[:: IMPORTANT ::] One of the most valuable piece of information to read before posting in this forum. 1. [ SPOILERS ]
[ Examples of Spoiling ]
From time, a thread may be tagged with a [NSP]. Short for "No Spoilers Period", this may come into effect depending on the film due to some members spoiling Major Blockbusters (ie. The Lord of the Rings, The Matrix sequels, Harry Potter, etc). Once initiated within a thread, there will be No Spoilers allowed ... Period! (hence the name of the rule). It will usually be seen in the Thread Header and/or Sub-header.
[ Spoiling: The Bad ]
Anyone blurting out a potential spoiler because they heard, know or have read the book will get their post deleted and a 20 Day Ban! We do not care that you know; keep it to yourself. Unless your post is relevant to inform some misguided soul and you provide a clear, visible spoiler warning, then it's best not to post period.
Examples:
• I heard this person dies in the film .. is that true? • I read the book and this person is a giant spider!
You get the idea! No Excuses, You have been Warned!
[ Spoiling: The Good ]
You may post spoilers if it's new information on an upcoming project that's been reported on another, Official Film Site. That will be allowed ONLY if you add a Spoiler Tag (exactly as shown above) or the post will be deleted, reposted by Me and You will receive a 10 day ban!
[ Rumors ]
Please be careful what you post in this forum. Try to decide for yourself what's strictly a false rumor and what could be eventually proven true. Hearing something from a friend or reading it on another message board (ie. imdb.com) doesn't mean it'll happen or is even remotely true. Chances are, your friend or the person on the other site hates the film and were spreading lies to get other fans worried/angry over a film they are anticipating. Or, you could simply have misunderstood what you were hearing/reading and took the sentence out of text. Sounds ridiculous, but it's happened before, too many times in fact. It's considered here-say rumors / bullshit / spamming and I don't appreciate it in this forum. If you can't find a source to back up what you read or the person themselves aren't a reliable source, don't believe it, don't post it. If you do, be warned to get harassed and your info challenged. If you fly off the handle, you'll be banned and your post possibly deleted (or left so everyone can laugh at when it's shown to be false at the film's release).
[:: Other Notables ::] 2. [ Piracy ]
I don't Agree or Allow Any Requests or Linkage to sites to download Pirated Software or Buy Boot-Legged DVDs! Quit making the Film Industry raise the price of their merchandise to cover the loss in sales! Stop Being a bunch of Cheap Bastards and buy the stuff legally like I do!! This is already indicated in the [Neo's General Rules Too]
3. [ Language ]
Unlike Some Uptight Mods, I don't mind the foul language when used accordingly and sparingly in a post. Just don't abuse my leniency!
4. [ Creating Threads ]
1) First use the Index or the new Search Function to see if any thread already exists. If one does not, create away.
2) Requirements to keep thread opened: Provide a Plot Summary if it's an older film or some type of info on the new project.
If Available: - MPAA rating - Cast or those currently rumored to be part of the Cast - Release Date - Any official website - Poster either Teaser or Final Theatrical Poster - Trailer or link to a trailer (Try To Avoid Youtube as Vids tend to be shut down or deleted). Apple is a good source for new trailers.
Providing these is a good way to keep your thread open. In the past, if a thread already exists, no replies to it and no info in the first post, and someone comes along and creates a duplicate providing all the necessary requirements, I will keep that thread open instead and close the older one. I go on a case-by-case scenario so this does not always happen. Also, depending on the film (and if I think it warrants to remain open but I don't think anyone else will create one for a long while) if a person creates a thread but neglects these requirements, I will myself edit the post and provide the info. I rarely do this as I would prefer you to be capable of doing so on your own. Again, it's a case-by-case example.
5. [ Replying To Threads ]:
[Read Every Page / Every Post of a Thread]
I don't care if the thread is 3 pages long or 30 pages long ... Read through each page because it's built up some memorable history of great discussions and even greater rants! One off-topic post could disrupt that in a second because the answer to your question or the reply to your comment was already said a page back or so!
[Content]
I want to see more than "I luv this movie lots", "I hate this movie, cuz it dumb and is stupid film!" or "I can't wait to see this, it's gonna rock" followed by a billion smilies! If you don't have anything else to say, wait a bit, think of something and then reply because to Me ... that's spamming and adds nothing to the conversation.
6. [ Flaming ]
I like a good ol' cat fight every now and again ... but keep the debate reasonable. Don't Go Too overboard to where I have to ban You. And Most importantly....NEVER Flame Me!
7. [ Spamming ]
It's simple ... Don't Spam! I like to eat the crap, but I certainly Do Not like to read it, nor does anyone else! Spamming will result in a loss of post count and a Temp-Ban! Exactly what is spam? It's a short post, that does nothing but raise your post count. Sometime they are one-liners. Other times you may quote an entire post and reply with "I agree", or some other one-liner/sentence that doesn't add to the conversation but disrupt it.
There's also something I call "Border-line spam". An example:
• "I saw the trailer to this movie. looks dumb. I might not go see it." • "I've seen this before. I love it, anyone else seen it?"
Yes, too many members post exactly that. It's too gray. You could be talking about ANY film, and if you are dumb enough, can go on a flooding spree and spam that same message in a dozen or so threads. Basically if it's something that you can post in 20 threads without having to change anything (or a word or two), then it's spam.
8. [ Flooding ]
Replying to a bunch of topics that fill up the entire page. Do you really need to have your name appear as the last poster in every topic, especially that of the first page? No, you don't, and doing so will result in a ban.
9. [ Trolling ]
Do not go in and out of the threads sheerly to annoy a member or two. You are allowed to post your opinion on a film, but do so without coming across as an ignorant jackass. If it seems as though you are only putting down a film just to annoy a certain member that you despise, then it will be you who will be banned.
10. [ TLA's Mod Trademark ]
::Thread Closed::
You see this ... that means your thread is closed because you broke one of the rules! I've been using that signature mark since I've been Mod, and I've been moderating on this site since July 2002. If you have a problem with why I closed your thread ... take it up in [RFS] because I don't want to hear about it here! Or you may try PMing me and we could talk about it first.
I'd like this forum to be as laid back as possible! I'm lenient when it comes to Modding in Movies/Films, but just don't piss me off or you'll feel the wrath of Hell upon thee in the shape of my finger pressing the Ban Button! Seriously. Just because I don't like to ban, doesn't mean that I wont.If you have any suggestions, questions, need a target for an oncoming bitch rant, or simply need a shoulder to cry on (because yes, I cry like a lil' bitch when I watch Titanic too) ... I'm always here...Just [Pm] Me.The Living Angelus™ Movies/Films Moderator (2002 - Present) ---------------------------------------- This message was edited by God on Apr 15 2003.This message was edited by THANOS on Jan 10 2005.This message was edited by Angie Von Doom on Aug 08 2005.
