Transformers 3 Gets A Date
Paramount, DreamWorks to release pic in 2011

quote
March 16, 2009 - Paramount and DreamWorks are forging ahead with "Transformers 3," dating the movie for release on July 1, 2011, reports Variety.

It's the first word of the three-quel, although Paramount insiders downplayed the importance of the move.

They said the studio wanted to claim the date before a competitor did, considering that the 2011 summer release calendar is filling up.

No deals have been inked with director Michael Bay or franchise stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox. Nor has a writer been hired for the third installment.

The big-budget franchise has fast tried to claim the July Fourth holiday frame as its own. "Transformers" opened on July 3, 2007; "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" bows on June 24, 2009, one week before the holiday.

So far, "Transformers 3" has no direct competition on its July 1, 2011, date.
Marvel also announced a shake-up to it's current slate of films. With Spider-Man 4 being announced for May 6, 2011, here's how their upcoming schedule appears:

Film - Prior Release Date - Current Release Date

Iron Man 2 - May 7, 2010 - May 7, 2010
Spider-man 4 - n/a - May 6, 2011
Thor - July 16, 2010 - June 17, 2011
The First Avenger: Captain America - May 6, 2011 - July 22, 2011
The Avengers - July 15, 2011 - May 4, 2012

I'm glad Thor was pushed back a year; it should give time to flesh out the script more and not rush into hasty casting decisions. Also, I never liked Captain America and The Avengers flicks being one month apart. This will give people time to see Cap, then anticipate seeing all of them in an Avengers movie the following year. 2011 though, damn Spider-man 4 in May, Thor in June and Captain America in July, and on top of that Transformers 3? Holy shit, it's the mother load!

By 2011 movies will cost $40 to see in theaters too, I can't wait. Downloading will be so far along that nobody will eve ngo to theaters anymore. We'll also be driving hovercars.

This must have taken you a while to do, dang. It's cool though. How about including relevant straight-to-DVD films too? Like sequels to big movies, etc. (i.e. Cabin Fever 2).

All's not good in the hood with that Transformers date. Bay has said that Paramount are dicks for announcing that and that he wanted a year off and was looking at 2012, not 2011, stating that he's out if they're going ahead with it.

Kiefer Sutherland on ending 24:
"I see Jack as a really human figure and there is something innately tragic about people. I think there is no winning."

Ironically, I'm using those four heroes in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance right now I have a feeling Thor isn't going to turn out well, and I've never really cared about the Spiderman movies. I had been excited for Venom being in 3, but they jobbed him out so fast that I got pissed off. I'm hoping they make Captain America awesome.

Awesome! Most of the movies I eagerly await for are due for a May release, the month when the new cinema here opens. Can't wait.

It's a couple months away, but I'm looking forward to seeing this movie. The plot sounds really interesting and I'm excited to see Bruce Willis back in the sci-fi action mix!
