I've played it. Single player is boring. If there's lag online shooting things becomes a hassle. The thing that annoyed me so much is how even the weaker enemies you first meet take a ridiculous amount of hits before they die. I hate the rpg element of it, which is why I never bought Fallout 3. Though I want to now, just because of the GOTY edition with all 5 DLC maps included. Even then, I know what the game is, I'm in no hurry to pick it up.
How stupid is Valve for putting the L4D2 demo for preorders only. Isn't the purpose of a demo to draw people into the title and get them to buy your game. If they already preordered it, they dont need a demo. About as dumb marketing as the Madden 2010 preorder exclusive only demo. "Oh hey, preorder this so you can get an exclusive demo to play a game you're planning on playing anyways!" ![]() ------------------- ![]()

Pretty sure GameStop earned some pieces there as well. They are always doing pre-order bonuses to ensure sales.
But many people have pre-ordered the game so mission accomplished. And single-player is boring?! D: Yeah, well it is more an MP game, should try it with that. The game does start off slow, but it picks up in no time with the different fields of skills and weapons you can use. -------------------

quote The Living AngelusI think you might be referring to Rastan, I remember playing it at the arcade as a kid. I tried to buy it off a guy years later from a little Pizza joint, but he wasn't going for it. Only arcade machines I own is Ring King, and Bad Dudes. I would love to have Rastan though, well hell at this point I'll settle for it on XBOX Marketplace. ------------------- ![]()

HOLY SHIT KING YOU ARE THE *bleep*IN GREATEST! <3 As soon as I googled that the first image had that background I talked about. Major props man. Thank you so much.
quote StormI have tried Borderlands with 3 other people. How else do I know about the lag online. To be fair though, it wasn't on my connection, as I was playing on my friends console and I don't know what kind of internet settings he is running on. Probably his shitty DSL provider. Regardless, this isn't something you can change my mind on. Even before I switched to single-player I was getting bored of the game online, the single-player just solidified my opinion on it. I am not a fan of most rpg games or this leveling up bullshit. It depends on the game and how it's implemented but for games like Borderland where I just want to shoot shit, I hate it. I hated that crap in the Final Fantasy series, I hated it in Command & Conquer where I'd spend an hour building an army, 10 second battle only then have to start all over again on the next level from scratch, and how I hate it even more in these latest WWE SmackDown games where every CAW has a low attribute rating and you have to waste countless hours building each one up instead of just giving you a decent fair amount of points to spread across from the start. I just want to jump in and play and not have to worry about if my character is at a decent enough stat level so I wont die. Jumping into a FPS and not being able to kill something with a clear head shot is stupid and that's exactly what Borderlands does. There's not much appeal to it where I have a reason to beat the game once, then would want to have a second run through... what to level up another class? Boring. And how's it mission accomplished? People would have preordered L4D2 regardless the exclusive demo or not, is the point. Don't be thick. From a business standpoint, the demo should be available across all boards for those still teetering on buying it and not as an extra incentive to those who are already going to purchase the game regardless. Those who play the L4D2 demo are those who are already looking forward to buying the game. Wouldn't it be smarter to release the demo to those who are not planning on buying it to persuade them into getting the game? I certainly think it would be the wiser business choice. ------------------- ![]()

Here's my "STFU, get to the point" version:
Zombies Ate My Neighbors = <3, need more childhood NES titles on Wii VC, Borderlands is dumb no matter what Storm tries to convince himself it is, and preorder demo exclusives are a stupid marketing scheme. Better? The X-Men Arcade game was awesome. I'm surprised that hasn't made it's way on Xbox Marketplace. Best Simpsons game I played was Bart's Nightmare. Still own that on SNES. Wished Wii VC would port it over too. ------------------- ![]()

I loved Bart's Nightmare but I could never beat it all of the little games in it. I think my highest score was a C or something.
X-Men: The Arcade Game was great. I wish they'd remake Maximum Carnage and Separation Anxiety for the XBox Live Arcade. I have both Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Golden Axe, but I haven't played them much. Too many damn games. Demos being exclusive to those already buying the game is STUPID. Demos are supposed to encourage gamers to buy the game, so having them only for those who are already getting the game is just a waste of time. ------------------- ![]() ![]()

If the Simpsons or X-Men arcade game were to get put on XBL, I would buy it without a second thought.

