Release time and Konami Updates

As the news hit's I'll be updating this with the latest word from Konami. I'll also be shooting to try and get a preview done on the title for the site so that you guys can get a firsthand look at the working of it. ^^

Here's the initial info from KOA hq.
-----------------------------------

DDRMAX2 Dance Dance Revolution™

Release date: Fall 2003

Genre: Music

Platform: Sony PlayStation® 2

Get your dancing shoes on and pump up the volume! Konami’s dancing revolution rolls on with the release of DDRMAX2™ for Sony PlayStation® 2. Now offering players a whole new library of unforgettable licensed
and exclusive songs for the U.S., DDRMAX2 includes all-new high-energy play modes and an enhanced interface. Players will still have to stay on their toes as all of the standard game modes and the
ever-challenging Workout Mode return!
------------------------------------

Yeah that's right Fall 2003 for the US version and the Japanese version is set for this spring. >_< Either way it's almost too little too late for both versions as MAX2 will be almost a year old at that point and EX2 will be just on the horizon. Who knows what features konami has up their sleeve though.

re: Release time and Konami Updates

As I see it....Konami's Bemaniseries is so far on track since bringing DDR here. Max2 is being released exactly one year from Max1s first arrival.

re: Release time and Konami Updates

So much for getting a first look in sometime. Konami PR refered me to ddrfreak if I want anymore ddr info or screenshots. ¬_¬ wow that's some effort at spreading the word about the title and anything that it may offer.

April 23rd is the popular date right now. Hopefully KOJ will stay on course with that date so we can get a preview of it's offerings.

re: Release time and Konami Updates

I hope they stick to the tracks, but as far as USA release I'm already seeing them blotch up the songlist as they did for MaxUSA, not saying the list was bad or anything I just hoped for an entire port of Max.

re: Release time and Konami Updates

Mmmm...so what exactly does the original article mean by 'new game modes'?
We already have 'Oni'.....will we see an 'Endless' Mode? The return of the 'Nonstop' mode? Something else that can provide even *more* replay value????
*Wintermute is getting quite excited!!*
I personally can't wait for all the new Oni's. (Even though some of the first ones still give me trouble, LOL...)

DDRMAX2 Dance Dance Revolution(tm)

Pumps Up the Volume with Hit Licensed Tracks

Exclusive to the U.S. Market

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

REDWOOD CITY, CALIF. - August 8, 2003 - Konami of America, Inc., a subsidiary of Konami Corporation (NYSE: KNM), today revealed the main song list for DDRMAX2 Dance Dance Revolution(tm)
(DDRMAX2). Featuring over 65 songs (including more than 25 hidden songs) ranging from pop, R&B, techno, house, trance and more, DDRMAX2 gets players up on the dance floor with an impressive roster of
licensed songs exclusive to the U.S. version of the game including tracks by The Crystal Method, Dirty Vegas, Jocelyn Enriquez, K.C. & The Sunshine Band, Kylie Minogue, and more. Introducing a new graphical
interface showcasing actual music videos from some of today's hottest artists, DDRMAX2 will have gamers groovin' to their favorite music videos while they dance the night away.

"Dance Dance Revolution has always been known for its revolutionary gameplay and pulsating music. Now, DDRMAX2 brings the revolution to the masses by raising the bar in both areas," said Jason Enos, product
manager at Konami of America, Inc. "The exciting catalog of music, videos and difficulty settings in DDRMAX2 offers something for everyone, and is a testament to the ever-growing popularity of the series."

In addition to the new music, DDRMAX2 features new game modes including a "Beginner Mode" that is designed to help newcomers to the series, a "Nonstop Mode" that offers numerous themed courses that are
played without any breaks between songs and an "Endless Mode," the ultimate dance-a-thon where players dance to every song in the game as one continuous mix.

Gamers can even cue up signature dance modes, such as "Workout Mode" and "Edit Mode," allowing players to track calories during the dance session or customize dance steps and develop player-specific
routines, respectively. Fans can also link DDRMAX2 with Dance Dance Revolution KONAMIX(tm) and DDRMAX Dance Dance Revolution(tm) to access additional features.

DDRMAX2 Dance Dance Revolution(tm) is rated "E" for Everyone and will ship to retail stores nationwide September 23, 2003 for the Sony PlayStation(r)2 as a standalone software and a bundle pack containing the
game and dancepad. Konami dancepads will also be sold separately.

re: Release time and Konami Updates

Yup, yup. I probably should've helped keep the thread updated in VegitaX's absence...but I slacked. *Sigh*

This will be the first in a trio of US DDR releases. DDRMAX2 will have upwards of 75 songs (eclipsing DDRMAX), and sadly, will *not* feature an ONI mode. DDRMAX2 will include the old standby modes (Arcade, Workout, Edit, etc.) and also showcase the return of Nonstop Mode (each Nonstop with 2 difficulties, and varying from 4-8 songs), and Endless Mode (each song, all the way through the game).

A demo disk has already been released that features:
...I feel
D2R
Still in my heart
Tsugaru

Ultramix for X-box releases in November, with the promise of downloadable song packs, and Live 4-player action.

All of this is precursor to what has been revealed to be the next big DDR for PS2.....DDR Extreme.
Features are still scarce, but Konami is showcasing the game will have 100 + songs crammed onto the disk. Everybody ready? ;-)
