i receive a error for only final fantasy 12 when i try to play on my ps2..it says

"Dualshock 2 analog controller not connected to controller port 1. Please connect a Dualshock 2 analog controller to controller port 1."

this only happens for my FF12 game.. all other PS2 games work ..any ideas? i just got this game in the mail and its brand new ..so please help

I have read that FF XII has issues with certain models of dual shock 2 controllers. Can you borrow a different one from someone else? Otherwise you might need to buy a new one.

I have the same thing happen during play with Final Fantasy XII regarding my current favorite controller.

If I 'baby it' it while I am playing FFXII, then I tend not to see that problem come up as much. Though this same dual-shock like controller that I speaking with reference to will also 'activate' on PS2 startup with a direction stick functionality glitch. It acts as if it is locked in some direction; so the Player Character will wander off in some direction unless I take charge and move the opposite way---useless, nor will unplugging, nor will repowering up the system correct it.

I can get it to work correctly by sorta turning off the sets, and like jiggling the sticks carefully, and then powering back on. ??

I suspect that the stick has a bad orbit, and the PS2 is sensitive to that instead of to the plumb center, so it chooses to think that the stick is level just in time for the game to initiate with a non upright controller. So then Final Fantasy XII on this PS2 thinks that whenever I let go of the stick, that it must mean it is time for the Player Character to take a constitutional off to the side there, for now. It is sort of disturbing, to see technology acting curious; if like that. It is alive!

That problem once and still occurring with my damaged controller, although it works with the rest of my games...

Mine does not work better than with any of my games. I bought a brand new (r DualShock [edit:]"2" controller for my system, mint condition, never been opened, in case the one I am using goes completely Gone Fishing.

Since I would be angry if in the middle of a big Final Fantasy XII Boss battle, I do not have to choose to get to a store to buy a new one with my Boss battle held on paused, or by turning the game off and working my way back to the battle after I get back with a new controller.

Sorry everybody, (and EMaster MK): It was a (r DualShock2 I have bought. I meant to says that since what it it, but had a brain-freeze.

I find that when I am going through an area, say the
Giza Plains,
my Controller will fail a few times an hour, and I'll have to shake it and hit the start button a couple of times. On other games, oddly, it does a lot worse.

You know, DualShock may differ from DualShock2 in how it act with your console.