Likewise. I was reading a gaming column at a site I normally go to for various news and columns, and a few people commented that they played the Simpsons arcade game recently (on their PC I believe), and that the simple mindless gameplay doesn't hold up over time. I say who gives a crap, I want to finally beat this damn game already
I miss playing the NBA Street games. I had a good one when I bought my first GameCube, but I had to sell it due to medical bills. I think it was NBA Street Volume 2. I was one of the goofs that would regularly shoot three pointers, like I did in NBA Jam ------------------- ![]() ![]()

quote The Living AngelusWhat? The point is that putting these pre-ordering bonuses pretty much guarantee sales. What do people with power want? More power. People with a lot of cash? More cash. It's a rather simple concept in business that, with the right tools and marketing, helps get their products flying off the shelves. It's not that people wouldn't have pre-ordered it, it's that because of the incentive, more people are doing so. Even so, the demo is set to hit the masses later on anyway. And again, it's a pre-order exclusive from GameStop, is it not? Deal's on Steam as well, but to show even more edge, the 360 gamers got their hands on the demo a day early. People want their hands on the game asap. GameStop goes the extra bounds to get these little tidbits, anything from the L4D2 demo or pre-ordering WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2010 for the Austin code. That way, they get their cut. It's not being thick, it's just marketing strategy. People want the game, they'd want to try the demo, and as early as possible to get bragging rights perhaps. My first sentence in that post already explained why it was "mission accomplished." As far as Borderlands is concerned, you're not into the RPG part of the game. It's an FPS with RPG elements, not just some run in the mill FPS where you jump in and kill all day long. If the genre didn't interest you, why try it? :S Unless it was some random impulse, I don't see why you would. The reviews, gameplay, etc., clearly show the game's features. Sure it's a time-consuming process to level up, but you don't have to level grind much in the game. You can run through the missions and be just fine, leveling goes pretty quickly. In other words, just play the game, leveling will come naturally. Even if you're 1 and your partner is at 50, it will still work, you'll get the huge piece of the pie as far as experience is concerned. It's not at all like in the SvR series, with now we have to run through things with all (50) CAWS to build some stats, that's where we'd focus on grinding. There's some higher missions with recommended difficulty, but I can do them underleveled and still do just fine. The game is more about teamwork and customization rather than the leveling if you ask me. ---------------- I would love to see Maximum Carnage and Separation Anxiety hit XBL. Spent hours on those SNES games years ago. Agreed with Bart's Nightmare as well, only Simpsons game I've ever owned. I've tried I think Bart vs the World and something with aliens, both were ok, but not as fun as Nightmare. If they add in the six-player option to the X-Men Arcade, it would be epic...though I don't see that happening. This message was edited by Storm on Oct 28 2009. -------------------

Sorry for ignoring the wall of the text so my bad if you've already covered it Storm (<3), but the demo is not exclusive to pre-orders, it's a timed exclusive. You lot get it soon. We get it earlier.
And guess what? That *bleep*ing time just got DELAYED AGAIN. HOLY SHIT. -------------------

Ah, that's much better then. It wouldn't make sense for a demo to be exclusive for people already buying the game, but if comes out earlier for the pre-orders, I guess it's just a nice preview for them.
I'm still not buying it, but maybe I'll try the demo out for some free and cheap fun. ------------------- ![]() ![]()

One more hour apparently. But that's been maybe 5 delays in a day and a bit, so I'm pretty much certain it won't be out. I won't wait up again that's for sure.

I've got to get back to class, so if it is out by then I won't be around for it. Damn Valve, this is practically showing favoritism for the consoles. -_- And yeah, there's been way too many delays. Since 3-4pm EST yesterday it was supposed to be out. Then 11pm, then 2am, and recently I heard 4pm EST today, but again, another hour.
