The League is a half-hour comedy about male friendship, marriage, parenting, suburbia, and growing up or refusing to grow up through a circle of friends involved in a fantasy football league. It premieres Thursday at 10:30 PM ET on the cable network FX. I saw some commercials for it yesterday during football, wasn't totally sold on it but considering the premise and that it revolves around fantasy sports, I still plan to check it out. With any luck it'll be on iTunes or I can watch the episodes on FX's website since I currently don't have cable.

The premise sounds better than the commercials make it seem, which have been absolutely awful. I'd rather just have an extra episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

I saw a couple, the one I best remember was about a convicted felon going away for 10 years, but could be talked down to 5 or 7 years if his lawyer would give the other one the #1 pick in the upcoming draft.

I havent watched it but wanted to. Does the show talks more about like nfl fantasy stuff or is it more like comedy sorts?

Missed it last night too (I don't have FX right now) but will try to either get it from iTunes or watch it online somewhere. A couple reviews I read of the show were relatively positive, it seemed to be somewhere in the middle in terms of comedy mixed in with fantasy sports talk. One review said "Overall, "The League" leans more heavily towards The Funny and not as heavily towards The Gross and The Absurd of "It's Always Sunny." This review, by the way, was written by a woman who also happens to play fantasy football.

I know a lot about it and that's part of why the show appeals to me. I naturally gravitate to shows where sports is significantly involved in the main storyline. Sometimes people take this stuff so seriously it's to the point of ridiculously funny-5 fewer years in prison for your client in exchange for a #1 draft pick? How can you not laugh at that kind of trade?

i found the show enjoyable however i don't see myself making a point of watching. just something i'd watch if it happend to be on. also the appeal of the humor was somewhat diminished in this episode because some of the best lines being used ad nauseum to advertise the show for the past month or so. but i fully expected that going in so meh.

It's on iTunes so I downloaded and just watched it. Not too bad, I got a few good laughs out of it, but just too many crude sex jokes & references for me. That bartender at the party was really hot though. I'll probably stick with it throughout the run, I think it's only 6 episodes and hopefully it gets better. May not get more than that considering it didn't open well in ratings-only 1 million viewers but part of that could be blamed on baseball (went opposite World Series).
