Viggo looks like an animal. Plus the whole post-apocalypse thing really appeals to me so I'll definitely be seeing this. I'll probably get the book beforehand though.

Why does every single good book have to be turned into a movie? I mean, this will probably be good, but Hollywood just has to go and touch everything. I wish a book could just be a book for once.

Not only money, but some of the best movies ever made are adapted. Seven of the last ten Best Picture winners weren't original screenplays.
This movie is going to *bleep*ing rock. They've already stated that lots of the marketing around this film isn't going to be a completely accurate representation, which is understandable. They're going to want to make money on this, especially during a recession. Even still, all the early buzz and reviews have been absolute gold. And the director is perfect for this movie after seeing what he did with The Proposition. And Viggo is perfect too. ------------------- when I woke up in the V.A. hospital with a hole blown through my life, all I could think about was flying

Footage looks great, though I thought the trailer sucked. I still think it's stupid that they hire so many well known actors (besides Viggo) for all the other very minor roles, especially if they'll be anything like their characters in the novel.
Also, did I hear a T-Fighter in there...? -------------------

Well I dunno, I like that big names are playing the little roles, cuz then they're like cameos to add that little novelty of seeing an acting giant (Duvall) for the span of five minutes.
I hope the marketing on this thing is misleading, or else they're REALLY re-interpreting the story, haha. I actually just finished the book last night, so now I'm really stoked. ------------------- ![]() THUNDERCATS ARE GO!!!

Well I finished the book last night and my God it blew me away.
I don't think the trailer is that misleading from the book, maybe emphasising the "chase" a bit more, but there is that overtone of absolute terror of being caught in the book, at least in my opinion. Only thing I didn't like about the trailer was the kind of "explanation" of what happened, I loved the fact it was never explained in the book, all we got was a brief description of the night the clocks stopped working. Ok severe climate change was probably the only thing that would cause such a drastic change but I liked the fact we were never told. I guess though for Hollywood things have to be spelled out at times. ------------------- Ron says: I just drink to a point where everything makes me laugh Ron says: once something stops being funny, I drink more

I heard that this movie was supposed to be coming out soon. I haven't hear a shred of news out here in Australia though, which has severely *bleep*ing annoyed me.

I just watched the trailer and I have some thoughts.
I reckon it'll either end up being a good film, and not much like the book, or a shit film, and it'll be a lot like the book. Not that I thought the book was bad, it's amazing, it just wouldn't really work as a film so much. It relies a lot on your imagination, the unknowns and is generally slow moving, which never (with exceptions of course) makes for a good film. However it works out though, I hope it stays true to the book in the case of explicit material. Some of the imagery is very shocking, and that was a vital part of the book. ------------------- ![]()

I'm really looking forward to this. I got to study the book for my degree last year, and by the time I had finished reading it I had already placed it as one of my favourite books of all-time. The tone is so brutal, so unforgiving, but at the same time the bond between the father and son is always a ray of light.

^ True that Vector, but the trailer gave me the impression of it being more face paced. I do want this to work though, I loved the book, I'm just a cynic!

I've heard that they specifically stated that this film is going to be marketed in a somewhat different way than how the film actually is, so that should help ease your mind. There is the chance that it sucks, but I really feel like this movie is going to be incredible.
