I am currently pretty far in the game (lvl 55) and decided to go back and start working on earlier hunts. Eventually I ran into a problem where I require access to the Barheim Passageway which I went through much earlier in the game. Now I attempt to talk to Dantro's wife and hopefully find that Banga which gives the key afterward. Well, I never followed up on this apparent sidequest early on in the game. Has anyone had any luck with figuring out where to go from here? Dantro's wife and the rest of the women in the southern village are waiting for the men to return with their boats. The kid that was supposed to go with you to the northern village across the river doesn't allow me that option. In addition the northern village is completely empty except for a Cartographer's Guild Moogle. I have never given Dantro's wife any of the items she was supposed to seek, have not found anything in the waters ever, don't remember getting a "Python's Scaled Skin", and I still have the cactus flower.

Sorry for being so long winded. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It looks like this may be a one-time chance quest.. and this links to one of the 12 Espers as well.

This is what I did, if I remember it right.

Go back to Dantro. You can find him where you killed the MOB hunt cactuar. Dantro will tell you to go to his wife. Go north. I remember I walked to Nalbina Fortress and rented a Chocobo from there and went north to where Dantro's wife is. (chocobo makes travel faster, hehehe!)

When you talk to Dantro's wife this time, she'll tell you to go back to Dantro and ask him for something. You go back to Dantro and he will ask you to find something by the crates nearby. You get it and bring it back to Dantro's wife. Then Dantro's wife will ask for some more ingredients. The rest will be easy.

By this time, you can already talk to the boy who's got the ferry boat. He will drive you to the other side of the river. The last ingredient Dantro's wife will ask can be found on the cliffs on the other side of the river.

Anyway, when you complete this quest. You will obtain the Barkeim key.

Awesome. Thanks. I'll try it out now. I was beginning to wonder if I should start trying to find Dantro and it looks like that's where it all starts.

It worked! It was a fairly long process but finally got it finished. Thanks again.

Go and speak to him anyway. I think that should work.

Yes.

Yeah if you do all of that you will have access to the barheim passage again and all the stuff inside. Be cautious in there though. It's tougher than before! Good luck.
