I didnt see a topic for this and theres only like one site that has other poeople custom maps on it and its only got like 20. so lets put a layout of our custom maps here for everyone to try! since i dont got my gba handy, i cant show any of mine... but lets try to follow this...
1.put its name and any other info
2.make sure to create a legend ie: X=plain W=water
thats it! lets make a map book lol!

I can't really do maps, I prefer to use either - others maps or the games maps.
So post some people!

Now, units.

Top left is Orange Star, top right Blue Moon, bottom left Green Earth, bottom right is Yellow Comet.

Each player controls one of every unit except a T - Copter. On Orange Star island, the units are: (starting from top left row by row to bootom right)
Rocket, Artly, Md Tank, B Copter, Missile, Space for HQ, Infantry, Neotank, Mech, Recon, Anti-Air, Bomber, APC, Tank, Fighter.
On the four spaces in the 'fish's tail' of the island (the island looks like a fish) is (again the same method) a Lander, B-Ship, Cruiser, Sub.

Put this into four way symmetry with the other islands.

NOTE: Quote my post to see the actual map. It gets disorientated.

Dude 3 things.

1 When you make a map like you did there and are telling us unit placement just post a map with the same dimensions as the terrain map but put the unit locations onto it instead of the terrain along with another key.

I found a Vietnam map which was done this way, it was an okay map as well.

2 Unless you're already using the letter for another piece of terrain try to use the Key, P = Plain, B = Base, H/Q = HQ etc.

I left the choice with the HQ coz it fits with either but meh.

3 Playtest, just for the heck of it, this is Neoseeker not AWN so we won't flame you for sending in bad maps, we'll just use you as our source of amusement.

I'm already bored with my current one, also known as skythelegend : MAYBE!

ill be putting a variety of maps i made on soon.
some ive worked on tweaked for a couple months after playing them at random.
some include things like....
op. rhineburg (WW2 major naval op.)
Op. barbarosa (nazi invasion of soviet russia)
stalingrad (everyone knows... if you dont... look it up...)

i found moospikers map to be a little difficult because of the disoientation due to not putting a unit layout also. So i may have layed the unit out wrong but i had enjoyed trying to work this one out. good work moospiker, i give it a 5/10

The only advice I can give is to try to make these maps enjoyable, but also try to enjoy making them.

I look forward to your maps, hopefully I'll like at least one of them enough to play it myself.

I made a few other maps.

-Consenquence: 60% done

Now i have a question*
How do i put a accurate layout of my map on the internet. Anyone that has tried on microsft word or something knows it screws up and ends up unevenly. Now if you google custom advance wars maps, theres a site that comes up hat has color pictures of the maps, how do they do that? Just need to know or i cant really put my maps on because they wont make sense.

Well, go to AWN and get the AWS map editor there and copy the map(s) from your DS, save into folder, go on a photo hosting site like Photobucket and host, then copy the image code then paste in here. Done.

and i was saying thats why i went in the infantry and not radar, because many people joke about us and tell us that were to dumb to do anything else but fight in the army.
