Well as the title suggests i am confused,
Did doom 2's story continue after doom 1 and if it did surely people will think this is after doom 2

What are you talking about? This isn't a remake at all. Um... I don't know if you know about this, but the whole point of sequels is that they follow on from the original. What about the Godfather movies? They were all continuations from the previous one. This is Doom 3, before that it was Doom and Doom 2. There's no remake in here at all, it's completely original from the first two...

Incorrect PL. It is a remake of the '93 hit "Doom." The reasoning behind the title, is probably just to make it easier for people to follow. Titles mean nothing my friend; it's all about the contents of the book, not the cover right?

DK is right. Doom III is not a sequel to Doom, Doom II, Final Doom or any other version. It is a remake of the original Doom from '93.

Well the name still seams odd to me,BTW any chance anyone could fill me in on the story lines from Doom 1 and 2

Anyhoo, I seriously had no clue about this. Man, I played Doom 1 back in like 1995 or something when it came out back in South Africa. I don't remember the storyline...

So I apologize for misinforming you. Guess I need to do more research on the game...

But anyway, that just makes this game even cooler. I loved the first two! At least now I know that the storyline is going to kick ass!

Basically, it takes place in the year 2144 (I believe). There's a company by the name of UAC doing experiments. These experiments have never been done, and thus the top scientists from the world have gathered. You are a security guard, covering the building. Suddenly, your commanding officer calls you away and in your absense a gate to Hell is opened, and thus the demons et al come out and raise chaos.

Its called Doom 3 just because it sounds better than calling it Doom 1 remake. simple as that.

wait a sec i thought the story line to the first one was about a mining colony who open the portal to hell and your sent up there with a bunch of marines to find out why they lost contact with the colony

Either way you're fighting nude demons all the way back to hell. Trent Reznor's music is probably the most remember-able part of Doom to me. The music itself lets you know if you're about to be eaten alive or if its okay to press the skull button.

It is not to do with Doom 1 or 2 it is just a game alone because doom 1 and 2 had absolutly NO story line so Doom 3 is not after doom 1 or 2.

Yep. The name of a game is important. Yes the content is more important but the game itself needs to sound badass to.
