No posts for a week... everybody's gone... so very sad... ------------------- In plotting any course of revenge, one must savor the anticipation phase and all its moments, for the actual execution often differs widely from the original plan. -Count Hasimir Fenring, Dispatches from Arrakis

Yes, yes I do. They are my favorite book series. Even though the new ones aren't anywhere close to being as brilliant as the originals. ------------------- In plotting any course of revenge, one must savor the anticipation phase and all its moments, for the actual execution often differs widely from the original plan. -Count Hasimir Fenring, Dispatches from Arrakis

I haven't read all the new ones, I own the original series though. ------------------- "My form wasted away, and I became corrupt in thy eyes, yet I was still pleasing to my own eyes--and eager to please the eyes of men." - Augustine's Confessions

The House books were good, as a history. It was nice to see a lot of the holes filled in, but they end up being kind of dry compared to the original dune novels. The butlerian jihad books though, I think are quite excellent. I'm reading through the Battle of Corrino right now and I'm absolutely loving it. I don't know why it feels different, but in my opinion its definitely a lot better than the house books and a lot closer to the quality of the original dune. ------------------- In plotting any course of revenge, one must savor the anticipation phase and all its moments, for the actual execution often differs widely from the original plan. -Count Hasimir Fenring, Dispatches from Arrakis

Well the Battle of Corrin is book 3 of the butlerian jihad series, so you're going to want to read The Butlerian Jihad and the Machine Crusade if you want to make any sense out of the Battle of Corrin. ------------------- In plotting any course of revenge, one must savor the anticipation phase and all its moments, for the actual execution often differs widely from the original plan. -Count Hasimir Fenring, Dispatches from Arrakis

Ok, I wrote the last chapter from the 6th book but IE hung up >.< so I won't write it again. There are ***spoilers*** none-the-less for anyone who hasn't read the sixth book I suggest skipping my post as it might ruin a bit of the books. ------------------- "My form wasted away, and I became corrupt in thy eyes, yet I was still pleasing to my own eyes--and eager to please the eyes of men." - Augustine's Confessions

Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson are writing book seven and eight. Essentially its Frank Herbert's proposed book seven and conclusion of dune, split into two books. They're in the process of writing it now, so it should be out soon. ------------------- In plotting any course of revenge, one must savor the anticipation phase and all its moments, for the actual execution often differs widely from the original plan. -Count Hasimir Fenring, Dispatches from Arrakis

No, no, no! What about the current ending in the 6th book?! I loved it. ------------------- "My form wasted away, and I became corrupt in thy eyes, yet I was still pleasing to my own eyes--and eager to please the eyes of men." - Augustine's Confessions

Frank Herbert was supposed to write a book seven. He planned on it, that's why the ending's a cliffhanger. Except he died of cancer before he could write book seven. So it only seems necessary that they complete the series. ------------------- In plotting any course of revenge, one must savor the anticipation phase and all its moments, for the actual execution often differs widely from the original plan. -Count Hasimir Fenring, Dispatches from Arrakis

I want to tell a story, about a forum where anyone was allowed to visit. Where tangents were allowed and discussed. Where anything in reference to the topic was allowed no matter how small the connection. There was a little boy who went to this forum. After it died out he tried to go to different forums. The first forum he went to had all sorts of people spamming the boards and it just wasn't fun. He left that forum and went to another one, which was good until the new moderator. This moderater was overly strict, and didn't allow very much in the way of tangents, even if they were on topic. The forum slowly became unfun. And now that boy realizes that it will never be the same. ------------------- In plotting any course of revenge, one must savor the anticipation phase and all its moments, for the actual execution often differs widely from the original plan. -Count Hasimir Fenring, Dispatches from Arrakis

quote sinful_666Eh, there was a facedancer in Dune Messiah? And there were face dancers in the house books (but those are bit flawed in my opinion). ------------------- Take my home, take my land, take me where I cannot stand, I don't care, I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me (Ballad of Serenity - Written by Joss Whedon) Adore | Mostaki's Star
