A True FFXI story: Love, Lies, & Betrayal

A True FFXI story: Love, Lies, & Betrayal

Prologue:
Let me start off with how long I've been apart of TeamNeo. I've been apart of the TeamNeo community for 6 months now. 6 months is a long time. In March I bought a linkshell and named it TeamNeoUnderground. It was suppose to be TeamNeo, but because the last leader left and broke the original linkshell, I kinda took over and took the thing underground, hence the name of the linkshell, TeamNeoUnderground. The reason I bought this Linkshell was for those who still wanted to be in TeamNeo, who were coming in from the PS2 platform. It looked like they still wanted to be in it, even if the old leader was gone. Over time, there had been numerous amounts of Neoseekers and non-Neoseeker coming into the Seraph Server and being apart of this community. Now 4 months later, now, the Linkshell is near empty and guess what I see.

Chapter 1: Love
Date: June 21, 2004.
I'm logged on to FFXI now, the first thing I always do is check my friend list to see who is on. To my surprise and excitement, GoddessOfLove (non-Neoseeker Member) is online after about 2 weeks of being gone. I then look into my linkshell list, to my surprise again, she does not have the linkshell equipped, but I notice that she is in S. Gustaberg, a zone right next to mine. So I quickly run out to see and greet her. The moment I examine her, guess what Linkshell I see equipped. TeamNeo. Not TeamNeoUnderground, the one I made, and not the original TeamNeo linkshell that had been broken. There was only one difference between this new one and the original one, the colors. I remember seeing the original TeamNeo linkshell as a light blue, this new one was a darker blue. Then, guess who I see running behind me with the same linkshell equipped. It was my best friend online, Xio (Neoseeker Member). I stand there with my TeamNeoUnderground Linkshell equipped dumbfounded.

Chapter 2: Lies
I ask Xio "Wtf is this?" I get nothing but laughter from that Taru. When I ask who gave it to him, he said "Ayani (non-Neoseeker member)." I asked him who the leader is, he says he doesn't know. I ask who else is in it, he says only him and GoddessOfLove. This is when I loose my temper and warp back to Bastok. I look on the linkshell friend list again and see Foxis (Neoseeker Member), in the Zeruhn Mines. I run there, find him with his busy icon on, and check his linkshell. It's a TeamNeo linkshell. I get frustrated, I warp back to Bastok. I look at my friend list again, Leelya (Neoseeker Member) is in Port Bastok. I haul ass there, I spot Leelya and check her. No Linkshell. I tried to play it cool and ask if she is still in linkshell, I get 2 answers, the GZ and GroundZero linkshell. I also asked if she got the new TeamNeo linkshell. She has no. I excuse myself and go somewhere else to think. This is where I meet Ayani, TeamNeo linkshell equipped and everything. But the weird thing when I checked him, was that he was only holding a linkpearl, not a linksack, so that meant he couldn't have given one to Xio. I decide to play it cool again and ask if he belong to Neoseeker.com, he wasn't. So I go back to my Mog House and try to piece everything together, there was only one piece missing. Who was the linkshell leader? For some crazy idea, I decide to track down Leeyla again. The moment I saw the blue linkshell symbol by her name, I found out that she had lied to me. I checked her, she had the TeamNeo linkshell on. But not only did she have it, she was the leader.

Chapter 3: Betrayal
The next thing I did was /clap at her and said "…nice linkshell." I quickly went to my mog in disbelief, but still, all the answers were there. I didn't want to believe it, but I had to. I began to talk to my friend again, Xio. I just couldn't believe that he had lied to me, but I couldn't let that anger get in the way of my thirst of answers. I found out that this linkshell was made just for me, but not the way you would think. It was a linkshell that was made to exclude me from TeamNeo. I asked, "Why?" This was when Leeyla gave me a /tell to go to the Steaming Sheep Restaurant (store in Port Bastok). She wanted to straighten everything out. I decided to let Leelya to tell me and not my best friend. I didn't want to be mad with him anymore, it seems that he was just following orders. I take my time and make my way to the restaurant. Once I get there, I waited a few minutes for Leelya to show up. A few other members show before she does, Rhamiel (Neoseeker Member) and GoddessOfLove. I /wave, and they /wave back. Finally the new leader comes in. I make the first move and greet her. She offers me a trade to the new linkshell. I decline. She tells me that I would need this to communicate with Liggel (Neoseeker Member). This was when I had solved why this had happened. In my head, I go back to a week ago. Biggel (Liggel's mule), Xio and I were chatting in the linkshell. Then Biggel start flaming on me, and end with calling me a legendary fag. Xio just laughed like it was nothing. Then I, still be lighthearted decide to pull a little joke. I joke boot Biggel, but before I could give him another one, he went AFK. A few days later, this is when the Neoseekers started dropping from the linkshell. I just assumed it was a temporary thing and that they went to the Husui linkshell. About that same week, I saw Biggel again, I gave him another linkpearl. I told him what happen and how I couldn't give him another pearl back then, because he was AFK. Everything seemed normal when he took the linkshell back. Now This is what exactly I told the new linkshell when I equipped it. The rest of the linkshell starts to explain my faults as being a leader. I typed too much, acted unleader-like, and talked bad about them. This is when I just unequipped this linkshell and quitted.

Its not like I quitted, but they excluded me, then I quitted.

It's a friggin GAME, you moron - don't take things so personally, you'll never get through life by worring about crap like this.

Sure, it was stupid and childish - but there are thousands, nay, tens of thousands, of other players you can group up with in a LS. Pity you haven't thought of that before ranting on.
