The Departed has stayed strong in comparison to just about everything else; I predict another close weekend with The Prestige.

--=[ Opening This Weekend ]=-- November 3rd 2006 [Key]: Wide Release Limited Release
20th Century Fox, 82mins, R • Flushed Away Dreamworks Pictures, 84mins, PG • The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause Buena Vista Pictures, ??mins, G • Shottas Sony Pictures, 95mins, R • Unknown The Weinstein Company, 98mins, Unrated • Volver Sony Pictures Classics, 120mins, R -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- Kids weekend. Borat will get dominated by Flushed Away and well Flushed Away. The Santa Clause 3 will get within the Top 5, maybe even the Top 3, but it doesn't look appealing at all. In fact, with the exception of Flushed Away, none of this weeks releases do.

I blame guys like Lavitz for films like Flicka making top ten while Catch a Fire gets the shaft.

Damn the Departed went back up to #2, the word is really getting around about it, hell I may even see it a third time. But for this weekend it may be backed down though by Flushed Away, Santa Clause 3, and Borat(will be defiantly seeing it this weekend).

Lots of buzz around Borat, but I seriously doubt it even hits 20mil.

It made the cover of Entertainment Weekly and has good reviews from Time Magazine.

--=[ Opening This Weekend ]=-- November 10, 2006 [Key]: Wide Release Limited Release
20th Century Fox, 118mins, PG-13 • Harsh Times Bauer Martinez Studios, 119mins, R • The Return Rogue Pictures, ??mins, PG-13 • Stranger than Fiction Sony Pictures, 105mins, PG-13 • Come Early Morning Roadside Attractions, 97mins, R • Copying Beethoven MGM Pictures, 104mins, PG-13 • F u c k Thinkfilm, 93mins, Unrated • Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus Picturehouse, 120mins, R • Night of the Living Dead 3D Midnight Movies Entertainment, 80mins, Unrated -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- Wow, Borat dominated at 4x as less theaters than Santa Clause 3. I heard Flushed Away was horrible. The same slapstick gag after the next. Not really sure who will come out on top for this weeks' releases because the only one my theater is getting in is that shitty The Return. Which btw, doesn't it look awfully similar to Sarah Michelle Gellar's other crappy movie about the same thing, The Grudge? Harsh Times looks great, and I wish I could see the Night of the Living Dead 3D, but sadly I dont live close enough to a theater showing it.

Ah, so The Return is the Gellar movie. I saw it was one of the ones opening this weekend at my theater but I had no clue what it was. Were also getting Borat this weekend, alongside A Good Year and Stranger Than Fiction. I would see Harsh Times first but were not getting it

Hard to tell with the upcoming weekend which will come out on top. I really don't see any of them being number one. A Good Year isn't appealing to everyone. I don't think Harsh Times has enough buzz (but it looks damn good)...STF has Ferrell going for it (with the performance of his career, I've heard) and ppl love Ferrell (for some reason). The Return...definitely not the best movie coming out this weekend, but might get a lot of kids to go see it.

I was way off last week, haha. Man, if Borat was in the same amount of theaters I wonder if it would have hit the $100mil mark?

Man Borat hasn't come out yet in Canada, at least not in Empire Theatres Chain. Premiere is on Friday. I can't wait. *Rubs hands together. hehehe*

Borat is estimated to have made nearly $30mil again this weekend, making it number 1. That would make Borat's two-week gross of nearly $70mil. Link
