Step Brothers |
![]() Release Date: July 28, 2008 I cannot believe there hasn't been a thread made for this movie yet. Anyways, I saw an early screening of this flick tonight, and I absolutely loved it. When I first saw the Red Band trailer for Step Brothers, I knew immediately this movie was going to be funny. The trailer made me laugh each time I watched it, which is absolutely not common for any comedy movie trailer I've previously seen. But my God, I did not expect the movie to be as funny as it turned out. Will Ferrel and John C. Reilly are comedy gold in this movie. The two of them, Dale(John C. Reilly) and Brennan(Will Ferrel) are two adults that still live with their parents, and because of that both of them are very childish. But once the two come together, you cannot help but laugh. The chemistry between the two is brilliant, and no matter what, you will find yourself laughing your ass off when they're interacting. At first, they're always throwing the most funny and imaginative insults at each other, and once the two become best friends, they're a god damn gut-busting mess. They have such child-like minds at times - one moment in the movie that displays their immaturity is when a girl tells Dale how much she wants to have sex with him, and he has no idea what exactly is happening. He's so confused by the fact a girl is actually hitting on him. Ferrel and Reilly are the reasons why the movie is fantastic, even though a few of the supporting characters, like Brennan's younger brother, are also quite funny. This movie had me in stitches from beginning to end. It was absolutely consistent in laugh-out-loud moments, and I haven't found myself laughing this hard in a film since Superbad. There's one line in the film made the ENTIRE theater laughing uncontrollably, and I'm not going to spoil it, but it involves Dale describing Brennan's singing voice. All in all, Step Brothers is quite possibly the funniest film I have ever seen, and my favorite film of 2008. See it. 10/10

Eureka is spot on here. I don't want to give away any scenes until you guys watch the film, but expect to have your jaw hurting like a bitch because of all the laughing. Will Ferrel's and John C. Reilly's last movie they did together was all right(Talladega Nights), but this...I guess this is what you get if you combined an R rating with John C. Reily, Will Ferrel, and having Ferrel as a writer. It's comedy gold. I haven't laughed this hard since Superbad(which, coincidentally, I also saw in an advance screening). When this film comes out, you HAVE to see this on opening day. Having to wait till the 25th of June to watch this is enough of a travesty.

'lol' @ scores for a film you haven't seen. Lame. Ferrel is all right in most of his films, but this is so different from his other work(besides the fact that he's playing a total *bleep*).

I also could have sworn there was a thread for this already, oh well.
I must admit I always have a chuckle during the trailer when he says "We'd have so much more room to do activities!" Oh and saying "I'm not going to spoil the line" but to then tell us exactly which part of the film it comes at makes you a turd burglar. -------------------

I wasn't going to see this until I saw the "R" rating, which means it could actually be decent.

I've seen a lot of comedy over the years. Some have been questionable but none as disgusting as Will Ferrell's attempt at mindless and revolting humour. It's a shame that he as the screenwriter has resorted to lowering himself to trashy humour. Does he not have any scruples or morals? Does he not have any self respect? Has he left nothing to the imagination? I remember watching him in ELF and thought I'd be watching and following his career path but after taking my young daughter and son to watch him at the theatre I was mortified. I left the theatre ashamed that I had been fooled by the tame trailers. What put me over the edge was him placing his privates on the drum set. Now many reading this will call me a prude and for those I appreciate your thoughts.
From here on in for any time I hear Will Ferrel's name I can only say he went from a decent comedy to a vile man who holds no worth in comedy. What a shame.

It was rated "R." Why the hell did you take your kids to see it?
Hey, there's this great movie about numbers called "Seven" I bet your children would really enjoy... ------------------- quote Overheard in Loungin'Deists: Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, James Madison, John Adams...the bad history bug strikes again!
