

Nah, that instance wasn't half as bad. Pointing it out isn't so bad, just not really needed. Where it got bad was in the "Sord" thread, and that's why bans were handed out

[ Notice ] From July 2-29th I will be gone, away on a trip to Paris. I know this is an extremely long period of time, and for that, I can only offer apologies. It has been a month and a half with this forum so far, and you guys have been really well-behaved. I'm leaving you in good hands tho - the Temporary Moderator will be installed over the weekend. I have already made my decision, so no need to pm for a request The reason why I am informing you all now, however, is because to give you a week's warning. Also, to warn you beforehand that the moderator I'm chooosing does not play Enter the Matrix and does not visit this forum. He's a real good guy tho, and a good friend - he also happens to be a damn good moderator. He's been modding since back in November 2002, so he knows what he's doing. This just means, be on your best behavior, and try to be extra helpful. I'll ask the Temp. Mod. who behaved well and who helped out a lot, something which may prove rather useful in the future If, however, I hear of troublmakers (which I don't expect I will), expect a nice leg breaking Just behave yourselves aight?
